Here is a little video of my new Gibson J-35 acoustic guitar. I love it. I've put some Martin Retro strings on it that I really recommend if you're after a more vintage sound from your acoustics.

Which string gauge do you play in the video ? I think the J-35 and 45 are factory fitted with 12 gauge strings. About your Thomann link there is the Retro only in 13er, 11er or 10er gauge. 12er are probably sold out or no longer available.

I’ve had my J35 for a few years now and it just keeps sounding better and more vibrant. Seems to excel in finger picking to medium strumming…at a certain point it just doesn’t want any more input. I really like the balanced and sweet sounds it makes. Hope you enjoy yours …. Really enjoyed your songs.

J-35 with that open Sitka bracing is always a winner. Deep tone.

Sounds nice! I have always preferred the sound of Gibson acoustics also. I have a SJ-200 1968 reissue just like Jimmy and Keith played. Yes, it does have that Zeppelin and Stones sound. 🤗

Yes!!! I have this model! It’s so good sounding. Threw an L.R. Baggs Anthem in it and it sounds great

There is a system in it. Haven't looked at it - I never play acoustic live.

I have had two of these, both excellent, still have one and it is as good as any Gibson I have ever owned (many). Lightly built, not really much like the similar j 45, has the perfect neck (for me), pretty much half round like the old timers , but with 1 and 11/16ths nut, so comfortable. Great bass and full ensemble sound, great for chording/strumming. Simple, unadorned, to the point, all business, and terrific value. Nicely presented video, thanks.

You made a good choice! I love my J35....bought it new in 2017......those Martin retros do sound good on it! I have to use coated strings due to my ph.....I can rust a set if uncoated in a couple days..

I bought one of these when they just came out. It’s been my main acoustic ever since. I absolutely love it and haven’t thought about another acoustic at all in the years I’ve owned it.

Herlig gitar! For 6 år siden var jeg i den deilige situasjonen at jeg hadde ca 35 000,- øremerket til kassegitar. Så jeg gikk inn på 4SOUND i Trondheim og visste jeg ville ha penger nok til å kjøpe den dyreste de hadde inne. Jeg prøvde alle uten å se på prislappen og forelsket meg i denne, J-35! Den var da på tilbud til 13 500 eller noe, så det var også deilig. Har siden da spilt inn neste én million kroner med denne gitaren på konserter, event, begravelser osv, brukt den i flere tv-opptredener og den har aldri sviktet meg! Er fortsatt litt småforelsket i den og blir alltid glad for å ta den frem, si. Takk for tips med strengene! Kim

For whatever reason my 70s japanese kasuga acoustic kills every other acoustic I've compared it to. It's warm and sweet sounding, and to my ears it sounds better with my voice than any other acoustic I've tried.

Best allround acoustic I've ever owned. Rounded sound that is more pleasing in many scenarios. Not as bright as Furch or Martin if you want to cut through the mix, but for my musical needs, it's the absolute best.

May I suggest you try some Thomastik strings, which have silk layer, 1, 2 are plain, 3-5 are flat wound phosphor bronze and 6 is round wound bronze. They are amazing strings I have used for decades. I think you will like them.

I bought a new one a few months ago, probably the last one in the market. If these guitars had human voices then the J45 would be a Jonas Kaufmann and the J35 an Alfredo Kraus. This J35 will be my main instrument for many years to come. It has exactly the sound that I like - and no intention to buy another guitar.

Great decision! Love my bird and j45. IMO better playability and sound than Martin. Automatically knew it was a j35. 🔥

Nice…the strings sound good…I own a 2014 Gibson J-15 that I liked better then the J-35 at the time I didn’t like the forward shifted X bracing

Good stuff. Having found a second hand J35 myself only last week I’m absolutely bowled over by it. So light and resonant and it’s actually improved my playing because it’s so easy to play
