Thanks for watching! I think they're quite nice. The modularity is kind of a gimmick to me, but the LUA and SysEx integration are really well-thought out.

I just bought the Launch Control to help with the OPx4. Being it doesn't have a 4x4 layout of knobs I split the Matrix across 2 banks with the envelopes across 3 banks of faders. I'm intrigued by what you'd make of the 4x4 knobs assigned to the OPx4's matrix.

Respect Floyd, always, but the ‘clicky-bait’ title leads one to believe this is a Temu or Wish purchase and kinda discounts the hard work by the crew from Intech Studio over the last ~6ish years to develop an open source universal modular midi controller for the masses. No small feat. Sure, there are plenty of midi controllers on the market out there, some meet the needs, (most do not), or are not expandable to meet future needs. Personally I feel they’ve met the criteria of compromise when developing such a product. It’s not static. You can have as little, or as much, as you need, now and future then. Imho, they’ve done a bang up job. I look forward to their future developments 👍

Thanks for your feedback! I think my title here should be ok. It's the truth, I found out about these in a Facebook ad and I bought them with my own money, and then I made a lengthy, detailed video about them explaining MIDI and SYSEX facts in the process (which were hours of work). So basically, a free ad for InTech, and I know this made them some sales they otherwise wouldn't have gotten. This video is #2 in my "hit list", so everyone won - the viewers because the seem to appreciate the info, InTech because they made some sales and me because I got $25.20 of AdSense money (plus some great controllers) ;-)

Interesting concept, using a programmable MIDI controller to enhance synthesizer functionality, by adding new modulations, step sequencing, etc. Is there also a way to store programmed presets on the units, when not connected to a computer?
@mr_floydst

That's optional if you have a USB MIDI hub (or a smartphone and a MIDI interface) around. I bought two controllers and used my $30 USB to MIDI host in this video, without the need to use a computer / smartphone.

Hi Floyd (I know it's not your first name but for the sake of privacy), The one with the rotary encoders is, physically, quite close to the DJ Tech Tools Midi Fighter Twister (quite expensive for my wallet), haven't tested neither, I don't know how they could come close together. Have you got any clue on how both compare? I just want a Midi controller, with rotary encoders (a lot), that could direct remote message a software synth or a hardware one with paremeters not directly linked one to one potentiometer but only through menu diving like the Waldorf Blofeld you know. Building one of those controllers myself, I know there's some channels explaining that, but, maybe one day you'll have the time, patience to explain the DIY Midi Controller of the Galaxy ;) I know, it's about encoders, soldering, arduino language, maybe not so difficult, though... Thank you for the already done research, work.

Hi, thanks for watching! I never owned a twister. It seems those are built more robustly, but lack the LUA macro feature. They're also twice the price.

Also, I just want to make music only through Linux. My future system will be running Linux only. So many good progams to treat audio, at a very reasonable cost, if you want to pay some money, otherwise free, no cost. A good channel for this is Unfa's (a bit of advertisement for another channel Floyd, thank you).
@mr_floydst

Thanks! I know Unfa's channel and so does everyone who watches my videos, it seems :) (according to my KZfaq stats) Linux is a great system for Music production, but so are Windows and MacOS. It's a matter of personal taste really. It's great to have Reaper on RasPi natively!

Thanks for the great video. Would you consider this to be a worthy replacement for a MIDI Fighter Twister (by DJ Techtools)?
@mr_floydst
@mr_floydst 6 ай бұрын
I never owned one, so take my words with a pinch of salt. The Twister looks more sturdy and has more "informative" LEDs around its encoders. So if you're looking for a device for high-action, dark room scenarios ;-) this might be better. The Grid controllers score with their LUA language support and lower price, while the built quality might be not as sturdy (can't really judge). They're also _much_ cheaper.
@gkillmaster
@gkillmaster 6 ай бұрын
@@mr_floydst Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on it. Really hard to decide. One factor it that the EN16 is almost the same cost once you figure in shipping. And another aspect it seems is that the Grid controllers are much newer devices. Not sure if that actually would make any difference.
@mr_floydst
@mr_floydst 6 ай бұрын
Oh I forgot about shipping fees. They were neglegible where I live... I 'm quite happy with my purchase. The snapping feature is a bit gimmicky, but apart from that, the deep customisation is impressive (plus you get high precision data as well if you choose to set it up that way)

@mr_floydst
@mr_floydst 7 ай бұрын
The overall built quality is not what the product photos might want to make you believe, everything is made from plastic. That being said, all knobs and faders are precise and tight. The fader caps are not, though, you can easily move them from left to right for 2 or 3 mm. That doesn't affect the precision of the input, though.
