If you haven’t already bought a transmitter and receiver, buy a ready to fly beginner plane with a high wing tail wheel bush plane to get started in line of sight RC flying. Don’t worry about cameras or lights, just learn to fly.

I've always recommended the pusher motor design glider like the FMS Easy Trainer. When learning to fly in a normally designed plane, a simple ground strike with a normal plane could break the prop, motor, firewall which can end your day. When first learning forget trying to land on the runway. Just keep the airplane over the field. With a mid mounted pusher motor design, minor crashes might damage the nose, but not the motor area. A little tape and you're ready to go again. Years ago I did a video with someone with no experience from launch to landing and just following my instructions on giving it up or down elevator and right and left aileron he managed to keep his plane over the field and landed a little rough in the grass past the runway. He had a little walk to go get it. A little grass and dirt on the nose, but no damage. He dusted it off and was ready for another flight.

@@arkansasrcnewbie I forgot to mention, for those truly starting out and flying with no help. Turn your body slightly so the model is flying over your right or left shoulder and hold the transmitter antenna pointing the same direction the plane is flying. The reason why is directional control for the rudder and aileron will be the same as the airplane. Raw beginners get into trouble as the airplane is flying directly straight at them, the control is opposite, if you give left on the transmitter control the model turns right. Think of someone making a left turn in front of you. From your point of view they moving right. From their point of view, they are turning left.

Get a top wing TRAINER from E-Flite , With SAFE and AS3X when you've successfully flown and landed that safely . Move on to a warbird or low wing design , when you've successfully flown and LANDED that safely , you start thinking about the Viper . Unless you are hoping to destroy this first time out . Lots of helpful and friendly rc pilots out there . LISTEN to them PLEASE .

@@arkansasrcnewbie Glad you took this the right way . Lots have done what you did . Entering into RC aircraft is kinda a commitment at this scale , and especially at jet speeds . Ill give my very good friend as an example , He's been a long time RC guy. When I got into planes , he got excited by it too . But only wanted to have and fly ONE plane . The Warthog . While the plane cost $500 , the transmitter does too and so do a few batteries and good charger . Investing $1000 ... to fly just one plane , with ZERO experience .....a recipe for disaster and giving the hobby a bad rap if ya get me . Every Hobby Shop in existence has stories like these . LOL. and While its good for turnover , the industry , as a whole is set up for success . These companies don't build planes to CRASH . So , moving forward . I understand budgets very well my friend . Right now, un flown that plane is still worth what you paid for it . But without a proper 6 channel transmitter , receiver and set of 6S batteries . Its a shelf queen . That stuff will cost as much or more than the plane . Either keep it on the shelf , brand new as inspiration . Or maybe sell it for something less foreboding . You can pick up a proper 4 channel small plane with transmitter and batts for around $100 . The mini Warbirds are a good example . Id start there and see how much you actually like and enjoy flying compared to other RCs you do like .I've had the bug for some time and done it all from 1/5 Scale gas to Kyosho mini Zs . I , regretfully now , started to try flying with Helicopters , Talk about a costly mistake . hahah Also . any type of simulator is good . The Real Fight one we all use is spectacular and , while not cheap , every pilot agrees is worth ten times the price in value . Lastly , no one likes to shatter someone's dreams . And none of this was meant to do that . We want to see you fly and have fun . We just try to pass on the hard lessons learned and tell about money wasted so it better the hobby as a whole .

I’m here in Hot Springs. I’m 50+ and just got my first plane. I got the BlueJay from FairRC. It is a 1200 mm Ranger by FMS that been repainted. I’ve flown it 3 times and landed it zero. When you get ready for the foam repair I have experience 😂🤣. Needless to say I recommend a trainer plane like the ranger 1200.

Check in your area about rc club's. Many have trainers that you can fly. Many guy's have transmitters that you can get very cheap or on loan to learn. Get comfortable with flying before you fly that jet. You will have a 260 dollar pile of foam in less than a minute.

@clean1566
@clean1566 7 ай бұрын
Well, you got a good deal on the jet, now you got to pay for a radio/reciever combo. As a beginner, for ease of use, I hate to recommend Spectrum radios, because they are expensive! I bought a Radiomaster T16x for half the price of a Spectrum radio, and it's a lot more capable radio, but....Spektrums are well built, easy to use with Spectrum AR636B, or any receiver they sell. Their DX7 is what I would get for the Jet. You could fly it with a DX6, but if I was going to spend that much on a radio($350)I would get the 7 channel, in case you wanted to install stuff on your jet. I really think you would benefit from one of a number of beginner rtf planes available. I transitioned from drones, thinking airplanes would be easy, since I flew one when I was a kid. Wrong! there is a learning curve. I started with a Sportcub S-2 from HH. The thing is, Like my crawler(I watched your videos, cause I have an RGT) you can stop anytime, to plan your next move. Airplanes don't stop! Even drones will hover, but when I got on the sticks of an airplane, I was wishing for no trees, poles, wires etc, because it was non-stop. This was with a little prop plane. I scored an F16 that sat on the shelf for 2 years, building up my courage. I took it up 2 months ago, and HOLY Sh.t, was that FAST! No way I would've come out with a flyable airplane if I had flown it as my first. But hey, people have different learning curves, so who knows? you might be a natural. Good luck, and make sure you film your maiden:-)@@arkansasrcnewbie

@@arkansasrcnewbie just know there are new rules and regulations from the FAA where you can fly most clubs are designated areas where you don't need remote I'd that size model 70mm is not considered a park flyer and you must register with the FAA and pute your FAA number on the aircraft that cost 5 plus you must take a test on line for what the FAA calls trust that is required AMA gives you guide lines and insurance if your aircraft goes roge do your research there is a lot you need to know before you fly AMA is worth the money it opens the doors to flying sites and flyins

You should get a trainer plane before you fly that. While not terribly difficult it is not easy to fly when you don't have any experience. Basically you will crash this thing and be sad if you don't practice on something easier first. Also it's a good idea to power the plane on and bind it to a transmitter before attaching the control arms as sometimes mechanical adjustments need to be made before you trim it out.

Most clubs have high wing trainers that you can buddy box with an experienced pilot to teach you the ropes. I saw someone else mentioned a flight simulator like Real Flight can be a huge help, plus you have 3 months of winter to practice from the comfort of your house. @@arkansasrcnewbie I do hope you took my comment in the spirit in which it was intended. Reading the comments suggests that many of us are offering similar advice. I understand you had a budget and got very exited over the little Viper, we’ve all been there, myself included. I’ve been in the hobby over 40 years now and I’ve made a few less than ideal choices in the past 😆. The hobby is seeing something of a decline and it would be a crying shame to lose another potential enthusiast due to becoming disheartened after crashing his pride and joy simply because it was beyond his capabilities, hence the suggestion to purchase a trainer. The E-Flite Apprentice would be a good choice as it’s available with a transmitter. However I note another commentator has suggested the FMS Ranger, again a very suitable candidate. That would however still require you to purchase a suitable radio and that’s a whole other conversation. As has been mentioned elsewhere, joining a club is a great idea. You’ll get lots of help and one to one guidance and also you’ll get to see what radios other members are using. If you follow that path it’ll making training much easier as they can then buddy you up and get you in the air as painlessly as possible. Good luck buddy, I’ll subscribe and keep watching. 👍🏻
