Hi i have a ps4 white light problem and need advice. So i traded a faulty xbox one original for a supposed faulty ps4 original from a person that fixes consoles that wanted the Xbox for spares. So on the day i got home with the ps4 i used my ps3 cables to power it on and it miraculously powered on which surprised me as the controller was connected properly using the usb cable. But i saw the screen flash black then back to the home screen which i didn't know what is was then it did it once more and was displaying perfectly. After about 5 mins of waiting for it too show some errors or switching off because i did not expect it to work i plugged in my usb speakers to the other usb port on the front while the controller was plugged in. That was when the screen went black instantly. I didn't know what happened and pressed the eject button and a copy of GTA 5 came out which means the console was still powered on. When i plug the controller and speakers in on my ps3 super slim at the same time is says too many devices drawing power something like that. So i think it drew too much power on the ps4 and caused a wlod on the ps4. Im trying to do a home repair with minimal tools and if you could give me some idea of what the usb ports could have shorted eg a transistor or fuses or something. It still powers on and everything but that was the defining factor i think that contributed to the white light of death. Any recommendations would help as ive watched a lot of KZfaq videos and most are the ic chip or some transistor . Its a original ps4 with wlod

IF you have fuse situations like this, you should make a 3A circuit breaker like I have. Alligator clips on each side. Connect on the fuse and if it trips, you've got your answer with no loss.

PSU fuses blowing is most likely a shorted diode in the rectifier. Look for the 4 diodes together and test them.

It looks like the rectifier on this board is a single package jobbie. Marked as BD1 on the board, perpendicular to the common mode choke, directly opposite the mains in jack.

Bridge rectifier is short. Mains fuse blown on PSU = bridge or chopper fet

Stop blowing fuses!!!! Use a 100W bulb in serial with the main to reduce current. If the bulb lit you have a short. Do not be con-fused.

I wish exploitable ps4's was still a way to go here in the US. I had a extremely low firmware ps4, 2. something, on evilbay for months at $200, and it was in beautiful condition. I eventually just took it off, updates it, and sold it for $150.

I picked up a £20 PS4 Slim that didnt turn on from FB last week. Turned out the power button ribbon cable had come loose. I was also hoping for a lower FW version but it was fairly up to date :(

I think the fuse marking on the board showed a 4A / slow trigger type of fuse .....

Hi Phil, dunno if you can help me with this, or maybe this is a question for a live stream or something. I work abroad as a teacher but have repaired laptops, setup computers, fixed the odd simple console fault such as replacing HDs, power supplies etc. I believe my real interest is in e-waste and making money from it. You say that you have family members/friends involved in the scrap trade, what kind of scrap is it, is it the drive around in a van collecting any sort of scrap or is it e-waste? Do you have any contacts in that area as I would be really interested to get some advice. Thanks Graham

i have a question i have a switch that works perfect when joy-con are connected to the console. but disconnect only while playing smm2 only on this game. half way playing they will stop working so i have to take them off and re-connect then they work again. only on that game all other game are perfect? odd i know any ideas

Hey man, I wonder if you can help. I've got a fortnite switch edition and the sd slot stopped working. I gave it to a mate who said he knew what he was doing to try and fix and he just messed it up! Now I've got the tablet with the sd slot taken out😢. Would you be interested in taking a look? Might make for an interesting video.
