Today is an exciting day, as I unboxing and take a close look at the original art from the complete book of Sergio Aragones' GROO THE WANDERER #89! This is one of the crown jewels in my collection by the World's Faster Cartoonist!
I have been a huge fan of Sergio ever since the 80's when I was reading Mad Magazine and seeing his animations on Dick Clarke's TV's Bloopers & Practical Jokes, along with reading Groo the Wanderer. I have the cover to Groo El Errante #5 and was recently able to secure a Wolverine and Groo team up sketch on a charity livestream for The National Cartoonist Society Foundation. But I still wanted a cover from his main Marvel Comics run. In the process, I came upon the complete issue of Groo the Wanderer #89! Thisi issue ticked a lot of boxes for me. It featured a cover with Chakaal, Groo and Rufferto, an amazing highly detailed double page spread, some action packed splash pages and a ton of Groo supporting characters. This issue came with a lot of bonus stories and games as well making it an ideal Sergio Aragones example to have in my collection.
