Ben, in the UK, a Milltek Cat Back exhaust would be the way to go but buy the one without the rear Cats because this car has 4 Cats & only the front ones are needed in the UK. The Milltek has a lifetime guarantee, weighs less than the original thus making the car lighter, looks better, is made from high quality aircraft steal so will never rust, sounds meaty without droning or booming like a "Boy Racer" & adds around 5-10% more power but more importantly, spreads that torque curve so that it's across a wider range thus making it more drivable. You can also upgrade the front side/fog lamps & rear clusters to LED making the car look just like the Gen2 model thus more modern! I'd also recommend fitting some grilles to the front vents in order to protect the rads from getting leaves stuck in there & rotting them plus protecting them from stone damage which tends to happen during motorway driving.

Since I’ll be moving to UK soon, I’m thinking whether I should ship it to UK or should I better and easier to find a similar one in UK. Shipping will cost about 30 K pounds. Your advice is appreciated.

This is certainly better than your previous Z4 e89 twin turbo, the car looks as some core as a slush puppie. I bet it's fast but that Z4 missed the point, more of a GT than a sport car of the e85 / 86 generation. The Boxster is a far better choice in my opinion.

@gianlucavignali4 жыл бұрын
Is your car a 3.2 or 3.4? The 3.2's have the IMS bearing issue where if it goes, the engine will fail too. If you haven't had it checked already, I would get it checked asap. Other than that, you've bought a great car. Will be interesting what you think of it because i'm stuck between whether to get a boxster s or a z4 35i.
@be14414 жыл бұрын
It's a 3.2 and not too worried about the IMS as it only affected 8% of boxsters but will have it checked at some point for piece of mind
@ferryporsha74014 жыл бұрын
That's not strictly correct! 986's within certain years were potentially at risk with this issue but it only applies to very early 987s. It’s therefore worth knowing some facts about the IMS issue because it was blown out of all proportion & to date I’ve only come across a few 987 owners who it happened to so it’s not the epidemic that some would have you believe or all Boxster (986/987), 911 (996/997) & Cayman (987) owners would be in serious trouble, which is far from the case! I’ll summarise the main points below but you’ll need to know which Model Year the car is in order to apply the following: You can tell which MY the car is by looking at the car’s VIN / Chassis number. If it’s a MY 2005 then it could have either the smaller Dual-Row IMS Bearing which had a global failure rate of about 8% (according to the information published by the Eisen IMS Class Action Lawsuit), or the stronger larger Single-Row Bearing as fitted to the MY2006! Again, according to the said lawsuit, the transition point between the different bearings was 21st February 2005, in that cars built after this date should have the larger bearing. If it is a MY 2006 onwards car, then it’ll have the revised much larger Single-Row IMS Bearing for sure which has the same load capacity of the original Dual-Row Bearing (as fitted to pre-2001 models), which have been found to have a less than 1% failure rate. However, due to the newer & improved design of this revised bearing, we now know that it can take a ton more load & has to date been the most reliable version of the IMS Bearing we've seen as since it was introduced during 2005, I'm only aware of 3 engine failures using this revision as of today! There is however one caveat to this & that is if the car has already had a replacement engine in which case one will need to know what engine & bearing was used as the replacement. Of course, you maybe lucky in that the previous owner having already replaced the bearing. If you find a good independent specialist, the cost of the work & parts aren't that expensive. These cars are actually more reliable & cheaper to maintain than an equivalent BMW. This is why I would recommend getting the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity or Production as it’s now called which will reveal the actual factory build date & the serial number of the original engine which you can cross check against what you see in your car currently.

Just be careful I bought a 55 3.2 thinking it was the most sensible version to replace my Z4M coupe, had 66k on it the engine blew up in 1000 miles/2 weeks. The bill to sort it was £11500 and I paid 12k for it... thankfully I managed to take it back to the garage under consumer rights... take it to a specialist to get checked out before you start driving it like your z 👍🏻

@MrRoyck104 жыл бұрын
Alex Nduaguibe on the S54 engine which is a heavy block you will notice the difference when you drive the boxster S, even when you drive Z4 3.0 Si with a light engine block you will notice the difference with your current car Z4. However the 2.7 will be slightly underpowered in comparison with your car. The Boxster 3.2 will be marginally more powerful than the Z4 Si but will more powerful than the Z4 3.0. I have been through these car and now assessing Cayman S against my 3.0 Si coupe as a possible replacement.
@ianedmonds91913 жыл бұрын
@@MrRoyck10 He never said he had a Z4M. Just a Z4 3.0i so probably an M54B30. The truth is moving to a 3.2S or even a 3.4S will be a bit faster in a straight line over time but the real benefit of a mid engine sportscar is how it can carry speed through the corners. Mid engined cars are like witchcraft if you've only driven massive front engined cars through twisty roads. Engine at the front has large angular momentum. It's hard to turn. Heavy person on one end of the see saw Mid engined car. All the weight is central to the whole layout. Much less force to change the direction and momentum of the car. Better handling. To test this get on a spinning stool and put your hands out wide. Make someone spin your then pull your hands in. You will spin faster since less energy is required to make you spin. Cars work the same. Central mass is good for cornering. Luv and Peace.

As of today, you won't find a 987S with low millage for less than around £10k privately, at least about £2k more from a reputable dealer with a warranty! You will find a 986S which is the previous gen or a 987 2.7 for that price. I'm also taking about ones which still have all the original bodywork because I've come across cheap 987S which have been involved in accidents & apart from difficulties insuring them, no Porsche enthusiast will touch with a barge poll. Incidentally, I'm well connected with the dealer network, Porsche approved repair centres & the PCGB.
