-7 to -20C Celsius every single day for 2 months when i leave my work i see a tesla pass me. it works fine. (i am not a fan of Teslas in any way shape or form! ) however the interior of Randys tesla looks good.

The Prius C was more or less, a Yaris with a hybrid system in it. The C stood for City. I"ve been in one of these, quite interesting. This color is called Sun Fusion, replacing Habanero, which was replaced again by Tangerine Splash. I'd drive this. Thanks for the video, Randy.

I had a 2013 Prius for 9 years and over 170,000 miles, and I did NOT have one single problem with it. Routine maintenance only. Best car ever.

@bradleypollack5658 I have family and we all had prius's. Total of 8 or 9. Never had problems with the cars. Tires,brakes oil changes, just regular maintenance. None ever went back to a dealer for service. They all had over 100,000 miles and a couple at 200,000. Never had battery issues either. I wanted to get another but no dealer had any. Great cars.

These Toyota hybrids use an excellent cvt that isn’t like most, it has no belt, it instead is ran by mechanical gears and it probably even more indestructible that a conventional Toyota transmission which already are great

I drove one of these Prius C's for a non profit i work for - it was a wicked little car! I had it down to 3.9L/100km but i also had it ripping 172kph (max speed) more than once - low centre of gravity it did great in the snow and was well over 400,000km on the ODO when it was replaced... this level 4 trim or whatever its called would be the one to get!

This is one of the most slept on Prius models by far other than maybe the Prius V plus the useful life aside from the battery is around 400,000 to 700,000 miles with basic maintenance. By the way to say it is four to five thousand to replace the battery is just way over the top unless overpaying an dealer to do said repair when it can be done as a diy from Nexcell.

I have a 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV! It gets 270 miles on a full charge depending on your driving habits! They were all on recalled because of the “Fires” from the battery’s! My battery finally gave a code and had to be replaced! I now have a brand new battery with a new 8 year warranty/100,000 miles! My Bolt is pure EV not like the Chevy Volt! I also have the Premier version that’s fully loaded with leather and all!

I've personally had great experience with the 1st Generation Chevy Volt. Getting About 65MPG Sometimes, it is closer to 90MPG. The 2013-2015 gets way better Gas mileage than the 2011-2012.

The volt and the soon to be built Ram Charger are the right answer to the EV question as technology sits today. A decent amount of EV only range that will get you through your errands, but a gas range extender to take you further as needed. Not that long ago, Randy had that BMW and showed what it could do on long trips

Fun fact about the transmission it’s an E-CVT which means it doesn’t have a belt. It uses motors and planetary gears to change the speed of the transmission.

You did make a mistake in this videos regarding the transmission, it doesn't have a conventional CVT at all but rather an electronic trans transaxle being just two electric motors and a small planetary set. Also the 1.5 isn't plagued with all the issues the 1.8 has so no oil burning, no blown head gaskets, and no egr issues.

2:37 the prius doesnt have a CVT gearbox but its just two electric motors inline plus a set of planetary gears and thats it, the electric motors acts as starter and also drives the car.

The Prius is a great company vehicle my work has 4 and they always consistently get about 200k out of them and use very little gas the whole time then they just replace them at 200k before they break

You don't have to get a Prius either, I have a Camry hybrid, you can get a Rav4 or Corolla and the hybrid versions are exactly like the gasoline only models in appearance and functionality. Gone are the days of getting a hybrid and losing half your trunk space! GM's Volt hybrid tech was wasted, they could have had Equinox and Malibu based Volt models years ago.

Keep in mind the 4th gen 2016-2022 has an updated 1.8L that has taken care of the 3rd gen issues I’ve seen 4th gen with over 700k on the odometer

I was passed down my wife's tiny Prius C-3 about 4 years ago and I must say that this tiny car is addictive!. It is dead reliable, perfect as a city car, adequate on the highway, comfortable and a little bit funky, in the way that my air cooled VWs were in their day. I just love it, and prefer it on a daily basis to my much larger CUV. I have no desire to own a Tesla. Thanks for the review.

You also have to take in consideration the cost of insuring the Tesla compared to the Prius, Teslas are so expensive and any damage it’s going to be crazy expensive

I think the Prius is a great buy actually! Looks in pretty good shape with nothing really wrong and the interior is still pretty nice. Check the ownership history I wouldn't be surprised if it was a either a meticulous 1 owner or maybe even a company vehicle. Plus its got the booklets and everything works! Good score Randy this will be a nice trip for you.

one thing that was not mentioned is that its an e-CVT. not your typical CVT. the “hybrid” is in the transmission. it’s actually your typical planetary gear transmission, but with a little twist, making it seem like a CVT.

Eco mode on cars adjust your transmission for shorter shifts and is only recommended for in town local driving and not for highway driving. I have that on my Kia and that's what it says in the manual. Sport or normal mode you can use on highway.

Just two days ago my daughter and I took her 2009 with 170k for a road trip… it was perfect mpg conditions, 100 miles of back roads, sub 60mph speeds, relatively flat, good temps…. She did 55mpg !!!! Drive it home on the interstate and on a 225 miles trip she pulled down 52 mpg… that’s in a $1900 Prius I got from copart because it has a dent in the door and 1/4….

The new Prius is pretty cool looking and there are other great hybrid options from both Toyota and other manufacturers that are worth considering. My wife is in a new Corolla Cross Hybrid and I love it. 40+ mpg around town. High 30's if you drone along at 75 mph. It's reasonably quick and torquey off the line. I'd love an EV for local driving. We could have bought one, but I want easy road trip refueling. Hybrid still makes a lot of sense.

These Prius Cs (aka Yaris) are excellent cars. Drive them for work doing commercial building Fire Alarm system programming & repairs. Small, great in the city CBD here in Sydney. Fleet just upgraded me to the new Yaris Hybrid, looks similar to the GR Yaris. Again, well optioned for what it is and comfortable and quiet to drive. They remove the back seats in them and turn it into a cargo van, roof racks racks for ladders etc, even still, will get 3.8L per 100km (like 60MPG). Crazy!

Year, exterior color, interior trim, NJ origin and intact car booklet... Have you checked ownership history? This car fits as a glove Taxi usage on East Coast. About that time, particularly in NY/NJ area they allowed and encouraged small hybrids for Taxi fleets. Have been driven in exact model and trim taxis in NJ.

I am in year 12 owning an Ebike! Because of it my 2007 Prius and 2000 Ranger pickup get driven 2-3k miles a year. My cost for transportation is nearly nothing. Waiting for a Maverick like truck in a EV . I spent $2000 plus $700 in parts for the Prius. At the time I bought the car the catalytic converter was worth over $1000, so just parting it out would make me money. If I drive 55 mph or slower I get over 50 mpg or 46 mpg at 70 mph.

Same are different market, they still make them under a different name for Japan with an updated battery but everywhere else the last model year is 2019.
