Yes, I find that to be true! I just love the "analog" feel of these buttons and how you can control everything with just a twist of a knob or two. Ever since I owned and have been playing with this instrument, I now find it hard to play on another stage piano because I find that I have to dig under some menus just to change something, LOL!

Thank you for your kind words! The version I have is the 73-key version, which is quite light compared to the other versions. There is a 76-key version and then there is the 88-key version, which is the heavy one!

LOL I think we are all like that: always wishing for something other than what we have! That Casio PSX3000 is a beauty; I was able to try one at a store and felt it sounds great!

That's great to hear; thanks for sharing! Nord instruments sure elicit so much love from owners! I used to own a Yamaha too, but an arrranger keyboard PSR series, then upgraded to a Roland RD-88 Stage Piano, just because that was what we were using in church early on. Then they pulled out the Nord in church that had been in storage because no one knew how to use it, LOL, and I ended up using it as second keys, so I decided to bite the bullet and trade in the Roland for the Stage 3, just so I can learn how to use it on my own and pass the knowledge to those in church. I've been loving playing this instrument daily and I still have the scratch the surface of what it's capable of!

@@RandySantaAna Very cool. I was in the market for a Roland P 90X but could not find one anywhere. Somehow while researching pianos, I stumbled on Nords and noticed many stores had the Nords in stock, (guessing cause of the high price point), and decided on it. That thing just makes me want to practice even when I don't want too haha

@@Gump-tion LOL I am with you on that one: practice just feels so much fun when you have this red thing of goodness! Just sounds so great to me too, even though I am just a novice! Well worth the high price, in my humble opinion.

More like most overpriced keyboard ever, very limited in programming, nothing like kurzweil VAST, and many keyboards can produce all the same sounds for far less $$$, but it is always nice to get a new instrument, and opening the box is the best

@@jemkeystv5717 I've had 3 kurzweils , 2 Yamaha motifs.. 2 Hammonds , including the B3...and XK3.. Leslie's, Motion Sound rotating speaker's... Fender Rhodes.. etc Nothing comes close to the sound the Nord in replacement of All of these instruments. Period.

@@lazaruslaser as long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters, for me its underwhelming programming capabilities gets in the way for live performance, I mean you can't even define your own split points, no numerical keypad, and it can't make any sound any other keyboard can't, but don't get me wrong, I do like the Nord keyboards

@@dabcoilxday6097 I think you might need to look at some more affordable options from Yamaha or Casio or Korg. This board is a bit complicated for beginners, being a stage piano. It also has no built-in speakers so you might need to spend more in order to make it sound like a real piano.

I fully agree! In my short time using it I am truly blown away by it's capabilities! I fully appreciate the fact that everything can be controlled without digging into a menu system; so great when using it in a live setting! I only listen to it via earphones at the moment, but the sound it creates, whether piano, synth or organ, just a pleasure to use! Truly worth the price!

What do you think about Yamaha YC series?

@@ricseehu I have not tried the Yamaha YC series yet, but I think it's more geared toward organ players. I am more into the piano sound, which was why I chose the Nord, though I am sure the YC series has good piano sound too. I do see similar design aspects with the Nord in the way it also has lots of buttons and knobs and faders. I appreciate how much more affordable it is compared to the Nord. I've owned a number of Yamaha in the past (guitar and keyboards) so I am sure they sound as good!

@@ricseehu Hey. I have tried them side by side (Nord Stage vs YC). This is just my personal opinion: Yamaha Sounds good, but the Nord still sounds alot more organic (and warmer)compared to the YC. There is also one aspect which alot of reviewers seems to forget about the Nord and that is the morph functionality(which when it comes to ease of use just blows the competition out of the water IMO) I’ve just recently been on a tour with an Norwegian artist (last concert yesterday), and the sound engineer said that the Nord pianosound/B3 was the best he had heard from any keyboard…

Greetings! No, the keys of this version of the Nord Stage 3 are not as heavy as a real piano. This one has more of a bit lighter feel. The 88-key version that we have in church also has a much lighter feeling keys. Nonetheless, you can still play dynamically with it.

Thank you very much for checking the video out! This particular version of the Nord Stage 3 has the "waterfall" action key bed, which is more geared towards organ playing, so it has a more softer touch and does not have the hammer action or piano action of the 88-key version. I am not an organ player, but from what I understand, doing those fast "sweeps" across the keys that organ players do is ideal with this key bed. Playing piano parts with it is still okay, though my Roland RD-88 has a more piano-feeling piano action. However, this board has a velocity control that I can set so I can be more expressive with piano playing, say, for playing softer and louder parts. I find that I have to be more sensitive and be more actively aware of how much pressure my fingers play in order to achieve more expressive piano sounds. I am just an amateur piano player but I have seen videos of more accomplished musicians play beautiful piano parts using this particular version of the Nord Stage 3.

Oh, I do hope someone who could read this can put their expert opinion as I don't have any experience with 61-key live gig set ups! I did dabble a bit using midi-keyboards, but that's it. I've heard of the Korg SV1 but have never played one, so apologies for not being able to give any concrete answer other than agreeing that the set up you are thinking of sounds like it will work well for you.

Sv1 is a 73 stage vintage Really great sounds snd feel Wish there was a 61 version

Stage 3 really does seem like a winner atm I’m not the key player but definitely into sounds and engineering Key player uses Juno ds 88 atm with a helix for effects and eq/amp and cabs We use samples too just for fun effects We are a space jazz outfit kinda like some Zappa deal but definitely not trying to mimic their sound or style necessarily Check super secret band out if you’d like

Your question made me look for a 61-key alternative but it looks like there's none out there at the moment as most alternatives has 73 keys as the most compact version. None of the 61-key version (including midi controllers) has the good electric piano or organ sounds that you are looking for, though 61-key midi controllers appear to offer some good synth sounds.

@@kodykindhart5644 Yes, I also see that the Nord is a good alternative to an SV1. I think the 73-key version is very portable as I already tried bringing it to church and find it manageable to carry every time.
