We bought the cheapest Hilux Surf in Australia!
This car was abandoned in a paddock for over two years after it broke down.
We are going to be bringing this Rig back to it's former glory :)

Its a 1KZ-TE, great engine. Yeah they crack heads but thats not the end of the world. Pretty simple job. If they dont start then its normally the Spill valve in the rear of the injector pump or a popped diode in the ECU. Glowplugs and the timer ate the next things to check, but always remove the rail to check the plugs, you can have all 4 blown and a meter or test light will only show if power is getting to them. If it still has the factory ceramic glowplugs ditch them and fit twin coil steel ones. This way if they pop they wont send a chunk of ceramic down into the pre-com chamber of the head. Its not the intercooled version which is a bit of a bumma.but they still perform well. Can tweak the boost up a bit, open the fuel up a bit, get the injectors looked at, we fit a marine diesel filter to them thst accepts a range of diff micron filters. Best upgrade is going from the electronic injector pump to a mechanical pump, either a 2L-T, 3L or 5L pump. Or of you can find one the injector pump off a 4M40-T Mitsubishi Delica/Pajero. Will make all the power you need and they bolt right on (after all the rubbish cold start gear is removed).

It looks like the Japanese domestic market diesel crank snapper model. Don't wind the boost up when you get it running it will snap the crank.

One word i can use to describe this car: *tired* done all its kays the hard way. Engine will need rebuild along with cooling/heater. Not to mention a thourogh disenfect of the interior. Wont be a quick flip. Needs too much money for that.

@@goosegarage78 the donor doesn’t have a sunroof 🤣 but yes you are correct! From Hilux to prado95/early 120 to Hiaces! There’s heaps of parts out there

Thanks heaps legend! I'm tossing up whether to raptor coat it or try paint it properly myself. Hopefully painting it myself won't look awful. Since the video was posted, I had a closer look at the wiring and it is a NIGHTMARE. Random switches in the car disconnected and used for other purposes. Not a happy camper... hahaha

I do like any video on old Toyota Hiluxes because l own an old Toyota Hilux a 1997 single cab with an aluminum tray rear wheel drive with the 22R engine petrol of course and about three years ago l paid $1500 for it and the Hilux is still running and registered as it was when l bought it the test drive was from Newcastle to the outer south western suburb if Sydney made it with no drama and is still running with no dramas l have given it some love and it has done 433000 kilometers

@@peter_brash The Hilux came along at the right time my daughter organised the purchase a freind if hers owned it and how could l refuse l was a courier now retired and it us my retirement project hobby l picked a great vehicle as a hobby vehicle l had a list of work l was going to fix on it but l only have two major projects on the Hilux to take care of l have the parts to finish of one project also the Hilux has couple of optiinal extras air conditioning which does work cruise control which doesn't work and a radio cassette player which works l can't check out the cassette player but l have no cassettes but my son gave ne a radio cd player but fortunately l still have my CDs to fit it l need to remove the whole dash board get a couple of speakers a plug for the head unit and an ariel and since been retired l found out about how good the 22R engine is and its also manual and my Hilux in the condition it is in its wirth $5000 to $6000 and l have seen them sell quickly they are very desirable l did see a double cab ute sell for $500 it had done 980000 kilometers and it was a running ute and my Hilux has only done 433000 kilometers so it will go on for another 26 years easily after all l am 69 years old and my Hilux will out live me any way l will probably pass it onto our daughter but it us pretty well sorted

@@peter_brash Now l wasn't sure if they came in the Hiace but you have one in your Hiace so they did l owned a liteace but it had a 1.8 litre in it and l was working and when l owned it the Internet was slow l didn't have time to do any research
