Because when I was younger people would often tell us ohhh you don't need a house now...you wait until you have a family... you know that conditioning of the mind mentality. Had I known then everything I know now... I probably would have had about five houses renting them out

U guys r lucky in America well some states that I see anyway..at 22 I just finished university and had a daughter bless you I always thought u can buy a house when u settled in late 20s. Just turnt 30 and about to buy my own house too...In the UK we need 10% and in London our house prices r no joke. I decided to move out of London and now the UK introduced 5%for first time buyers so I've got that cash and more. I'm gonna buy me and my kids a home now and I came across this video. Bless you!! I dont even know you never watched a video but well done to you... buy another one rent it out travel girl and come back amazing!!!

If you don’t mind me around. About how much in savings did you have to have. Not an estimate amount if you don’t feel comfortable but a ball park would be helpful

@@linwilliams2013 how much you need will depend on your income, debt, and cost of the house you’re buying. With that being said we actually had better days with our savings than when we decided to buy (just had a baby a 8 months prior and took some time off) we had about $12,000 probably. We only put down $3K on the house for earnest money to close. Don’t believe the “you need 20% for the down payment” that’s not true. Your mortgage officer will tell you if they want you to have a certain amount down but mostly that 20% thing is coming from people who want to be smart but it’s not a requirement. We were spending way too much renting and buying saved us a ton that would of took forever to get to 20% paying and we now we can throw more money into the mortgage as well to pay off sooner.

The banks don't care where you work as long as its legal, you've had your job at least 2 years, your credit score is decent and if you do have credit card debt your debt to income ratio is not high!

For my first place I will be buying a home. A lot of the apartments are only $100 less a month than a mortgage. Utilities may not be included but it’s so worth it for a house.

Naturally Ray 😩😭 I was at a 500 credit score, but I’ve plateaued at 615. That took one year. I’m stuck right now. I just started paying things on time, or paying things off at the end of the month. I don’t know what else to do. I keep getting denied when I try and get credit cards 💳

I live with my parents right now as I finish up with college, but I am trying to decide whether I want to rent or buy when I move out. Prior to moving back home, I lived on my own in an apartment for over 3 years and when I added up what I paid in those 3 years; it was over $17,000 living there. In my opinion it is such a waste, because I was helping someone else when I could have been helping myself. Now, my dilemma is where would I want to live more than 3 years if I do purchase a home. I love your video!

ChelseaVictoria I should have clarified : I paid 1% to the builder just to put it under contract and “hold it “ but total put 3.5% down since I’m a first time buyer (the more you can put down the better though to have lower monthly payments )! I’m expecting my next house will prob end up having to be in the 20% down range

Everything 300k-600k is in the hood and /or a mix between ok area but mixed with the hood if you drive past far enough. Or it's a fixer upper that will end up costing you an additional 15k to fix from inside out.

caramelized sugar 1.2 mil just as an example. A bit inflated but obviously not every home in NY is priced at 1.2 mil. Side not though some homes in areas considered Brooklyn hoods are being priced that high(gentrification). But in general NY is expensive it’s a regurgitated fact.

My husband and I just started the process of buying a new build. You were not lying about the different people and phone calls. I cant keep up. We are suppose to close in late August or early September 2020. I'm excited. The only regret I have is not doing this sooner when we were younger. Now 17 1/2 years in about to buy our first home.

The reason they asked for documentation for your deposits is to ensure that there isn’t a loan that needs to be repaid that isn’t showing on your credit, the same with any large withdrawals, to make sure there isn’t a debt out there that their not aware of, the diploma and transcripts were likely for employment history if you haven’t worked a full two years

This is so excellent! When I was 22, I had ZERO intentions on purchasing a home, or really owning anything worthwhile. I probably made every bad financial decision except for getting a payday loan. In fact, the only reason I didn’t get a payday loan was because I was in the military, and it had just become illegal for those lenders to do business with us! But for real, I am happy to see young folks making better financial decisions these days, and it is awesome that you are sharing the essential information. Oh yeah, I’ll be buying my first home no later than a year from now, at 34 years old.

I bought my first house so long ago when I was 21 just like you said I wasn't looking to buy a house cuz I didn't think that I could but I did. Honestly I only did it because my brother did, then I did my cousin followed! Blessings just kept flowing through our family from then on. Awesome experience! Keep up the good work!

Buying is a great choice for those young people that KNOW they'll be working and living at one home for years. Selling isn't always easy. Whereas an apartment will be much easier to move out of within a year max. Congrats on your new home!!!!

Everyone was says you need to save up but that leaves us questioning how much is enough? Do you feel having high credit score and the loan was sufficient to make this dream possible?

TatiSweetHeart89 i would say how much you need to save depends on how much house you want to by. If you find a house that is 200k, just imagine that you may need to save ~4% of that at the minimum (if it’s your first purchase and your loan requires less down + closing costs). So it depends and varies ! But I would say save up like 4% of listing prices of houses that you really are interested in , but also making sure to keep in mind what loan amount you get approved for

Congratulations the house is beautiful!!! I want to buy a house but literally have no idea how or where. I live in NY and everything is too damn expensive. I’m scared lol. I have a part time job that has allowed me to save something when buying a house do I have to put cash? I’m going to be rewatching this video over and over again and also save it lol

Appreciate this video. first congrats to you. I recently turned 29 and I learned a lot about finances late but still know a lot more than ppl around me my age. I recently paid off my credit card debt, raised my credit score and I'm saving money. I've gon back and forth about buying a house, although I really want to I keep psyching myself out.

My closing date for my first home which is a townhouse is Dec 28 I’m so excited and nervous at the same time. I felt the same way you did I just new this was going to be my house I was tired of renting!!!

You’re right about the part of saving your money vs. spending it in on renting an apartment. I’m was thinking about doing the same thing, moving into an apartment and then get a house later in the future. But I’m changing my mind and I’m gonna save up for a house instead.

Mortgage lenders only factor in your minimum payment, not the overall loan amount, when buying a home! If your overall loan amount is $75,000 but your minimum payment is $17.24 a month then the $17.24 is what’s used to calculate your debt to income ratio. Which makes it absolutely possible to buy a house with student loans coming out of college!
