I’ve been running it like a business for 4 months- work full time and work on Etsy probably 20-25 hrs a week. I do POD and done everything you’ve said to do and even put videos on my listings. I paid someone on Fiverr $50 to critique my shop, done tons of research, etc etc. I don’t watch TV- I watch You Tube videos. I don’t listen to the radio- I listen to KZfaq videos. I’ve only made 5 sales to family. I’m not giving up but I’m severely frustrated.

It’s tough to say without seeing things, but the majority of what I see when I do shop audits for my group members is either niches that are too broad, product categories that are much more challenging to get consistent sales volume (like home decor), and/or designs that don’t resonate with customers. If a niche or product type or design style isn’t working and getting you results - change things up. Spend more time where your customers are (I spend more time scrolling/researching through Etsy and Pinterest and trendy apparel sites to see where market demand is than I do on KZfaq where videos will just present you with shiny objects to chase after). Look at your individual listings stats - are you getting a good volume of visits and favorites? If not, your listings either aren’t showing up or they’re not attracting your customers to click into them. If they are getting lots of visits and favorites but no sales, then there might be other barriers to purchasing (price, product details, shipping, etc). And while I haven’t used it myself, be really careful with Fiverr, I have yet to see anyone get really good Etsy results with advice or Etsy help coming from there. There are lots of people willing to sell their advice on Etsy who haven’t actually achieved success themselves. Cheering you on 💜

This is great business advice. My wife and I run several "side hustles" and my goal this year was to bring business maturity to our businesses. This video is affirming a lot of those steps I need to take to have the right mindset. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and being a spiritual cheerleader for all of us aspiring hustlers :)

Your are my very favorite. I’m going to try harder by maybe dropping my already limited social life. It’s a time thing so I’m def in a bind. By following your time saving habits, actually following step by step, I’ll get into efficiency and who knows, maybe I’ll make it. I love drawing and designing with Midjourney, Procreate, Kittl and Canva. Going to commit for a year. Thank you! You’re a wonder…

I applaud your tenacity and really enjoy your contact. Keep up the great work. I’ve been a successful marketing Director, production Director for radio and also have a very active mobile DJ company, but I love the print on demand space and now as empty-nesters my wife and I are putting in a lot of effort to growing an Etsy store as well as other print on demand stores. We are very happy that we found you on KZfaq because we did not know a lot about print on demand and the development of online commerce. You have been a valuable resource and continue to be. Thank you for all of your great information!

I’ve always seen Etsy as one of my main incomes. My partner is helping with my bills, so I quit my 15 yr stable job to do what I love. I’m obsessively working on my POD and I have an Etsy jewelry shop…. which just realized people have favored my items on there! I am dying to make this happen! …. Print quality is slowing me down though. Mandy could you make a video on that, as far as what colors not to use. How to prevent the white base ink from showing. Mine shows even on the reprint Printify offered! I got past the grainy vintage look, I understand it now bcus of one of your video. But another issue is I used a brown/beige color and it printed yellow! I’ve heard that colors might be more dull do to the RGB converting CMYK but mine where brighter/lighter. My purples where pink 😩 I can keep ordering samples for everything out of fear. Printify also reprinted that shirt, it also showed the white under base paint again and colors were still pink.

Hi, I've been wondering about the vintage textured look, and wondering why some don't like this.Does it not print well? Generally, I love the aged look. But, if it doesn't print well I don't want to use it either...

Copyright in Etsy? What do you do? Hi Mandy, I just opened my store with 6 designs and Etsy's pick one of them and now big stores are copying my designs and selling as digitals. What do you do? because I can't compete with them. They didn't made any changes at all others just cut my logo which is on the side and post them as theirs.

I love the message from this video❤. I have a handmade business and i was wonderìng if you have any time management suggestions specifically for that - as you also sell handmade products. I find it sometimes very overwhelming to organize all the tasks that need to get done - researching, creating, packing orders etc. I have a hard time putting efficient systems in place.

I've sent hundreds of dollars on mock ups, listing products and losing profits on the few sales I've made while trying to figure out a strategy. I've watched hundreds of videos and spent hundreds of hours of my time after my full time job and on my days off doing research and making listings. I probably would have given up by now if these POD influencers didn't keep making these videos saying it's "possible". Which of course it is. But is it likely to reach the level of success these POD influencers have? No. Not at all. Even a fraction of the success is unlikely. I've grown up online so I have digital skills, I'm a consumer, I've spent countless hours to learn and apply the knowledge and I'd even like to think I even have some creative ability. All of these things alone promise nothing in terms of POD success. I'm going to keep going to see if I can beat the overwhelming odds of failure. My excitement and motivation rises and dips constantly but if sticktoitness is one of the main factors of success (like I've heard many successful PODers say) then maybe i have a chance to succeed in this business.

Not sure if you know the answer but why do people say Etsy algorithm takes so long to understand your listing/shop? I have seen videos of long time Etsy users say it can be almost up to 6 months!! Seems odd specially since social media apps have such an instant algorithm. Is Etsy just not evolving in the right direction ? I know they seem to be constantly testing things out but maybe we don’t see it since we are newer shops. I launched my shop mid June was getting ok amount of views had a few sales by end of Aug I think I was at 29 sales (not too bad I thought) September came around and it went to zero sales barely any views. It was as if I dropped off the Etsy. I finally got couple of sales by last day of September but found it so odd. Like what happened to my shops algorithm?? Also would love to hear your thoughts about TikTok shop and if it’s affecting Etsy in anyway? And as always thanks for sharing all your knowledge I don’t think I could of gotten this far without you!

Mandy, did you get the printify email about product and shipping rates increases in October 12? This is really going to eat into profits. Shipping rates were already high but now it’s crazy. Best way to approach this other than raising prices? ❤
@studiomdesignsco
@studiomdesignsco 10 ай бұрын
Unfortunately everything is just getting more expensive everywhere these days. I feel it even in my handmade biz. Shipping has also gotten super expensive, and the bulkier an item is the more it costs (which is part of why I stick to things like apparel, so I was not impacted by the recent email except a couple of my prices actually went down). That being said, you can either raise your prices or if you have previously offered free shipping you can turn that off and start charging for it. I’ve started charging shipping in one of my shops and turned off free shipping so that I can keep base prices lower. It’s experimental at the moment but so far listings are still performing well 😊

Do you have a comparison video, for Ehunt, Erank, Everbee, Alura, and/or Sales Samurai? I’m curious if they have the same info, and which one is best. Some say they pay Etsy, to receive their info, but I’m not buying that, I think they’re probably all getting the info off of third party sites, but would love to see a video comparing these. Looking up the same products on all of these, to see the results, then, comparing them to the actual Etsy website/listing. Many of the videos, I see, are showing them, or pushing them, because they’re getting some sort of payment out of it. I’m thinking of getting one, but would surely like to see which one is the most accurate. I’m not sure which one is your favorite, but of all the blogs I have seen Alura and Etsy hunt seems to be the favorite on them.
@studiomdesignsco
@studiomdesignsco 10 ай бұрын
I use/have used all of them over the years. If I could only pick one for my budget it would be eRank (just the basic level is all you need) - they have been around for a long time and are one of the few that Etsy directly recommends in its integrations. They invest heavily in their data and I have found it to be highly trustworthy (though none are perfect). Etsy only releases certain info in its API, so every 3rd party system is getting other data elsewhere. That’s just how these types of systems work and it’s a standard industry practice. The difference is that they’ve each developed their own algorithms to represent the data in their systems. From there, it comes down to different visuals. I am an extremely visual person, so Sales Samurai has never been my choice. The biggest value from eRank is using their keyword explorer to find solid niches and related niche keywords. Everbee and EtsyHunt are good for their chrome extensions. EtsyHunt is nice because it’s free but it can be clunky or glitchy sometimes, so I do also pay for Everbee and use it while researching directly on Etsy 🤓

I've been using eRank, EtsyHunt and Everbee for the last month and it's pretty much standard for them all to give very different results for the same keywords. They can paint a very different picture for what might be good keywords to go after. Sales numbers for items can differ as well, though not as drastically. When I tried out Sales Samurai for 3 days it also gave very different results for search volume. Great response by Mandy already though, and I got absolutely no clue which one to trust, just thought I'd point out that they do give you different results.
