Hello dear friends,
in this video I recreate iconic buildings like the SEGA arcade and Karaokekan, try my hands on Revell models, create an explosion effect and tie all together to a battle scene, set in Akihabara.

well done. here's a tip for making roads... paint with german grey first, then your main, lighter road color. wait until almost dry and use a tissue to smear away some of the road color in the center of each road. this will give the appearance of exhaust and rubber having discolored it over time. also, use a sponge to apply the stripings 👍🏻

Hey Ryan, thanks a lot for that tip. I'll keep that in mind for my next attempt. Sponge for the stripings also sounds great. This will leave a more weathered and beaten look, I suppose.

Most of us don't have a hot wire cutter either. Those things cost as much as a Perfect Grade.

Yeah, I was thinking about getting a hotwire cutter more than once now. In the end it does make things easier, but like you said, it's not cheap...

i love 5:18 so much, lol, and ironically, i have that same kit waiting to be built also, i'm watching this between my exams (i totally wasnt listening to this in my first exam as white noise, nope, not at all) i would also like to say, you did an amazing job, the diorama looks great!

Haha yes, I love it whenever she joins the filming process. Whenever I snap build kits, she sits next to me on the table. It's so adorable. Good luck with your exams :)

In addition to a miter box, you might want to consider looking for a Chopper. Those are great for a lot of things where you're cutting through things, though more for use with wooden pieces. You might also consider glancing at wooden canvas options, I've found them as a slightly better option for dioramas and other things compared to picture frames.

Are you by any chance talking about the Chopper by Northwest Short Line? I just looked it up and it looks really premium. The price is also very premium lol. But yeah, that would be an amazing tool to have. Also thanks for the tip with the canvas 👍 I'm always glad for tips like these.

@@GiantRobolove That's one version of it, there are several other things that do the same thing that are a bit cheaper. The Northwest Short Line one is more expensive due to a few other things that it's capable of since it also works for chopping through model railway rails, so essentially able to chop through shaped metal railway pieces without deforming them.

@@GiantRoboloveIt's still a great tool, but it is the premium tool and one you'd want if you're considering model railroading or anything with more precision cutting involving metals or thicker resins

Looks very good, it's an interesting sight seeing a Kampfer in the Middle of Akihabara. The Kampfer scenes in War in The Pocket, felt less like a Mobile Suit fight and more like a monster movie, especially with people running around in the street and several shots looking up to the Kampfer.

This is beautiful, and is exactly the kind of thing I'm going to get into! Great work, especially with the Apache. For added comedic effect you could have added a bandaid to a finger every time you did a jump cut after the pin vice attacked you.

@@GiantRobolove Gunpla habe ich dort auch das erste Mal bestellt. Früher immer Kram rund um Brettspiele, 40k, Farben etc. Sind immer recht fix und freundlich. Die Preise sind auch top.

u sir have earned my full respect as a gunpla modeler. your attention to detail is amazing. i would like to ask you for some hacks and tricks to make zaku eyes and MS green sensors look more active currently i use silver foil stickers and clear cut off runner parts for making sensors but would like to know if u ever tried your hand in sensors and gm antennas how to make good looking antennas

Thanks a lot. Have you tried UV resin for the eyes? There are some products that are being used for DIY jewelry. You could also try stickers or even paint color that react to UV light to make them shine. I've seen a bunch of people do this. In terms of antennas: I would probably handcraft them out of polystyrene. Haven't done any yet, but I guess that would probably be my approach.

Loved this build man, you did amazing. I have a question. What calculations did you use in order to determine the size of the buildings? Are they completely to scale with the actual kampfer?

Hey, thanks for watching. All of the sizes were eyeballed. The only thing I paid attention to was the height of the building that the apache is attached to. Next time I'll try something more true to scale.

Tolle Arbeit 👏 Endlich mal einer aus Europa :P Was ich bei deinen Videos sehr schätze ist deine Transparenz und deine "learning by doing"-Einstellung. Das nimmt dem Ganzen den Druck raus das perfekte Diorama zu gestalten und zeigt, dass es ein Prozess ist. 😃 Mich würde interessieren wo du dein ganzes Material usw her hast. Ich find es super schwer an Sachen zu kommen und wenn, dann überteuert 😮‍💨

Hi, vielen Dank für das nette Kompliment :) Anders könnte ich es auch gar nicht darstellen, weil ich echt fast alles via trial and error mache 😅 Was genau suchst du denn? Für das Grundmaterial wie die Plastikplatten, -rohre, etc. grase ich oft architekturbedarf.de ab. Die Styrofoamplatten hole ich oft bei modulor.de und die Farben bei dersockelshop.de. Für Vegetationsmaterial gehe ich - man mag es kaum glauben - in einen Hobbybedarfladen hier bei mir in der Stadt. Oft ist die Anfangsanschaffung recht teuer, aber viele Materialien halten ja auch eine Weile :)

Great build, I gave a like, imagination and skills were top notch. Only thing leaves me perplexed is that the scenario is too clean and therefore unrealistic. There is a battle in progress, with collapses and explosion, therefore street lights, fences and buildings facade needed painting and weathering. Cheers

Yeah I get what you're aiming at. I was rather conflicted regarding the story for this diorama. In my head I had the picture of that one scene in War in the pocket where the Kaempfer stomped through the city. I kinda wanted to go for that vibe. A place where fighting has not broken out yet, but still deserted because people fled the scene. But then I had this collapsed building and went astray haha. Either way, thanks for watching and your input :)

Very impressive and your level of detailing and care for them is really good. I like your ingenuity in addressing scratch build issues. The explosion is particularly effective, in my opinion. How long did it take to complete this diorama?

What was the color you used for that brownish tone on the street and how did you apply it? I'm having trouble making my streets look better. I've used grout and ak interactive asphalt but I wanna try for that look.

It was a brown pigment made by Vallejo. To be honest though, I'm not too happy with how the street/asphalt turned out, so I'm not really the best person to ask. Next time I will try some other methods. If you skim through the comments here, there was someone who suggested a method on how to get good asphalt. And of course you could always check out Luke Towan's videos. He explains it the best.

Hello ! Love your videos ! I basically bought Gunplas mainly to develop Dioaramas, could you give me an estimate budget for such a diorama ? I have a hobby lobby with 50%+ sales on Diorama accessories in general but I really need budgeting ! I overspent $700 worth of gunpla model kits in less than a week, and I haven't even bought the brushes, paint, cement etc...... I do have a pretty reasonable amount of money to spend to be set !

Hey, thanks. That's hard to say. It depends if you count the purchase for tools as well. For materials it's maybe 50-70 bucks. So this will be peanuts for you ;)
