The Terävä Skrama 240 is a legend. Its basically a heavy duty compromise between a hatchet, bushcraft knife and machete. The Terävä Jääkäripuukko 140 is also a really great robust knife. I have seen both of these tested to destruction and they really are realiable. Got to admit I am also a great fan of the M95. Worth noting that whilst a lot of people dont like those rubberized handles, they are Finnish knives, and in Finland the temperature regularly drops down to -30c in some places. Their kit tends to be winterized. Good points on the ferro rods. These days I tend to profile my own so the thumb ramp is rounded but I also have a 90 degree area. I learned this the hard way with an Schrade old timer knife. The worst cut I ever got from a knife was from the precision sharp spine at the thumb ramp. It was like a blade on an industrial paper cutting press. Great stuff as always mate. I love Finnish knives. I think their history really comes through in their knife designs.

Just a note about the rubber handles. The tangs are actually very beefy for rat tails. In fact you can buy some of the Terävä range as just the metal part, so you can put your own scales on them. I like rubber scales but they wear out vastly faster than say G10 or hardwood, but with these knives at least you know you can put new tangs on them without much bother.

I bought both of mine years ago when they virtually impossible to get with the leather sheaths. They’re really good knives.

Someone mentioned J-P Peltonon. 1. I have one sitting next to the computer. It is the model adopted by the Finnish and Estonian armies. It resembles the first knife you displayed. Have two of the same model and rehoused one in a leather sheath I found in my pile of cast-off sheaths. They are like Mora knives on steroids. Like so many factory sheaths, a person will end up looking for something else. A plain sheath is ok because this is a last ditch personal survival knife that I don't carry.

They surface annealed the Jaakaripuukko knife to stop crack propagation to get a tough soldier's knife, so they had to cut into the spine to get to hard enough "inner" steel for fire steel striking. If you keep the spine edges up, then it will strike well enough, but it takes a little practice to find the angle.

Hey , bro I have the terava 140 and the scrama 240 and they have 90° on them. All you have to do is strike the Ferro rod at a different angle. They all can do it. Love your channel.. Regards from Tennessee

Good review! You should definitely check JP Peltonen M95. Superior to Terävä 140. Also that is the original. The Varusteleka 140 took influence from that. Its basically my most versitale blade. Just does everything. I sell lots of knives, Bark Rivers can go, lots of others that stays. Cheers!

I like the Peltonen knives. They don't have sharp spines ,however just because a knife dosen't have a sharp spine dosen't mean it is not good.

80crV2 steel is twice as tough and keeps its sharpness longer than 1095 steel, this is not said by me but by Dr. Larrin Thomas creator of magnaCut steel. I don't understand that you like knives made of inferior 1095 steel and you consider this to be an ok steel for cheaper knives

@@AlaskanFrontier1 don't be arrogant when you're wrong ... because of its toughness, it can be tempered to a higher hardness than 1095, so you get a knife that keeps its sharpness longer and is still a little tougher than 1095. By the way, you could at least try to read something about the knife when you buy it .. there are 1000 knife tests on the internet where people demonstrate that it can throw a spark and you persistently say that it can't, you're just a fake

@@johanesgo8096 any knife can be tempered to the same hardness, no one steel is able to be tempered higher than another but its performance changes. You need to listen as I said 1095 Cro Van. I will acknowledge my wrongs when I’m wrong but you simply didn’t listen to me in the video and spun your own contrived meaning.

@@AlaskanFrontier1 not every steel can be hardened to the same hardness (I work in the metal industry) and some steels with a higher hardness retain their elasticity better, so you can leave them at a higher hardness (which usually favors keeping sharpness). I apologize if I was rude and it would be great if you could do a comparison test between 80 crv2, 1095, 1095cv, sk5

The video title makes it sound like the reviews are gonna be much more negative than they turned out to be. I've used the larger Woodsknife leuku for very light chopping & kindling prep type tasks. Recently got a small puukko of theirs with the aim of using it primarily for carving. Also got the bare Skrama 240 blade & made an ash handle for it. Definitely a fun chopper.

Talking about knifes when you have not used them is kinda meaningless all you are doing is talking about your byes. How I know the knives don't have any use marks one them.
