I just got the Retrospec Zed Longboard (I'll link it below) and I LOVE IT! You probably might be able to tell that I have no idea what I'm talking about in this video, but I think that confirms that this is a great beginner board:) Also, just to let you know, I rode the board right before filming this video, which is why the deck (???) was scuffed.

lol same, like yesterday night and the day before I started to try and learn how to ride a longboard because my next door neighbor has one and she let me practice on it. I got the hang of it and this week I’m probably gonna order one!! It’s super fun 😆💕

@@lemonmouse9970 it is extremely fun! I live on a gravel road which kinda stinks, but I go over to a huge open mall on the side where many businessess are closed down, a highway low traffic, with a variety of parking lots and curves and elevations super cool!

You totally should! I started messing around with a walmart longboard when i was like 8 and i lost it but i recently found a little 16 inch trick board and that wasnt for me so i got one of these in the black pipe color and got new wheels and trucks and it is amazing

Hey haley, i've noticed that when you're rolling you keep your front foot straight and your back foot sideways, that's uncomfortable and difficult to balance when you need to carve, your front foot needs to be straight only when you need to push, then once you start rolling stand with both feet sideways, it's easier and more controllable, i hope this helps you to enjoy your rides !

Relentless_Animal it’s wonderful I could easily ride around on cement or street roads. I would give it 4 stars. I think it just depends what type of tricks you are going to do.

It's not the wheels that are tight they can't be tight lol. The nut connected to the bearing inside your wheel seems to be a little tight though. When you spun it it didn't spin for very long. If you loosened it just the slightest until the wheel spun for at least 1 second the board will ride smoother, and your bearings will last longer so that you won't have to replace them so soon.

I bought that exact same board last October. The board itself is great. The bearings are terrible and likewise the wheels and trucks. I’ve put Orangatang 4 Pres wheels with bones Swiss bearings along with Paris V3 trucks and it’s now an excellent board. If you’re a beginner then the board you’ve just purchased is fine. Depending on how often you longboard you may want to either upgrade or buy a better complete.

Bruh just bought a Magneto board of the same shape and now I’m even more hype! It’s bamboo and maple with a sand grit to act as the grip tape. Super stoked now

Try keeping your feet perpendicular to the board! It really helps with balance and turning. A lot of beginners have the T foot stance don’t worry.

Dude we’re the same hight, got the same board form retrospec, 44 inches, everything the same but the color. The only difference is that mine is getting here in july😂

I just purchased this SAME board. I took it to a local skate shop to change out the bearings because the wheels did not spin as smooth as my other board. There are spacers in there along with the bearings and that is what is keeping the wheels from rolling longer. Removing those spacers have made a LARGE difference. One push and I’m rolling a good distance.

My longboard cost me between £80-£100 and ($98-$123) and even then it’s still considered a “cheap” longboard apparently a good longboard is somewhere in the £150+ ($185+) range and feels a lot better to ride on as well as turning much better. P.S. you’re supposed to bend your knees a little when skating helps with steering and balancing and you should also have both of your feet facing sideways when you’re not pushing for better steering and balancing and when you wanna push move the front foot forward and push then go back into position I found doing these thing has helped me a lot :)

I just got my first longboard in July. I'm was in the same boat. I'd never even touched a board before. But best impulse purchase ever! So far I've only gotten two blocks from my house but it's still progress! And I named mine too. It's got a graphic with tropical birds and plants so I wanted to go with the tropical theme. So I named my board Humuhumunukunukuapua'a after the Hawaiian fish. In English it's known as the Reef Triggerfish so her nickname is Trig.

There is size recommendations for longboard lengths. For example I’m 5’2” and have a 33” longboard because if I had a really long one it would be hard to control.

All you have to do is lean! After some practice you’ll feel comfortable enough to make sharper turns. Also be careful and make sure to wear a helmet:))

small tip, turn your front foot out so its the same as the back foot (sorry if that's confusing) It helps with controlling the board.

There isn’t! I think there are different board shapes that have different widths, but it’s more about what you want to do on the board!

It’s just always been that way😂 However, I do use products to keep it controlled: -It’s a 10 miracle silk leave-in spray -Tresemme Flawlwss Curls Mousse -Sun Bum Curls & Waves Styling Cream I comb it with my fingers when it’s wet instead of brushing it and I try my best to not straighten it often.

Try having both feet parallel to eachother so you can steer more easily! I'm thinking of getting a longboard for myself. I really like one of the designs from Zumiez but its almost 200 bucks. I like the pintail on the Zumiez one but this one looks more affordable.

I'd suggest some "grip gum". It helps you clean the griptape and makes it look like new

I'll look into it! The grip on the deck (? lol) is rubbing off, so I'm not sure what to do about that haha. Do I need to buy new griptape or something?

@@haley_nicoleh I'm almost positive that's just residue from your shoes. Both of my siblings' griptape looks like that and you can clean it off. It's very unlikely that it would already be wearing. Before you pay $20-$30 bucks for New griptape, id suggest paying 5 bucks for grip gum on Amazon. It's a life saver. If you're fixed on getting new griptape, muirskate.com is a great place to buy it as they're a trusted skateboard seller, and they give back to the skating community. There are lots of tutorials on how to put on/remove griptape id you choose to do so. I hope this clears up some confusion and feel free to ask more questions.

Big Brain Squirrel Named Carlo thank you! There are patches where the grip has rubbed off completely. I think its because I rode my board after it had rained (big mistake on my part🙈) and water must have eroded the grip somehow? I also noticed some stress cracks appearing longitudinally from where the trucks are and I’m not sure if that’s from something I did or if I should contact retrospect (this was before I ever rode it through any water, just to make it clear). I’m sorry for so many questions haha

If you ever end up taking it apart remember the bushings should point out otherwise when you turn left you’ll actually turn right

I just bought one, so hard to decide but I ended up choosing marble. I actually want to longboard dance along with some free styling but 1. I’m broke and 2. Yeah I’m broke lmao so this was a close enough option for an affordable board with a similar size to what I was looking for.

No clue how I stumbled across this video, but I’m an avid longboarder. I would recommend upgrading the bearings on this board! Bones Reds are super cheap, $15-20 and make all difference. Also those wheels look very tight, they should be able to spin on their own for up to a minute without stopping
