Seeing that PS2 start up screen on a CRT TV. It just brings me back to the early days. I am currently in my same room with a same dresser where my CRT and PS2 used to sit. Now has been replaced with the 50” inch flat screen and a PS4. I miss my CRT and PS2 :(

We had a back projection TV back in the day. That thing was Destroyed in 2011 along with the house. We moved back into a newly built house on the same property and got a projector instead (with the insurance money) that only tends to work with HD signals through the sound system anyway. (Or atleast the way it’s currently set up. That’s fine one day at Goodwill a dude brought over this Sony 2005 Trinitron it looked so good. I had to have it and to my surprise my boss let me ask if he could set it aside and me and her got it in my Ford Focus. She was a real sweetheart. We aren’t allowed to sell Tube TVs at my local Goodwill. It has one component. Looking at it now I wish it had 3.

I recently bought a crt tv for my ps2 and it looks crispy. I bought a crt tv that was smal but not to small, it could fit on my desk and i could put it back in my closet if i finished gaming and use my desk for other stuff. Crt’s are the best.

Better yet, I tracked down a CRT with stereo speakers and component video input (though only 14", it fits on my desk next to my flat-panel PC monitor) for the relatively low price of $135 on eBay.

I was born in 1991 myself, but I still remember a lot of wonderful memories playing the PS2 back in the 2000s when I was a teenager since the PS2 was one of the game consoles that I grew up with. Those were the days and I also really like both Gran Turismo 3: A-spec and Gran Turismo 4 too since I still have both games for my PS2 and they're my most favorite racing games on the system as well as my favorite games overall in the Gran Turismo series.

Born June 1991 myself. Been playing as far back as I can remember starting out on NES though most memories are SNES. After that was a PS1 probably 1997 I am guessing I got it and so many memories there. Move on to 2003 and I get my fat PS2 and yeah beat console ever. Ace Combat 4 is my absolute favorite PS2 game and my absolute favorite of any game past or present. Then there is WWE Shut Your Mouth I spent so many hours on as well as Here Comes the Pain which is better than SYM but not as nostalgia to me. Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, San Andreas still better than modern GTAV overall and I do love some GTAV. As for Gran Turismo 3 definitely love it as well and was playing it a few months ago. I have a greatest hits version so I assume the case cover picture for black label is red like this video as mine is blue cover art. Still need GT4 but I have 1 and 2 on PS1 as well as 3 on PS2 and 5 and 6 on PS3.

I was also born in 1991 myself, but I was born in August of that year since I was only born just a couple months after you. I still remember when I first got into video games myself, I personally started off with the PS1 which I first got for Christmas back in 2000 when I was only nine years old. Then fast forward to three years later in 2003, I got a PS2 for Christmas that same year too although I mostly got just a lot of third-party games for the PS2 at first, one of which was SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom which I also still enjoy playing every now and again. I also have GTA III, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas all for PS2 as well and while I really like all three GTA games, I really like both Vice City and San Andreas though better. That's nice that you finally got into GT3: A-spec for PS2 just a few months back and I know what you mean by the Greatest Hits version which is what I also have since my copy of the game also contains the blue cover art with the red Greatest Hits banner at the top of the game case. GT3 is personally my most favorite Gran Turismo game for PS2, but I also really like GT4 as well which I also have already. So far, I have all of the main Gran Turismo games in the series including the most recent game, GT7, which I just got this past Christmas for PS4. I also hope you'll be able to get GT4 soon for PS2 and it seems like a really fun racing game too since I would definitely recommend it myself.

The most CRT televisions I've ever seen at a Goodwill is at least 1 or 2 averagely. I even picked up a little RCA 13 inch color CRT tv at Goodwill early in 2017. Right now it's stored in the attic as I can't find use for it at the moment as of 2020, and I currently have an older CRT set in use in my room.

CRTs look surprisingly better with older technology hocked up. It’s not just about their picture though but also the sound they make and their speakers. I mainly use a CRT for watching old VHS (my flat screen Sony hates VHS and always drops out here and then). To say CRT TVs are retro gaming TVs would be an understatement. But they could be used for a whole variety of stuff even to this day. Most thrift shops/op shops don’t sell CRT TVs down here in australia and many say Don’t donate them. I’m lucky I got one for free it’s small but does virtually everything!

Decent find there man! I was born in 2001 and I do personally have a 25-ish inch RCA CRT with S-Video inputs and it looks much better than composite video (the yellow plug) b/c it basically gets rid of the dot crawl on hard edges due to artifacts left by the yellow plug. I recommend calibrating CRTs like I did, and the easiest is to find a DVD movie with a built-in THX Optimizer like Star Wars and some Pixar films. And since you have a PS2, you can adjust the TV since it famously plays DVD movies. 👍

Im using a 2005 trinitron 21", 60hz, component, stereo with a subwoofer on the top of it and I think it's perfect for me! it only cost me about $14 lol. I enjoy playing my genesis on it. I really wanna play some ps1 and 2 games on my crt

Look for a Sony KV Trinitron. Those usually have the best looking picture display of any CRT. Great sound quality as well.

CRT TV's are awesome! I couldn't find one but I found a good alternative. Believe it or not if you can find a Sony Playstation 3D display, set it to cinema mode and get component cables for the PS2. It'll deinterlace the footage properly and make it look like it was on a CRT!

That's a lot better than using the PS2 on an LCD through whatever composite cable converter you have if any. However you haven't scratched the surface of its image quality on a CRT until you have at least used it with a decent component cable or a good C-Sync scart RGB like they have at retro gaming cables, if you've never seen it it will blow your mind. Of course, you'd need a decent quality CRT like a Sony Trinitron to make the most of it.

@@zeebpc yes your right, these tvs are really old & back when they were manufactured the capacitors used where not as good as the ones we have now.most of the capacitors probably lost they value an are pulling a little bit more power from near by capacitors to compensate causing issues like colour lost,picture quality issues, heat problems ,weird noise an more..some of these tvs are over 30years & you have no idea how heavily they were used ...so the best thing is to recap the capacitors making the TV brand new again with caps capable of out lasting your grand kids .

Lame Goodwill in my area wont take crts or tvs before a certain date in the mid 2000s and they are no longer sell them. I used to go once in a while and dound small Trinitrons and Toshibas.

Love the video. I picked up a 31" 2002 ds31520 sanyo tv for free. But waiting on the remote from Amazon (required to change mode input ☹) can't wait to play ps2 on it with my kids. Currently playing Baldur's gate 2 Co op with my son on the projector.

The reason why picture sucked on your monitor is you used av cables. It looks way better with component cables like night and day. Av cables are very blurry. I suggest getting a crt with component cable inputs for best quality though this tv doesnt even have stereo speakers that's why it only has two ports: one for picture(yellow) other for left or right audio(white). It needs the red cable for the other part of the audio.

I have a PS2 fat connected to my LCD via Component and a PS2 slim connected to my CRT TV via RGB SCART.. The two best ways to connect to monitors "I am in the UK" Gran Turismo on the PS2 can run at 1080i on a LCD via the Component lead.

If you want a good CRT TV, then get a Sony Trinitron. Some of them even have component video. However they are a bit hard to find in thrift stores.

Not weird, that's common with battery failures from age and overcharging damage. I have an entire bin full of batteries like that to be scrapped.

I actually have several of the wooden cabinet TVs. (The UK equivalents) 2 20” and 1 26” screen. All from the 1970s. Space can be an issue for them, but they can often fit in quite well. One of my 20” sets was in the living room for a while, and it looked okay.

Red for right channel and stereo singal tv only has one speaker so it's mono tv that's why some TV's only get let get stereo with along broadcast but need get stereo crt tv use red for stereo audio

Dude you need to RGB mod it. Get some good stereo audio too. A tv that big would look good modded.

I’ve worked at Goodwill for years and we didn’t even take Tube TVs. Where do you live? The South? You don’t sound like you do.

I couldn't find any crt tv's near my goodwills in California so I bought one eBay and god they were going for alot of money and cheapest one I found was $80 vhs combo 13 inch a few years ago.

You should get a DTV converter box if you want to watch normal live TV.

A, Just picked up my third crt, a 32"sharp. B, you should have looked for one with s video, that silver one may have had it and they do make s video cables for ps2, I use one for my ps3 and its a pretty clean image. C, very obvious forza player lol

I went to the goodwill today and in their tv section there was only flatscreens and no crts

They are probably sold out for now cause when I told one of the employees about the CRT TVs not being on stock they told me that they would have a couple on stock eventually.
