I bought 8 plus-size formals from SHEIN that I found on Pinterest! All of the dresses should fit me by measurements, but looking at the models, I am not so sure!

I know you liked the last dress, but honestly, the red dress with the big bow is by far, the most flattering. No bumps or bulges and the red really looked great with your complexion.

After watching the video back, I agree with you. I am going to see if I can remake it. The fabric was really bad- like a very thin foam, really odd. I think that if I went to a formal event and anyone hugged me, it would be strange. I am thinking of taking it apart and remaking it from a bridal satin or similar fabric.

Great idea to take apart the red and re create it. A taffeta that would hold its bow shape? Or bridal satin as you said. You may have to put stiffener in the bow, maybe.

Completely agree! She was glowing in the pink number bc she loved it and that made it look even better. Age is just a number and it shouldn't be one of the numbers we take into consideration when picking clothes ❤❤❤

The red dress was absolutely to die for. Scuba fabric is really popular for structural clothes and exactly why it was used for that bow.

Thank you for the info! This was not a true neoprene, it had more of a goam feel- but I did decide to keep it to wear in The cooler weather. Also going to see what it would do in another fabric! I appreciate you watching!!

@@BigonStyle That was my favorite. The bow turned it into this unbelievably beautiful and very flattering Jessica Rabitt 🐇 type dress. My second fave was the teal and then your favorite navy dress at the end. The navy dress is probably the most versatile. I agree with the OP as much as you loved the pink dress you should keep it. It wasn't too young for you and the Barbie Movie is out, so this year is the year for that dress!!

How fun was this!!! Your optimistic personality is just beautiful!! I just wanted to say as a seamstress who specializes on alterations of all formal wear, I could literally "eyeball pin" each of these dresses on you and you would be surprised how many of them would have actually "made the cut"! If you really feel it and love it and have an amazing seamstress to rely on, don't be afraid to reach out to them before sending them back!

the YT sewing and try-on communities need to do some collabs on making alterations to off the rack clothing. especially in the plus-size world, where you're usually just happy to find stuff that fits the assorted 'problem areas'. a few quick nips-and-tucks would have made some of those dresses definite keepers. i've been sewing since i was a kid, and i have saved many friends from having to return clothing they really loved by whipping out my needle and thread. (seriously folks, find a friend who sews. we LOVE fixing fit problems.)

My mum was a seamstress taught in the 1940s ragtrade and she could do amazing things with just a few tucks and pins. I agree with Vicki... I am so tired of plus sized clothes being a piece of material with three holes in it and a zip up the back. I wish I had my mums skills but I suck at machine sewing.

Wow! The teal one looked great on you. The royal blue dress and the maroon dress both looked great. The hot pink one also looked great, and it is absolutely NOT too young for you. There are so many limits placed on us by “society.” Don’t ban yourself from your happy colors. I thought that dress looked great on you!

the wetsuit fabric dress looks great! they use similar materials for its sculptable property all the time on the British Sewing Bee, so it's rather on-trend as a 'statement piece'.

Thank you! So this material was not truly neoprene- I felt one that was at Nordstrom this past weekend- it was more of a foam, but certainly had the same effect (I had never encountered either made as a dress prior to this!) I really appreciate you watching and your kind comment!

I love the last navy one for its versatility and also for how flattering it is on your figure. But to be honest, the red one with the bow was really really flattering. I would have loved it even more in black! I was a Navy officer's wife for 30 years and had to attend many formals (a chaplain's wife no less and we did multiple balls every year just because he had to do the invocation and benedictions!). So I understand your search for formal wear. It's difficult to understand the fabric feel of the red dress on video, but it was really on point for a Marine Corp Ball or a Navy Ball!

I agree with some of the posters below who said they liked the red bow dress best. The fabric was probably chosen because the dress style needed a little firmer structure than "normal" fabric. Also, that navy dress at the end was a winner. I would buy that one to keep in my closet as a go-to for a special night out. Loved your video, and I'm definitely subscribing cause you made dress shopping fun again.

You're videos popped up and i just love them for your style and description of the outfit. I agree with some other subscribers that the red dress has a fantastic fit on your bist, shoulder and waist. Girl, this made me so happy for you and yet so sad at the same time, because you look SO amazing in so many of the dresses that you were saying looked awful and I would tell you !! That red dress was amazing. The hot pink one was amazing. Barbie is having a moment, and it’s definitely not too young for you at all. The one dress that you love the most was the only one that I would say, “eh” on! You are beautiful and sometimes husbands go with what they think we or they’re used to. The red was so pretty, but oh, that fabric!! The best thing about it is that I have already returned everything but the teal and navy- returns were super easy and I got a full refund. So- from my experience, there was no real drawback! Also, this was so much fun!!

She loved your personality too and like me, thought many looked really good on you. Most surprising was probably the floral. So glad they were easy to return. I’m waiting on another Fashom box. KZfaq recommended me this and I went on to watch a bunch more. The personality just shines through the editing, the choices and obviously her as a person. So funny, uplifting and interesting! With the stretchy bodycon type dresses, they would be fine with some shapewear to stabilize the midsection. Dresses are not typically cut for our appleish shape bodies.

I think you did pretty well with the dresses you chose. The last, the royal blue, and the red were my absolute faves. I honestly didn’t mind the Barbie pink one either. You can always throw a cute jacket over it. I think it has a lot of possibilities tbh. That pink color was definitely really pretty on you as well.

the last dress is absolutely the best! it's very flattering and the lace makes it look more mature. great find! i don't think it's a popular opinion but the seafoamy floral dress i also thought was very nice and flattering too

@BigonStyle I'm Canadian 🇨🇦, so Stitch Fix etc don't deliver here (or are too expensive for shipping & returns to use) so seeing Shein and other online brands makes it so I can possibly order, too. Still-- you're really fun to watch and I'm enjoying seeing what you buy. 😃

The red neoprene is also known as scuba -- because it is the type of fabric wetsuits are made of. Fashion designers started using it for the sculptural quality it would give designs. I have a skirt that is made of a black lighter weight scuba, and here in Texas I couldn't imagine an entire dress made of it, even if it was sleeveless. But, it DOES make for a stunning dress! Glad I found you on my recommended feed!

Unpopular comment but I love the black dress the best. Second would be the red bow. I'm at least a 5x myself (based on this size chart). Personally for myself I'm not comfortable with body con dresses but I absolutely applaud those who can do it. Go for the one you like best that you are the most comfortable in because that's the one you'll wear over and over. Thank you for this video. I loved seeing all of them on you and you are beautiful in them!

The black one was nice. It just needed a little alteration to keep the "off the shoulder" off the shoulders. The 5x's would have looked better in the 4x most likely, or they could have been altered.

I love the red one with a bow. you look spectacular but honestly the black one fits you like a glove quite a versatile dress. do no hesitate to brighten it with colors, shoes, bag, chale , gloves ,accessories like pink or red,

You look like the type of person who would absolutely look GORGEOUS in bright colors. So many of my dar/bright blue eyed blond friends can ROCK a neon colors. You have enough energy for it! LOVED THE BRIGHT RED! As soon as you pulled it out up to your face it was the right colors. Jus the wrong fit.
