I Bought A REAL TATTOO GUN... I Don't Think This Is A Great Idea!

So today I learnt that you can buy a real tattoo gun online which I was very shocked about! However I thought it would be quite a fun activity to learn how to tattoo... obviously on fake skin and not on my own body! And this little tattoo kit (although it was a tad janky and had no instructions) was quite fun to work with. I've always wondered what a tattoo gun looks like up close, and honestly it's just like using a little vibrating pen with a couple of needles on the end of it. I think if you've always wanted to have a practice or to see what tattoo guns are like, I would highly recommend getting one and playing around on some fake skin, just don't tattoo yourself!! But let me know what your thoughts were on this tattoo gun kit, and whether you're tempted to get a brand new tattoo now too!

Okay, I just watched this twice … and I really want to make sure I actually understand what you were saying. Basically, the general theme seems to be that I probably shouldn’t buy a tattoo kit online and then test it out on myself 🤔 Is that pretty much the gist of what you were getting at? 🧐 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Your tree is fantastic - it would make an adorable tattoo! 🌳 Hope your weekend goes great!!

Ant, don't worry about sounding like a mum fussing, because it really could cost someone a limb, or worse to use a tattoo gun without some training. It's easy to forget the risks of things like that. Your warning was nice and clear. I respect you for that. Your tree was adorable by the way, it was really good for a first attempt. I think you should buy some more fake skin and have a play, coz it looked like fun. I love watching you get excited about a new idea or craft, it's great seeing that huge smile you get when you succeed at something new. God bless you hun, have a good weekend!

I think tattooists practice, or used to practice, on pig skin as it's the closest to ours. I could be wrong, but I'm sure I've read/heard that somewhere!

I hate when manufacturers don’t include instructions for a specific step of the process because they think it’s intuitive enough everyone will get it lol. I was struggling a few months ago trying to empty my vacuum cleaner. The process was indeed simple but it took me forever to figure it out! Also really appreciate the disclaimer at the beginning, real tattoos shouldn’t be DIY projects lol (unless of course you’re trained).

Even some tattoo artists don't understand what tattooing is. I remember a friend getting a tattoo and the tatto artists didn't mix enougj of a certain color and the different parts of the tattoo didn't match. The tattoo artist didn't even cover the tattoo. Usually they cover it because, like you said, it's a bunch of tiny wounds that need to heal. There are so many "professionals", whether tattoo artists, hair stylists, make up artists, etc that SHOULD NOT have a license lol.

Yes if you know a place ask if you can observe for a day.... or ask to be trained ... get that tree tattooed on you I love it! I'd buy a few dolls just to tattoo them

You should use an orange next time. I believe I saw that somewhere, years ago, that tattoo artists practice on oranges. Your tree is lovely. And I would have the same problem you did - buy the kit, fool with it for a bit and end up wanting another tattoo. Hope to see you try it again sometime ☺️. Maybe use a stencil like tattoo artists do 😉

Oh for sure! I think a great tip is to draw a similar thing on a part of your body, live with it for a few days and see if you like it first 😊😊

Best tattoos I’ve ever seen was a guy in a max secure prison and he did a side rear window with an image in it and it looked like a photograph. I was gobsmacked it was so beautiful. An acquaintance of mine,J Vargo was the artist on Dark Realms magazine. I’ve his artwork on my back. Pretty big but more to add to it. Want one of the skeleton arms over my shoulder grabbing my collar bone. Think I’ll get that outlined with him holding a scythe along the other side of back for my 73rd birthday in a couple weeks. Daughter has her entire back done and a full sleeve. Both got matching tattoos when youngest visited from Canada. So we are all into ink.

So what you're saying is buy a kit, tattoo yourself and use all the money you saving from not going to a tattoo professional, use that to buy cheap wine and crafts supplies? 🤔 That's smart 🤪🤣🤣🤣 lol Im terrified of needles . No tattoos of any kind for me

You shouldn't regret your tattoo.... Even if it's awful ... Try thinking about it as a prop for a good story to tell, or just a reminder of that part of your life. Tattoos are like little memory books. Try to think of it positively instead.

Lol I have a terrible tattoo also on my shoulder blade that someone wanted to cut her when I was looking to get a back piece done and I told them absolutely not, I know it looks like sh°t but you have to include it in the design somehow bc it reminds me of so much lol I think they thougjt I was crazy, but they drew it into the design anyway. I don't care how bad it is, it's the symbolism for me I guess .. of course that was luckily my only bad tattoo so far... But I'd get a stick and poke of ants tree for the story lol I'm glad you didn't get rid of your Tigger ♥️♥️
