Thank you Darren for posting this. I am a bowler that averaged 210+ back in 2016. I had a wrist injury, and lost my release, my timing and worst of all my confidence. I struggled to bowl 170 by the year 2018, and had to take a hiatus from bowling. I am just getting back into it, and I am averaging about a 160. Mentally I am fried! Practice looks like 220+, in league still 160s. This video lets me know that its okay to struggle, and even throw some bad shots and bad games. Its okay. Come back and keep bowling. Thanks!

Darren, I just want to say thank you for showing that 128. As a league bowler who can throw a 245 and the next game is a 145, it's nice to know that anyone can bowl a sub par game, even the pros. Those massive swings are pretty demoralizing but the way you guys handle it is really inspiring for us league guys. Thanks for leaving that in.

Seriously. People always out here acting like really low games are impossible. I legit had a horrific first game a couple weeks ago, a 107, I just kept getting the worst splits and couldn’t close even easy spares it felt like. Then I bowled a 169, then a follow up 204 for the final game, but I was getting pressed about the 107 game like bs doesn’t happen from time to time. Lol

Not on the same day, but I have a 118 and 299 on the same ball. Sometimes when I suck balls I can't tell how much it's just my choking in the worst ways or the ball mismatching with what the pair has. Other times it's just bad breaks. Darren could hardly carry a light hit in this event and 7-10ed a few times

@@xIronMaskx Haha, definitely. I just had another rough transition game 2 this past Monday. I had a 200 first game, a 100 second game with a bunch of splits and just bare misses on the flat 10, then a 190 game 3. It’s always the 1st or 2nd game which give me the random catastrophe game.

Yeah, without seeing every shot it's hard to tell but it seemed like that ball and the Pitch Black had decent lines for him. Yet in the vid it seemed like he really was determined to swing it.
@rhegafd

@@Helthurian I agree that not seeing every shot in order makes it hard to say anything definitively. But from my perspective (and it happens on most videos) he throws what Ill call a mid-hook > strike > throws a slightly bigger hook > leaves a 10 pin > then continues to throw a bigger and bigger hook moving more boards t o the left. When he throws a more straight shot, the action he gets in the pocket is insane. But again, as soon as he leaves a10 pin its back to huge swinging hooks.

Don’t feel bad Darren, it’s not even the pattern honestly, it’s Bowlero. Lmfao. I swear they literally sand the lanes to 80 grit, then throw some beer and soda on the lane to make it sticky and dirty, then lay the pattern on top of that for you to bowl on in tournaments only, since they don’t even try to oil the lanes otherwise. Lol. XD

That's just bowling. Some nights, you hit anywhere in the pocket, or even just touch the head pin, and all 10 will go down. On this pattern, on this night, any mistake you made, you were paying the max penalty. 2-10's, Greek Churches, you were even splitting when you were throwing the ball straight. Just write it off as a bad night and move on. We know you're a helluva lot better than this. Keep on grinding, and one of these weeks you will hold that trophy before you know it.

Let me give you a bit of advice. If you want to throw straight at a rack of bowling pins, you gotta use the 11 lb ball and throw it 25 mph. If you had hits like that when you started bowling straight, with a 11 pounder, those hits might carry. Sometime with a 11 lb ball at 25 miles per hour you may miss the headpin and still strike.

So Daren Tang where's the straight ball? This WED 4-12-23 was our last bowling day so we bowled in NO-tap. my first game was only a 212, the second game I had the front 9 then on my 10th frame I put it right in the pocket with no doubt it & left a solid pocket 5-10 split & only got the 5 pin for a 264 game, the last game #3 I had the back 9 for a 258 with my ending series of a 734 my highest series ever on league. I used my 12lb spiral black, yellow & blue visaball plastic polyester ball. I stood to the far right with my right foot 1 board to the right of the first dot on the second row of dots, I lofted the ball just past the arrows so about 12' out on the FIRST board, that angle with ZERO side-ward roll = STRAIGHT BALL all the way to the pins was my 9 or better ball at around 14 MPH. you can see all my OPEN bowling over 120 bowling videos on my Rumble account. got to rumble to do a rumble search " Learn how to become a better Straight/Hook ball bowler with the Brooklyn Crusher" some of my videos will come up. they are all listed by the date I bowled them. I list videos ever week. I will be bowling again on Sunday 4-16-23 but don't post in until WED the 19th & it takes a few days to post. type in the date with the search that might bring it up. I will show this Sundays video how I bowled on this last wens-days league that I had 9 in a row in both the 2nd & 3rd game. it about the angle NOT roll that's why I lofted it 12'. I found out you can only have up to a 1.5 degree angle on your BEST straight ball from the foul line so to create more angle you must loft it out more for more angle. about 12 to 13 feet or in line with the first arrows on the FIRST board or on the 39th board. I can never get it to work on other boards 1 & 39 only! 12 to 13 out ONLY! must be standing in the gutter area before the foul line of course. I will show it on my next video my 121st video this Sunday 4-16-23. with a truly str8 ball you NEVER have oil or dryness to mess with it will NEVER matter with lane conditions & you NEVER EVER need to wipe your ball = oil does NOT matter.

Not a professional, don't bowl tournaments, just league, so take everything i say with a heavy pinch of salt I feel it has something to do with entry angles, simonsen actually bowled plastic with surfave at the end of the pattern (i haven't watched darren yet, it was in brad and Kyle's video) and the entry angle came in so shallow that he had to HEAVE the ball to get any action. The right side is more likely to leave 10 pins, and be less consistent It's also basically impossible for 2 handers to drop their rev rate enough to make use of their primary balls on an extremely dry pattern from the right side

I guess in this case the lanes were so burned that it is impossible to play a smaller hook. Hence lofting it. But also it is sort of a "paradigm" in bowling these days that after 3 or 4 games you move wayy in. But also the modern balls and high rev players contribute for the 'burning' of the oil pattern after few games
