For all those wondering, there’s a lever on the back of the headrest to til the seat forwards and a button right by the side of the level to electrically slide the seat forwards, opening enough space for the passenger to enter. Once the passenger is in, the same button slides the seat back and it stops in the original position so you don’t mess up the adjustment every time you have a passenger. The button he used to slide the seat forward is actually the button you use to adjust the seat forwards and backwards while you’re seated.

Audi s5's while very nice arent that expensive when it comes to a used model, they are prone to issues later in their life and ususually are somewhat reasonably priced. Not knocking it, just pointing it out because im sure many people think its like a 60k car

I'm with the other manual snobs on this one. Unless you're routinely mired in stop-and-go, you're missing out. The sports car experience has a sort of driver engagement 'uncanny valley' into which most automatics fall. To the left, you have manual. To the narrow sliver on the right, you have race drivers using paddle shifters attached to specialized trannys in dedicated track cars. Much has been written on the subject, most of it subjective in nature, but there have been objective studies that support said subjective opining, most notably: driver attentiveness. If this is your first legit 'sports car,' and you find it thrilling, consider learning stick. Afterwards, the lack of a stick and clutch will feel something like going back to those early 3d shooters where you couldn't jump. Get your licks in now before the smart cars take over.

Nice S5, I haven't seen many that color, washed it should look amazing! One thing I would watch out for is the timing chain tensioners, the 4.2 is notorious for having timing chain problems, and you need to pull the engine to do any repairs that have to do with the timing chain. That is one reason why I got an S4 with a 2.7tt V6 over a S4 with the 4.2 V8. Nice car though!
@TheTardis157

Aren't the chains on the back of the engine? What a poor design choice from a servicing perspective.
@optimusjaan25
@optimusjaan25 7 жыл бұрын
TheTardis157 Exactly, the maze of chains, tensioners, guides, etc. all at the back of the engine which is why you have to pull the engine to do anything to it. Terrible design as you said, it's odd though as they still do this with their 3 liter supercharged V6.

Not as big an issue with the newer 4.2s. That problem plagued older S4s, etc. By 2011, Audi had already addressed that. This car has more issues with carbon build up than anything else.

But you are missing out on many new tech features, but if those aren't important to you, than a used higher end older car may be better for your needs. For me, I'd be more inclined to buy a $20k 2017 car with inferior looking interiors, but more features than a Audi from 2011.

This car is loaded with technology, its just might not have as clear of a navigation system as a new car. Quattro AWD with Electronic Differential (Able to shift power up to 100% to one wheel) , DOHC valve 40 Valve V8 (5V per cylinder. Lambo Huracan only has 4, Vette 2). The mechanics of the car plenty of tech as well as with the electronics.

That seat has something like a door-handle on the upper right side of the seat. Pull it and the backrest will lay down and you can move the seat forward without using the seat adjustment buttons. Put the backrest back in position and the seat will probably slide back into its position. Just pull harder on that door-handle like thingy on the seat and even bigger people can get into the back.

Usually the seat bends forward after, there is probably a lever that releases the seat so people can get in the back. It has been that way since at least the 70s. Don't know why an Audi wouldn't suddenly do that in their coupe.

tenplex you can see the red lever just below the headrest! Not hard to notice. I have a 2009 A5 and it has that, you telling my an S5 wouldn't? Also, when you pull the lever and the seat bends forward, there's also a button marked with 2 arrows, one indicating forward and one the opposite, so the seats can be MOVED forward extra, there's plenty of space to get in the back, he was just being dumb I think or didn't pay attention, but I don't know how you can not see that lever right on the seat shoulder!

First thing you have to do is get a new exhaust, if you like the idea of something that not only is loud enough to kill at close range but will force everyone you drive by to need a change of underwear. That 4.2 sounds beautiful when paired with a good exhaust.

AutoManiak From what I read the most prevalent problem is carbon build up. I met a few guys with the same car with 150k miles and they said no problems with regular maintenance. The 2011-2012 are more reliable than the model years prior. Just check the carfax
