It is quite straightforward from Australia to the UK. They were sent Australia Post and then once they get to the UK, it is taken over by Parcelforce. They assess them for custom fees due to the value of the items that the sender has written on the invoice that is attached to the package. The fees are made up of duty (that usually depends on the type of item it is - sometimes there isn’t any), UK VAT at 20% and then a handling fee. Parcel force then send a letter telling you how to pay - you pay online and then they release and deliver the parcel usually the next day ☺️
