Just subscribed. I took 30 years off league bowling while I worked 2 jobs and raised my kids. Used to carry 195 throwing a red Brunswick Edge and a Columbia White Dot for spares. You young guys have revolutionized the game and made it interesting again, even for an old timer like me. My wife and I just joined a duo anytimers league. I bought a used Game Break to practice with and a new Purple Hammer to have some urethane in the bag. Looks like I’m gonna be around 175 until I can learn to make spares again and start hitting it hard enough to stop leaving the soft 10. Go get ‘em Darren! Looking for to May - League Season 2022

Suggestion for 4 or 5 weeks of challenges on League night. Week 1 - must stay throwing right of 2nd arrow Week 2 - try to stay between 2nd & 3rd arrow Week 3 - continue moving over 1 arrow left... you'll get the point

That's my go to technique when the hook isn't working. Go with the Admiral Nelson option: "Go straight at ̓em!"

Outstanding!!! At 16 I was a ranked, 205 bowler in Canada. Then real life hit and due to health issues I could no longer compete. I was crushed. I loved the game where you played straight. It can be a winning strategy, but the release point must be spot on every time.

I love that Darren’s arm is slower than others but still gets more rev rate than others

I believe it is possible to average high scores if you threw a powerful straight all. Bowling balls are designed to hook, so anyone who spends time in the game practices with a hook approach, yet when a straight ball hits the pocket at high speed, it is like an nuke bomb. Someone who spends years throwing that style can average 230-250. Just nobody has ever tried it.

Loved the nomad dagger. Shot my 1 and only 800 with it a few years ago. Never had a 300 with it but was definitely a goat

I have totally gone to a straight ball during league once the lanes became burned up. Few things are more frustrating than your ball checking up early and not being able to adjust by moving the feet or the target.

My first reactive ball ever was a pearl nomad… if that thing was 15lbs id still throw it, loved that thing and it was a great ball for somebody learning the game

Hey man try this… bring your target closer to you near the dots between arrows and foul line, it will change the angle just enough so the ball will get out a lil bit. When I do this it requires an acknowledgment of getting through the shot a lil quicker. 🤷🏻‍♂️ worth a shot.

When the lanes gets tough and funny like they did for you. I go back to basic. Move Right and throw straight or maybe a 5 board curve. I was surprised you threw straight from the left !? But your the Pro... what do I know. Hang in there !

I was bowling a similar situation today... Couldn't get the ball to go right. Kept hitting Brooklyn strikes or leaving the 5 pin and a ton of splits.. A couple I converted and was very proud of... Kept moving left until a group of teens came in and got the two lanes to my left. They had NO bowling etiquette, so had to stop lofting the gutter.

Darren, I was in the time of wood to synthetic lanes. Talk about a change. Columbia 300 yellow dot. My first adult league I shot 696 and 694. But when the oil is not right.... I shot 118 on a Saturday after a kids league with no re oil.

League Night season 2 !!

WOW! Darren Tang you throw some GREAT straight balls BUT you bowled like I still do throwing the straight ball to the left & to the right of the head pin for a GREAT shot both sides of the head pin & 1 down the center but we throw it hard enough so it don't leave a NASY split most of the time. I've had the front 8 two times so far within a year of me starting bowling again since I stopped in April of 2007 then started back up in May 2021 almost a year now. another words I'm still a LUCK ball bowler even with a straight ball! until I can keep my ball from crossing over a lot of the time I am a lucky shot bowler! I stand to the far left of middle dot & my straight ball strike is on the left side of the pins, its a lucky ass hell ball if it hits to the right of the pins that is a Brooklyn strike to me! you saw how the pins go down = they all go down all at once that's a precise shot. anything less then that is a LUCKY shot strike. I use a fun ball plastics 10lb & they go do just like yours did some of the time. I throw at 16 MPH most of the time. my strikes looks just like your did! even with a 10lb over your what 15 or 16lb? today is 4-6-22 & this Sunday I will be throwing my starlight ball strike for the first 10 games then I will switch to my no thumb 10 lb fun ball as a hook ball to the pocket. I'll switch after either 10 games or 1 hour of my 2 hours of bowling this Sunday.
