Introducing my new race bike for 2023, a ten-year-old Triumph! 😂
Jokes aside, this should be a significant improvement over the mostly stock 2012 Daytona 675R I've raced up until this point. Check out the video to learn more about the bike, why I bought it, and the modifications I made right off the bat! 🙂
Thank you for watching, and if you enjoyed this video, I would sincerely appreciate it if you hit the like button and subscribed for more motorcycle content. Drop a comment below if you've been to or thought about going to the track, and I'll hope to catch you in the next one! ✌️

Woohoo! Purely from a self serving standpoint, I'm so glad you got this bike! Now I have legit ideas to pursue for my 2016 675r 😂 Out of everything, 3 mods I did recently totally changed my life: 1. UKRS linear linkage + height adjustable down links. Oh man. Even with the stock 100nm spring the rear end is just bitter now, where earlier, despite a LOT of setup attempts, I just couldn't get it to feel right and equally, I didn't want to lose out on the stability that the 100nm spring offers. Now I have the best of both worlds. Just no pillion, ever 😂 2. Manual CCT: I'm sure you know this, but it helps solve the immediate problem of a rattly cam chain when you start the bike after a week, and long term, if you keep track of it, it's far more solid than the stock hydraulic POS. 3. Racetorx shift Shaft support: I had this on my 765rs as well, and the difference it makes to the shift feel is insane. I have the light tech rearsets (not the most adjustable....) which feel super solid, but the racetorx makes a big difference and kills any shift Shaft flex. I've yet to change the MC. Stock MC sucks. Still in 2 minds whether to go the accosato route or the brembo route. I ride the bike on the street, so the ABS and stock lines will stay, and I'm never going racing, so it'll be good enough for me once I find the time to hit the track with this baby. (I hope...) Oh and I have the akra full system with the pc5 AND the wideband auto tune, with the factory triumph full system map serving as the baseline. Cannot recommend the auto tune enough. We don't have dynos out here, so over many many months, I've been able to fine tune my fuelling and it is just butter. The guy I bought it from had already thrown a lot of parts at the bike, but the ones I listed above I did myself and incrementally, at each step, they elevated the bike a whole lot. Really looking forward to what else you get done and how you live with it :)

Glad you like it Anupam 😂 And thank you for the recommendations! I will be skipping linkage as I want the bike to remain eligible for the Stock 600 classes I race, and linkage changes are not allowed in those. I did replace the OEM CCT with an APE manual on my 2012, and was planning to do that on this bike as well. It did rattle on about 1/3 starts 🙄 And I forgot to mention but I did already put on a shift shaft support! Have one on my 2012 as well, and both have worked well as far as I can tell. I think the stock MC on this bike is ok assuming it is in good shape and you're not running A group pace. I never used the stocker on this bike, but I believe it as the same as my 2012 and it was working fine until I got to the point where I was a front runner in the amateur races. First step is to get it back in working order following the crash, let's hope nothing is bent or cracked beyond the front wheel 😅😭

Super awesome and congrats on the new bike!! I am dying to get a track bike so I can hopefully look to get into club racing possibly in the next years. As someone that’s 6’5 and 240lbs, it’s actually really cool to see your videos absolutely killing it after reading and hearing so much about jockey-sized riders’ advantages 😅

The one advantage our size gives us is lots of grip on corner exit! Not great for tire life, but I've been able to get on the gas harder and earlier than some of the other guys I race with. But, in my experience so far, skill is the most important component in being competitive. 🙂

Those grippy rear set footpegs are going to rip your boot soles to shreds. Ask me how I know.
@hiimchad
@hiimchad 4 ай бұрын
Oh this isn't my first set of Attack rearsets, I've chewed up many boots on these type of pegs. The good news is I've tended to ruin my boots crashing before I've gone completely through the sole, so the sharpness of the pegs hasn't been much of a concern for me 😅🥲

Looks great! You still planning on keeping the 2012 or are you gonna part with it?
@hiimchad
@hiimchad Жыл бұрын
Thanks Brian! I’ll be keeping the 2012. I accomplished too much on that bike for me to be able to put a price on it, and I’m confident no one would hit me with a number that would make sense to me given it’s age, mileage and history. I plan to take it to the track 1-2 times per year going forward to reminisce, and keep is as a kind of trophy bike, given its race wins and championship win. 🙂

Thanks Zain! These are awesome bikes and definitely under appreciated by many. The fairings were Armour Bodies by Woodcraft/CFM. I know a CFM dealer if you're looking for some!

Awesome, funny how much of what made it an R was still upgraded by you. Kind of makes the R look like a version for street bragging over track performance. Will they still let you film as an expert? I love the race footage.
@hiimchad
@hiimchad Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I actually didn't change much of what made it an R, just the front master cylinder. The suspension, brake calipers, and quickshifter are all still OEM, and all of that hardware performs great! I only ever changed the fork springs in my 2012 675R. The fork bodies/internals, shock, and calipers were all the standard R stuff. It's just the front master that is the weak point in my experience. 🙂

Any thoughts on putting a tune lke BT-moto on it to remove the restrictions? I was thinking of putting one on my 15. They are on sale right now. Cheers

@himchad - I have a 2014 675R with abs - I just installed a rcs19 - would it be better to run the independent brake lines like how you have configured or leave the merged setup from the factory? Pros / cons? Thanks again 👍

Completely separate lines help aid in more even pressure and pad wear per caliper as well as making it easier to clean given each caliper isn’t bound together.
@hiimchad
@hiimchad Жыл бұрын
Dan got the key benefits! Another one for me personally is feeling. I loved the way my brakes felt and the feedback I got with the OEM dual line setup on 2012 Daytona 675R, so I wanted to make sure I could replicate that as accurately as possible on this bike.

I'm curious - do you drill your own bolts for the Daytona?
@hiimchad
@hiimchad Жыл бұрын
A friend and I drilled out all the bolts on my 2012, but this bike had most of them drilled out already. We only needed to drill out the fork pinch bolts, and then I took the drilled hose clamp off my 2012's oil filter and put it on this bike. 🙂

I have a 2007 Daytona675, I am getting more into trackdays with an end goal of racing. Should I sell my 2007 for a 2013 or newer, should I keep it and use it for the track, or get an R6? Thanks for any help
