@@its_aled8950 bro, the advice to give is always garage it (so paint stays fresh, and doesn't peel eventually, which it will if you park it outside perpetually). 2), ideally, you don't use it as a daily. Instead buy an old Camry or something for daily driving. And 3) just do the regular and proper car maintenance. Now I now for most people, especially young people, having 2 cars is not possible. But it's legit the best way to extend the life of a car (you can add like 10-30 years of extended life to it by doing this), and is important for sport cars. You never see people daily driving a Skyline, or a EVO, etc etc. If your car was an STI I would 100% advise this (due to the future collector value of the cars). But a WRX less so. Anyhow, I have 2 cars, with my daily being a Camry (and will prob buy a few more cars in the future lol). If you MUST daily it tho, then just be more strict on maintenance. More regular oil changes. And regularly check oil and other fluids yourself. And take it to a shop that knows the brand (a specialist shop - where you will pay more). Don't just take it to the generic mechanic shop that does all brands, they will 100% miss preventable problems. Once problems start compounding, that is when cars become a major headache. Also even when dailying, always garage it when not using it. And wash regularly. Do all that and you can still daily it no problem. It's actually 100% do-able and if done properly you won't have problems. Just know about Subaru's also, i.e. never ever rev hard on a cold engine, only rev remotely hard when it is fully to temp, always check the oil etc. Watch Mr Subaru also and learn about even doing some basic work or monitoring of parts yourself. Learn about common problems for your model that you should watch for (so you can catch them early), and so forth. Do all this it can last a very long time as a daily. Most young people don't do any of this, they skip services, they delay part replacements due to lack of funds, they don't garage the car at all, they drive like maniacs everywhere on cold engines, then they wonder why their USED 20+ year old car looks nothing like it did when they bought it only 5 years ago, with peeling paint, leaking oil, and sounding like a tractor lol. I basically did that with my 2nd hand 2004 Liberty (Legacy) when I was young. Don't do the same.

Well I'm 30 but I didn't know anything about cars and got obsessed with rotary engines and bought a barely running 2004 Mazda RX8 and drove the hell out of it. Learned how to work on cars and learned how to drive a manual transmission. I'm currently pulling out the motor and I'm rebuilding it myself. Best decision I've ever made, I love every second of driving that car. Boxer engines are my second favorite engine design after rotaries, and they both have a somewhat undeserved reputation as "unreliable" engines, so I feel kinship with Subarus when I see them lol. Plus that rally legacy will always be a part of the WRX.

As a guy that's been there done that in terms of both WRX's and general life, fix it, maintain it, maybe toss an exhaust if you truly feel the need, then leave. it. alone. Just drive and enjoy. It's a good looking car, seems to be in fair shape. Get it running well and leave it alone until you find your next toy that you intend to keep even longer (you will, I promise). Dropping crazy mod money on it at this stage of your life is a waste and you'll never get the money back. Trying to resell mods when you return it to stock later nets you pennies on the dollar, just not worth the headache. An older subie motor does not need more stress in it's life and neither do you. Just my two cents. Take it as you will.

Only has 75,000kms and I’ve done a bunch of preventive fixes ie. heater bypass, changing the entire timing belt kit, water pump, replacing the thermostat, flushing and refilling all the fluids and the list goes on 😂. If you take care of it and keep it stock it will treat you well. Love Subaru and the Impreza thank you for keeping them going

Did the same thing when I was 19. Got a blob/gator eye WRX and immediately burnt out the clutch, lol. I learned a ton from each thing that broke or mod I did. It was a great experience. Now I'm in my 30s, and I've had a long list of different race cars, and this was the one that started it all... Good luck to everyone going through this!

28, got my Blobeye WRX 8 months ago. Though parts are worn and some things are going out on it, the 2.0T has been nothing but reliable for me so far in 10k miles. She has 188k now, and I swapped the front clip with a JDM Bugeye STi one with an STi wing to complete its idiocy. I regret nothing about this car. After driving plenty of fast cars in a straight line(particularly Dodges and pickup trucks), this car has been my favorite. Still stock internals(minus a muffler delete), plan to keep it that way. It's just a joy to hear and drive on a twisty backroad. My only regret is not buying one of these sooner after being blinded by muscle car/V8 bias...

Good to hear you’re enjoying it. The power that it puts out is plenty for it. Especially considering there are no good roads for exploiting anything much more powerful around here

I bought a twin turbo legacy at 17 blew it up now it has a full 2003 sti drivetrain swap with a fully built engine and 6 speed. They can be problematic cars but it always feels homely driving one I love the way they drive so much.

Got my 03 at 19. It was already dyno tuned on VF48 1050cc 255 walbro 93. My most reliable vehicle ever owned. Only normal issues here and there due to aging. I love my Bugeye and wont regret keeping it as a garage queen one day.

I bought a 07 sti about half a year ago when I was 18 and lemme tell you it has sooo much rust it’s not even funny. I’m cutting out all the rocket panels, my fenders and parts of my strut tower. I’m planning on becoming a heavy duty mechanic so that’s the only reason I’m still willing to fix it. But I would not recommend for just the average person to pick up a old Subaru, you gotta be willing to put in the work💪💪 But congrats on your new subie welcome to the gang🫡

I have a subatu legacy of '04, it has been beaten up, it crushed once (now it wears some outback plastics) and it got watered down gas another time (had to change the becks) and on top of everything my family had to leave for 10 years untoutched because of economic issues. I picked it up, freshened it up a bit and it works perfectly. It shallows gasoline like its smarties in elementary school garden, but it gets me from point A to point B reliably. I am not huge in car racing or overall running with my car, i do abuse the 4x4 capabilities but that's it. Either way hope you enjoy yours, regardless if you regret it or not you still can have some good memories with it.

Lol I did the same thing 2 years ago, I’m 21 now and bought my 2005 WRX during my sophomore year at college-don’t regret it one bit (although I should’ve gotten a manual). Since then I’ve gotten gold BBS rims, an aftermarket radio, exhaust, an air oil separator, boost/oil pressure gauge, and it’s enough for me. Assuming the previous owner took somewhat good care of the car, I think if you keep it safe and stick to reliability mods it shouldn’t give you any major issues, all I’ve had to replace is basic 20 y/o car stuff (AC condenser, radiator, headlight bulbs). Cheers m8, enjoy the car 🎉

Last year I traded in my 2018 Ford Escape for a 2019 WRX - since then I've had to replace the clutch and do a complete rebuild of the engine due to a cracked rod - but I STILL don't regret doing it. Nothing beats zooming through the back roads at 80mph in the middle of the night. Subie family for life my man.

Congrats on the Pos!! I bought a 2021 WRX as a FIRST car at 16 years old. I still have it and I love it, got an opportunity (worst opportunity ever) to buy a 2009 wrx and I did for 1500 with a blown engine, rebuilt the car and now I am over it they are a headache to work on at least the older ones. Other then that if you don't beat the heck out of it they are pretty reliable cars!

Lols, my first car was a Mitsubishi Sigma manual. I loved it dearly, did the exhaust and wheels and drove it til I blew the engine trying to tune it myself. Fast forward im now 41 and have a 2010 impreza RS as I learnt to stay away from the turbos if I want to keep my license!! Love ya work bro, but yeah-subbies are expensive to own even when they work well.

Love the car man! If I were in your position, I would switch to X-cess gen2 5w-40 instead of 5w-30 just because it's a thicker oil. I would also not get into boost much if you aren't tuned while catless. Any modification that you do that increase how much air goes into the motor or comes out, you should get a tune for it except for a catback exhaust. Other than that dude I hope you have a fun time with your new car!

Cool video mate! Had the wagon version of this a couple of years back. Sounded lovely and was a nice drive but unfortunately developed rod knock after a spirited B road mission while the oil level was full 😥 Had to get rid as the car needed too many other things besides that so replaced with an EP3 Civic Type R. Hope you have better luck than I did fella!

Love these, was always my dream car growing up playing Colin McRae and Vrally, I recently got my 2nd ever car as well, Impreza was out of the question because of the insurance/tax cost and the fact they'd probably be thrashed by previous owners. Ended up getting a Honda CRZ, love driving it and just staring at it in the car park, but part of me does wish I'd gone for a 2 seater with RWD like the MX5 or MR2 :( felt like that'd be too awkward if I ever need to move stuff or give anyone a lift.
@its_aled895024 күн бұрын
The Honda crz is a very nice car, but if you wanted to go with a 2 door my only advice would be, send it. Fuck it we ball!

Currently in the same situation as you, however a year later: I am now 20 and last year i bought a 2002 bmw e46. I always wanted one but in retrospect the actual car that i got was one hell of an impulse purchase. There are pretty similar issues to yours, meaning no cats, some rust here and there including a jackpoint, suspension bushings are a fucking joke, and the throw-out bearing is louder than my ex. Currently going through the phase of getting money to fix *stuff*. I am sure you've done it already but id highly recommend listing down all the things that need to be fixed, as well as get some workshop owner friends in town to make the job easier. Good luck my man congrats on the car
@its_aled895019 күн бұрын
I do have a excel spreadsheet with all my stuff that I need to get done for MOT and others. Also the E46 in my opinion is one of the best looking cars ever, good luck with it!

Currently 20, Bought a 05 forester XT turbo (at 18), has the 2.5L EJ25 and as long as you stay on top of everything you will be 100% fine. Make sure to change the oil every 5000kms and don't abuse it. 90% of people that have issues with the cars are young kids that think they can rally and crash or rev them to the moon. Do your maintenance and it will treat you well. I currently just past 200000kms and although there is now a permanent check engine light it still runs as smooth as when I still got it I even have a manual swap planned for it in the coming weeks! On a side note the catalytic converter isn't on the exhaust on the underside of the car its on the downpipe just after the turbo. The Subaru rust also plagues just about any of them on the market I would say yours is pretty clean just make sure to wash in your fenders!

It's a good video man, you really nailed the sound for one thing which is hard to do. You should keep at it bro. Just keep in mind, that while I appreciate the F bombs, KZfaq does not... You could potentially monetize your channel in the future so just keep that in mind I guess. I'd definitely like to see more of what you do with the WRX.
@its_aled8950Ай бұрын
I appreciate the advice about monetisation but for now I don’t really expect my channel to ever get big enough to make money. I also do kinda prefer to be a bit more raw and unfiltered. Thanks for the support!
