The fan is a blower style, so having that vent on the side should provide significantly better intake flow to the fan.

Real talk though, even if it does help, I don’t think it’s worth anyone intentionally trying to buy faceplates with holes on the side. There have been so few overheating issues with the ps5, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with sticking to the oem setup. Especially these, because the build quality is terrible lol

@24lunaticasylum Shouldn't. But full disclosure, I don't own a ps5, and am only basing my assertion on the design of the fan as it is essentially the same mechanical layout as a blower fan on a graphics card which pulls air in from the bottom of the card and pushes it out the rear.

That's reasonable paranoia though. I heard enough stories about faulty 360 ventilation fan accessories that bricked the console. I don't trust accessories that are intended on being powered from the console's USB ports because of that.

According to the PS engineers the ps5 cools on vacuum, så the intakes on the side could actually remove some cooling flow from the SSD you can put in yourself, so if you upgrade your storage you need to block the sidevents on that side of the SSD so the flow of air comes over the cooling sink or else you shorten the lifetime and could end up damaging internal components :)

Be careful what information you give to Temu. They collect all kinds of personal and even private information about you, personal information, the keystrokes you enter, the IP address of the devices you are using, etc, etc. It won't cause any immediate damage to you..... But it is worth noting that Temu is more about collecting information about you than it is about selling cheap products. Whatever you do, please do not research the dark side of Temu..... You will most definitely regret it. But if you do, just know that you have been warned!

Those vents on the sides are helpful. DBrand uses them for the Dark Plates 2.0 and other have ran tests and it lowers the temperature by around 2-3°F

$70… Yes, but they’re a nicer set of plates than the Seto Kaiba OG plates. Just pointing out that it isn’t going to damage your system.

@@jrob0021yea but there pretty good quality the plastic is a nice quality and the fan cut outs have dust covers that are removable so easy to clean. My console runs cooler about 3 degrees cooler.

@@PepsiManX360 oh yeah I don't doubt that they're nice plates, I just don't think anyone should buy them for the sole purpose of reducing thermals by 3 degrees. But here's my thing - if the dbrand plates, which were probably designed with lower temps in mind, only lower the temp by 2-3 degrees, I can't imagine these cheapo plates from temu are improving thermals at all. If you compare the design side-by-side, it looks like the dbrand plates have more open ventilation than the temu plates. The vents on the temu plates also jut out a bit - not sure how that would affect airflow. And then you throw on RGB lights under those vents, which take up even more airflow space, and you're definitely not getting better thermals. So I'd wager that these temu plates plus rgb lights are probably making your ps5 3 degrees hotter. I say all of this, but I honestly don't think it's a big deal either way. I don't think +/-3 degrees is going to be the difference in your console overheating or not in the vast majority of cases. I think most people should just buy the plates they think look cool. My ps5 personally still just has the og plates

Companies have been doing it for years. Creating 3rd party accessories with more holes and fans trying to solve something that’s largely a non issue. I think the holes are interesting in this case since you can see the lights through them

I put the leds on mine a long time ago love them you just need to take your time on the install. Also their skins are great if you TAKE YOUR TIME lol (not an affiliate lol) they have goven me lots of free stuff though.

That faceplate, you have a tool that tests for over heating, why not test it to see if it over heats then everyone will know if that plate is OK to use or not

Nah them dust filters are good, my pc front has the same mesh and it catches dust and my pc isnt as dusty inside since using it. Definitely worth getting for ps5

Yeah I'm sure they are lol. Darkplates were the first to put side grills for fans I believe. A tad expensive but I've heard good things about them, they even have clear retro atomic colors.@@jrob0021

@@jrob0021I have the original dbrand darkplates before Sony sued them.they are actually surprisingly better than the official ps5 plates.they are a darker black better texture.they are a little thicker and way more sturdy then the Sony plates

I have a faceplate set for my ps5 with vents and has dust fillers on it for over a year and my ps5 works just fine if anything it runs more quietly because it has direct access to fresh air so the fans don’t have to work as hard my model of ps5 is the first edition with the big heatsink so can’t speak for the other models but like I said mines running just fine

Not to get into the science of aerodynamics too much but the vent would not interrupt airflow, depending on angle of design it could actually improve it. However I still think it’s not a good idea to make a habit of buying faceplates with holes or vents because they could be pointless, and adding the RGB and junk is what really interrupts the heating/cooling of the system.

I have the DBrand 2.0 dark plates and my console runs perfectly fine I think it runs better because before I got those plates the fan was a little noisy and after with the new plates it’s more silent. Plus DBrand offers dust covers so it keeps the fan from getting all dusty lots of other plates I noticed don’t.

Don't just throw out those lights! Make up a good reason to "return" them, and there is a high chance they will refund you and you can do whatever you want with it then. Also check as often as possible (once daily) for a price adjustment for each order you make! Every time the prices drop they will refund you!!! And if you care, play farmland and fish land daily. Ignore the other games, they are mostly scams. But those 2 games are legit, if you want to put in the work daily for nearly 3 months.

Dbrand fPS5 plates have the vents on the side also with filters. It has shown to actually improve airflow.

Yeah I’ve seen some other people say that as well. Although tbh, I don’t think these can be compared to dbrand. The ventilation holes are completely different and the ventilation portion juts out a little bit compared to dbrand. Given that the dbrand plates only improve cooling by a small amount, would these changes give the same results? I have no idea, but I’d guess if they do help cooling, it’s probably not as much as dbrand. Dbrand was probably designed with extra cooling in mind, I can guarantee you these were not. Either way I don’t think it’s worth spending a bunch of money for a few degrees of extra cooling. Just buy the plates if u think they look cool

The accessories are okay I guess. I wouldn't under any circumstances purchase the "cooling" fan. I'm a fan of the Black and White aesthetics of the PS5 so I wouldn't get that either. Hm, come to think of it, I probably wouldn't get any of this stuff in this video, except maybe the PS5 logo stickers.

08:00 why not put it in the USB port on the fan? 😂 And it should pull air out of the console not blow air in. The back vents is where the hot air is pushed out so why put something that blocks the flow?
