I have a 13 ls460. It’s a great platform. The most comfortable car I’ve owned by far. Incredibly quiet and spacious. I got the rwd version, so there is plenty of power. Thanks for making this video, would be interested seeing a muffler swap for something that allows the beautiful v8 sound to be heard a little better (without totally compromising the luxurious aspect of the car).

How many miles on yours? I have an 08 with 100K bought 6 years ago. Keep hearing on KZfaq channels that it’s the worst Lexus for reliability but don’t want to get rid of it because it’s the smoothest Lexus as you may already know lol

@@AJ88874 completely agree. I always get a loaner car whenever I take my LS for a fix. They've handed me over the latest IS, ES, RX and none of them compare to how buttery smooth my 07 is. I’m definitely gonna keep an eye on this! I’m in the process of picking one up as well, but it’s an ‘08. It’s a coworker friend of mine’s and if he does sell it to me at the price he threw out, it’s going to be a STEAL! I’m going into this knowing full well that I’ll more than likely have to swap to coil overs and/or replace/upgrade the front suspension! I’ve already looked into Figz and everything should come out to around approximately $3,500. The only “down” side is, the car isn’t black…it’s silver! 😩. It’s ok tho, because after is all said and done, if I decide to sell, I’m more than positive that I’ll still be able to break even or possibly make a profit on it! Can’t wait for your future vids! 👍🏼

Long time sub here. I’m super excited to see this project actually. I sold my is350 over a year ago and regretted it ever since. I’ve been thinking about getting another Lexus platform myself. I had a 22 trd orp 4runner and got tired of the horrible mpg and got a 23 accord hybrid now and it’s a lemon. I’m taking it to the dealer next week to sell it or something but I’m going to be on the hunt for a used higher mileage Lexus I can just pay cash for and enjoy modding it. A big body ls would be perfect or a gs. I loved my is but as you said they are a little cramped. I do believe you should do a compression test on the motor to see how it sits and also be sure you change all the plugs and coils at once. It’s a really bad idea to do one at a time because they all will start failing behind each other and that’s extra labor each time. I’ve had HORRIBLE luck getting away with replacing one coil and one plug. It’s just never a good idea as a performance standpoint also. They do have a lifespan and assume they both need to be done. Look on eBay and find a set of new ones for cheap and go to Lexus and buy the plus. Oem plugs and oem Coils is the only way I’d go. Never use cheap aftermarket coils or plugs on a v8 it’s not worth it. I would think that a better intake will probably give you a significant lower intake air temp and power too esp where it matters. They design those to be as quiet as possible at the sacrifice of power. So keep that in mind they market those towards older folks so a simple intake and exhaust and a tune will bring it over 400 possibly … or close to it. The other thing id do is add a nice subwoofer and amp and do some clean jdm vip wheels. This had jdm vip vibes all over it. ❤ Can’t wait to see more on this ! This might inspire me to get one because your older videos are what inspired me a ton on my is350 back then
@MartyMotoring7 ай бұрын
VIP would be awesome and yes I did all the spark plugs off camera, just to rule those out. I think the ignition coils are fine at this point and want to see what else it could be. Compression test and injector cleaning might help

Lexus's V6 doesn't usually have issues, but their 4.6 and 5.0 V8 have some costly issues. Pain the in the butt just to work on them. Since the LS is a larger vehicle, maybe not.

I’ve had the 98 ls400,2005 Ls430, 2008 Ls 460 and I currently have a 2008 ISF. Big Lexus fan as what major things go wrong? I’ll follow your tinker with the Ls460 and see how far you take it.. Suspension controller, Wheels and an exhaust is all you need to play with on these as they are beautiful just the way they are 🤩

GS450H Fsport 2012 is practically identical to this interior/exteriorwise other than the engine. 2GR-FXE is sweet especially doing 550miles on 50L tank

I’m guessing no, but did the previous owner disclose the misfire issues? Or for the price, was any problem encountered acceptable for you?

It is my dream car. Exactly this particular trim. Facelift with AWD and Mark Levinson audio system. Too bad their prices have gone up and facelift models were expensive to begin with.

I drive a 2019 A8L and LOVE it. I believe it is in the same category but a bit longer since they only sell the Long version in the US. They are amazing on the highway for long trips.

Was looking at these then saw the Hyundai genesis 5.0 ultimate. What do you know about these cars?

I’m new to your channel but I like what I see, you should see if you could pick up a scion XB at a good price. They are phenomenal cars with a lot of room.

Had a '08 460 w/250k miles. Bulletproof engine, other than regular maintenance, only thing I had to change we're front control arm bushings and shocks. AFS sensors tend to go out, but it's negligible.

Keep an eye out on coolant level. It will blow cold air when the heat is on if coolant is low. They tend to leak on coolant valleys. Abs actuator is a high ticket item. Sunroof gasket becomes britle and makes lots of wind noise. You can’t just swap the gasket. Lexus decided to make it a whole piece with the glass and its around $800 bucks. Overall is a great car. Well built, comfortable and quiet. People swear by Lexus reliability which is true but with age that goes out the window as materials deteriorate
@MartyMotoring7 ай бұрын
For sure. Abs actuator got me on my old IS350. Coolant is nice and full so heat works well. The sunroof part sucks but I think I’m ok for now

I've been seriously considering the 2012 - 2016 (I believe, before the facelift) model for a couple of years now even though I know they will likely come with high miles. Like you, I would want it as my daily driver/project vehicle. The ones I've seen, nationwide, range from having 100,000 to 150,000 miles and are priced between $20,000 to $25,000. I just have not pulled the trigger on the purchase as I have not had much time to dedicate on it. I prefer the design before they went into the more aero-dynamic design, which I find totally unattractive. I like the square edges and I feel it presents a meaner stance, specifically the F Sport version. I also considered the GS but I ultimately think if I will spend some money, I'd rather go with the largest sedan Lexus has. This is a good investment and can last you some time, being that it really is a Toyota. I think with maintenance and TLC, you can likely put another 100,00 plus in the vehicle. Yes, there is really not much online as far as folks doing the same purchase. But there are some and you just have to do some searching. Good luck!

Are those prices for F Sport versions? I've seen plenty of $20K to $25K LS 460s that are not F Sports with fewer than 100K miles. Where are your looking when you search for vehicles for sale and what search are you using? (Autotrader, Autotempest, CarGurus, Google, etc)
@ronaldr.2367 ай бұрын
@@ryanr2949 It’s a mixed bag, but you are correct. The majority of non-F Sport versions around the $25K price range have lower mileage. I Google search but mostly use CarGurus. I am ok with high miles but just could not fathom spending upwards of $25K for it, plus more on rebuilding.

Hell, yeah, i'd like to see some coil overs on that bad boy. How about a cold air intake? And some long tube headers along with an underdrive pulley. And it'll be a fun little daily!!..🍺

Wow you’ve been getting lucky with these higher mileage cars for a good deal…wish I were that lucky lol. Hopefully no big issues come to it in the future. Also wish the Lexus community was bigger

Literally almost made this move. Wanted to sell my GX470 for a 13+ F sport. Didn't end up making the move and I'm glad I didn't because the GX is paid off and right after that our AC at the house went out. But was gonna rip that muffler off, leave it stock and let it eat. (also former ISF owner)

I’ve got a 2015 LS fsport bought used in 2018. Fantastic car, no issues until last month with 146k miles. The front driver air shock leaked. Cost 1250 from a discount Lexus dealer. But the air compressor broke too. 2460 for just the part on that. So yeah, super reliable but when it breaks prepare yourself. That 4800 bill came out of nowhere. But now she’s super smooth and making me happy again
