I Bought 44 Broken Handheld Game Consoles from eBay - Can I Fix Them? I paid a total of $560 for these 44 handhelds which works out to about $12 each. I'm hoping to be able to repair most of them and make a good profit overall.

In this video, I replace the speaker in a Game Boy Color, remove some serious corrosion from a Game Boy Advance, and fix some battery problems in a few Game Boy Advance SP's. I also find that one of the Game Boy Advance SP's was infested with little cockroaches! Gross! But with this many handhelds we're going to have to do a Part 2 next week so stay tuned for that when I work on repairing some 2DS, 2DS XL, 3DS, 3DS XL, DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL, and PSP handhelds.

Goes for anything nowadays, people throw away a whole microwave worth 300 euros because 1 fuse worth 80 cents burned through. Can't blame em though, most people think electronics is some type of black magic that only very smart people understand. For the 2DS that won't recognize cartridges, check the region. The 3DS family is region locked, so if the cartridge is for a different region than the console it will appear to not read it. It could be a PAL or Japanese console, and you have a US cartridge. I'm glad Nintendo didn't go that route with the Switch.

12:18 - I think you are confusing the PSP with the PS Vita. The PSP actually had great sales, and it was indeed ahead of its time, you're right. But the sales for the PSP being so good is what prompted the PS Vita's appearance. Also, the PSP competed with the DS/DS Lite/DSi, while the PS Vita was the one that competed with the 3DS. Unfortunately, the sales for software were nowhere near as high as the ones for hardware. The PSP, while very high selling, was easily "hacked" and ran on homebrew a lot of the time. Which involved people downloading games illegally, which led to people not buying the actual games. So, with the Vita, Sony did a lot of things, like making the memory proprietary, amongst other things, which ultimately led to it not selling anywhere near as well as it should. Also came with way too high of a price tag for a handheld. Even the 3DS, when it first launched, sold poorly because it had a price tag higher than what people were willing to pay. But after they sliced the price on it, it sold like hot cakes. The PS Vita, unfortunately, never got enough of a treatment like that, and it never really sold like that. Quite unfortunate, because it was amazing for its time, with games like Killzone, Gravity Rush, and even an Uncharted for it, leading the forefront of its amazing lineup of games. People were also afraid to make games for the PS Vita, because of how easily they were pirated on the PSP. No one wants to put money, time, effort, and sweat into a game that is just going to be pirated.

@@Tronicsfix I would honestly be amazing if you managed to get more than 2-5 in one order considering how apple operates! Side note, I'm currently 90% through your video but isn't that corrosion from water damage or something similar on the underside ( I suppose it would be considered the top\upright side given the orientation of the board) of that PCB on the last GBA|SP? Granted with my VERY limited knowledge having no experience repairing anything of this sort it looks like you could just clean the 2-3 spots of the corrosion and continue on with the repair from there.

A lot this large would definitely be s fun project and could even make some money off of it. If nothing else you can learn a lot just from seeing how all of this stuff works. I stayed learning how to repair stuff by taking apart the broken things around the house and getting to figure out why they broke. Then moved on to taking apart things that worked, but not quite right and seeing if I could improve it. I'm no where near as good as him, but I can do a lot of basic repairs and even by some "new" things broken and fix them myself just because it's a hell of a lot cheaper.

The next console that I have is my brothers Nintendo 2DS which is liquid damaged and has the START and SELECT button not working. Let's see if I can fix it! I also learned to diagnose a Nintendo Switch when it has some kind of problems and with that knowledge, I was able to diagnose my friends console. It had the charge chip problem. He replaced the chip (And sacrificed a console with the video chip/CPU problem) and now it's up and running again. Keep it up! Greetings from Germany. ^^

My predictions for the potential problems for each device based on my experience with them. Game boy colour : Batteries not being held in. That's the only issue mine has had since my dad bought it when it came out. Game boy advance : Never own one but a friend did. Delay from pressing buttons to the action appearing on the screen. Game boy advance SP : Never had any problems. DS Lite : Top screen falling off. Yes. Falling off. The hinges broke very often. DS i : Bad top screen. Or damaged components leading to nothing appearing on the top screen. PSP : Never had one. 2DS : Never wanted to even touch em. DS i XL : Nothing. I upgraded & sold it. New style 2 DS : Never had one. 3DS : Charge port!!! 3 different ones in 2 weeks... 3DS XL : Absolutely nothing. My first & current one is still going. And frankly, it shouldn't be. Being at the bottom of a lake for 20 minutes(I was lucky for it to be found so soon), flying out my hands on the highway, being run over and being knocked out of my hands into cake batter. It realy should not be in perfect condition. But that's why I can't foresee any problems for this one.
