If you ever get a bunch of baby stuff that you don't want to deal with selling at the flea market, it can be worth it to bring it to a secondhand store that specializes in baby/kid stuff, like Once Upon a Child, if you have one nearby. They'll go through everything and make an offer on anything they want, then you can just donate whatever is left over!

A lot of those baby items you could sell at the flea market! Fossil can be worth a little bit of money depending on what model. Try putting the belts in the dryer for just a few mins to heat them up then lay them out flat… it should fix some if not all the belts.

I use to buy storage units with my parents, we would put it all on a trailer and set out trash cans for the trash, bins for the yard sale items, laundry baskets for the clothes (we washed and donated) and boxes for each of us to keep a few items. We did donate organs, bibles, beds, couches, stuff like that for those in need. We always made sure it was all clean! Good luck with all of this!

Baby items can be quite expensive and the things you have shown look to be in excellent condition and pristine. I don’t know anyone who would pay to keep and store items infested with bed bugs 🐜 or anything else. Breast pumps can be cleaned up and sanitized for someone else to use. I would sell entire baby lot for two hundred dollars,,, the breastfeeding pillow alone you showed costs over fifty dollars.

Hi, Melissa. Most storage unit buyers have a truck or a U-Haul trailer in which to put their "finds". Looks like you got your investment back, with the Graco bassinett, and 100% plus profit with all the small things you found. You could get at least $3 a pack for feminine products and the watch bands would sell well for $5 each. Watch batteries are about $3 each, then you could sell those two watches for $10 a piece. If the DVD player works you could get $5 for it. Even the generic brands of those are selling for around $30 at Wal-mart. (The two ends of the broken necklace would make beautiful earrings. They just need to be removed from the chain pieces and hung on earwires. I make jewelry and refurbish/repurpose old necklaces and stuff. Just one of my many "crafty" talents.) Not a bad haul.

Just a suggestion for future videos like this. Place the camera down so it faces into the box so we can view the items whether trash or not. We want to see what is in the unit. You do not need to hold up each item that way. My best storage unit buy was a complete Dollar Store that had closed down. It even had the cash registers with starting day cash in each one. I was able to sell the items back to a local thrift store to me for 25 cents each. My worst unit had bags of crystal meth in it and after throwing that away (the police told me to just throw it away) there was not much left. I just broke even on it. So it is a gamble just like the mystery boxes you buy.

My brother has a best friend who's family has owned a large storage unit facility for years. Unfortunately, once the time has lapsed and the units become abandoned they actually thoroughly go through each unit before auctioning them off. They then repack the units and place locks on them. The day of the auctions they cut the locks off (even though they have the keys) to make it seem legit. I personally think what they do is disgusting, but sadly it seems to be a very common practice in the storage unit business.

Oh wow! Thanks for the info
@kristiphillips7783
@kristiphillips7783 2 жыл бұрын
That is not true. Most large places don't have the time or energy to do all that. They make their money off the auctions and just want the stuff out ASAP so they can get the unit rented again. I also know a few families in the business. Even storage unit owners have laws they need to follow and sign off on before construction even begins or they are the manager of. BIG problems if they don't. Protective rights in place on both ends. If a business is doing that and get caught...not good!! Not trying to start anything as I am 100% sure that DOES happen but from what I have learned over the years of knowing these people...not a smart idea as the on consequences are pretty steep!
@SlMONSAYS
@SlMONSAYS 2 жыл бұрын
@@kristiphillips7783 I think it'd be fair to say that many may not, but just as fair to say that many certainly do. Not at all fair to claim it to be untrue. Once the original owners time is up and it can legally be sold, that's where the regulations end and the facility is free to do as they wish with the contents. There's always a gap between the units being seized and the auction date which has its own set of regulations...this period is when anything the owners (or the people who work with the owners) do the picking of the most valuable items. Think about it...its an easy way to cash in twice on each unit and it happens all day, everyday.

Wash the clothing and add about a cup of Pine-Sol. It will kill the smell.

I watched Storage Wars forever and even though I had a couple of favorites, you're the best. It was great! I hope you get your money back. But the donations alone should make you feel good.

Melissa your one brave reckless girl…..I’ve just moved house recently and it was possibly the most stressful thing I’ve ever done, your storage adventure is bringing back memories of that move…….I reckon this is your first and last storage unit…….life’s too short………

I was wondering what Rob thought about buying a storage unit. I know that it was a ton of work for you, but I would love to see you get one again.

Love this blog. I'm surprised they didn't just want you to empty the locker and go through it elsewhere rather than do it onsite
