Kris, did you not have a sheet with gaskets for the case? The case isn't closing, and the assembly is pinging with good reason. @@LeTheory I see. That's good to know! I hope the keyboard is working properly now then! Unfortunate, then, that the video is misleading starting at 11:24 (when the case is closed without gaskets on and malfunctions), and sends an unpleasant message about the nature of custom keyboard kits like this. The issue with the PCB that required the wire bridge could have been due to user error (or a busted diode? It could've happened as it was taken out of the bag), that should've been identified by simply testing the PCB before placing any parts together at first. It might've been working fine originally. While I understand that people watching this video may look negatively at the fact that premium mechanical keyboard kits like this one require DIY assembly, it's part of our community, and the nature of our hobby. This is the appeal of these keyboards - the custom builds. There's folks who can also build for themselves and on behalf of others (like myself!), who probably feel really disappointed seeing that the video paints this process in such a negative light.
@neilisnext2 жыл бұрын
Had the exact same thought when he noticed the ping on his build, probably no gaskets which caused shortage.. 😂 Guess the video confirms that the board (or any other high end board) def needs a bit of research in order to build it correctly. Shame that it paints the hobby in a bad light though

Yeah, it wasn’t the best execution of jumper wires, but as the old addage goes “if it works, it ain’t stupid”. I honeslty don't see a massive difference between a Display and a keyboard, don't get me wrong visual are often the most important but why have a less than stellar keyboard/mouse and spend what is likely more than 4 grand for the tower alone. From an experience standpoint keyboards can be the bottleneck... that being said my current keyboard cost me sub 500$ and I'll likely use it another 5 years minimum (had it 3 so far.) I only spent 400$ on each monitot I'm using but all I wanted was high framerate and deep blacks, no need for me to go above 1440.

If anyone’s looking for a keyboard kit, the Zoom75 or any meletrix zoom product is a great entry level quality board! (Although they are group buys…. @dopplerganger442 жыл бұрын
Hey man this video has painted the keyboard hobby as a whole in a negative light so I'd like to shed some light on the mechanical keyboard hobby. The issue with what Kris experienced here was that he didn't assemble the board correctly as per the instructions and didnt install the gaskets onto the case itself so that is on him. Secondly the thing about him having to put it together himself is what makes the keyboard hobby fun for me and others in the hobby as you can fine tune all that you want and you can pick and choose your desired feel. The part where you feel that a $25 keyboard would make your more satisfied than the keycult in the video is perfectly ok as it is your own money and may not want to spend it on your keyboard. However many others like me would compare this hobby to a car enthusiast type hobby. You are able to spend 2000 on a 1985 corolla, and you are also able to spend 30000 tuning your Miata to the exact specifications you want! Both are the same speed on the highway, but it is perfectly up to the individual's personal preference and what he/she enjoys. (His keyboard isnt 1000 retail btw it is like 350 retail but due to the limited availability and the high demand the resale market pushes it up to 1000+)And btw since you are happy with your logitech keyboard i recommend you check out some custom keyboard sound tests and you will definitely not regret it! Check out gateway channels such as Shoobs, Hipyo and Taeha types and listen to the sound tests. Hipyo mainly caters to a more beginner audience and you will definitely not regret checking him out!

@@dopplerganger44 I noticed after reading my comment over again just now I came off a bit harsh. For one the mk850 I use is a $100 modern keyboard so it's definitely not compatible to the red dragon $25 one, for two I completely understand wanting custom stuff, and with that board actually only being $350 it makes more sense to want to mess with it. Honestly I still don't understand why anyone would pay that much and have to assemble it themselves, but if project kits are your thing I guess it's ok. I'd definitely understand it a lot better if the initial setup was assembled for you, and it was designed specifically for easy tuning and swapping/changing of parts to meet people's specific desires though.
