Sensor stab is definitely playing a role Also he stuck to high FPS slowed down to normal speeds on the longer lenses. Notwithstanding, this process is very replicable and it’s archetypal to the point it could be easily packaged for commercial clients looking for product shots. It’s a great setup for working photographers
@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL
@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL Жыл бұрын
@@The_CGA The shots look smoother when sensor stabilizer is turned off actually. Its counter intuitive but you fight the stabilization otherwise--- mechanically stabilized using the vibration free Orbit motor is all you need, it's literally as smooth as bearings. There are plenty of shots that are in real time, the ones of me talking are 24fps, I stuck to slowmo because at that focal length and speed those are significantly less nauseating for the viewer, but the realtime shots are just as smooth as the slowmo ones. which is absolutely bonkers. ALL OF THIS I DIDN'T KNOW BEFORE I MADE THE VIDEO.
@kai.05

@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL The IBIS part kind of makes sense. I'm guessing it introduced a weird stutter? If the sensor's inertia is pulling it to one side of the camera, I'd assume the IBIS would have issues correcting it
@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL
@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL Жыл бұрын
@@kai.05 yeah exactly. Especially on the longer Gmaster lenses (70-200 and 200-600) those have their own stabilization, and both combined it was making a correction for horizontal movement when there shouldn't be a correction, introducing a stop-stutter effect.

I think one of the coolest parts of this is that if you don't have a whole stack to drop on the motor it would be pretty easy to set up a manual version of this. I think it would be a lot more stable if you used multiple slack lines, at least with one on the top to prevent it from swinging. This has my DIY side spinning my friend, good shit.

The concept is absolutely there. I can see a long conversation scene where this could make for high drama. I think an eye hook at both far ends on top of the pole and a cable that runs back to the very top above the motor (like a suspension bridge) would help with stability. Set it all up on the ground or hang it on something waist high as far as length and how tight the cable needs to be and just hang the whole set up on the horizontal cable when you got it all set up. The wind would probably make the shots almost unusable. I could be wrong but this version would def not hold up strapped to a car while moving. You would need to invest 100k into a custom built rig like a TopCrane or something. Could work for green screen or virtual production though!

Hi, suggestion to use aluminum extrusions as support and springs for counterbalance in a mechanical system. Aluminum extrusions have a high strength-to-weight ratio and are easy to manufacture and assemble, which can improve performance and manufacturing efficiency. Additionally, using springs for counterbalance can provide a constant force over a range of motion, which can offset the weight of moving parts or provide smooth and controlled movement. When considering these materials and components, it is important to analyze the specific requirements of the application to ensure optimal performance and safety, as well as the overall cost-effectiveness of the design.

I really like that you seem to be able to read my mind and try the stuff I would be trying if I had one of these. I think the next step is to use some kind of aluminum track for the camera and counterweight, triangle the top of course, then add another motor in the middle, center of gravity, and use that to pull them closer together, smaller radius, or out, larger radius while spinning. A pulley on each end of the track and just coil the pull cable in the direction you need to go. Looking forward to the warehouse shots. Keep doing what you do, this is great stuff.

Hey Josh, been following you for a few years now, and I'm glad you're successful. However, I'm not sure if you know who your audience is any more. I started following you because your creativity spoke to me as a creative. Gerald and Caleb are my go-tos with gear reviews, and yours was for imagination using that gear. It's a very tiny percentage of people that have large back gardens with load-bearing trees they can just dangle electric lazy susans from. For such a one-off shot, there is zero need to involve electricity unless you needed repeatability for VFX, in which case the floppiness of the straps, the weak motor and let's not forget wind would make the shot worthless.
@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL
@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL Жыл бұрын
1. If this isn't creative I don't know what is. 2. I know my audience better than you guys, I have the data and hundreds of videos. My audience is 99% men, 33% are between 25-38 years of age, and 40% live in USA. It's a ridiculous amount of data KZfaq gives us to tell us exactly WHO you are and my job is to make videos that are entertaining and pinpoint the interest of you guys. This video is a 1/10 meaning it's performing better than my last 10 videos, so even more to the point that this video is what my audience wants right now. 3. You could set this up at a park, or warehouse, or between two poles. We sell a pro kit so you can attach to light stands, or you can attach to the ceiling. We've sold over $1M of the orbits in the last 2 years since I launched the Kickstarter-- so this device as much as it's "out of touch" to you or overkill, is literally a million dollar invention. 4. VFX Shots are one aspect, longer lenses are another, virtual production is a 3rd, filming yourself without the need of a gimbal operator is another, getting perfectly centered parallax shots without drift. 5. Works fine in the wind. Did you not see the shot of it working fine while snow is coming down?! We live in Dayton, Ohio-- it's extremely windy here!! No problems so far. Love you, but come on guy, gimme a break.

@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL Geez, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I truly appreciate the gifts you have given us. However, you're in danger of turning into yet another Peter McKinnon. Stats are meaningless. 99% men blah blah. Have you polled us? Not my place to dictate what your channel should show me. That's 100% up to you, and always should be. But KZfaq gives us lowly unwashed a chance to talk back to the creators, so I am taking the opportunity to do so, and I bet a fairly large portion of your viewers don't get to test out pre-production gear using top-end supercars and road trips to exotic locations. Well, like I said, your circus, your monkeys. I'm happy that this is your life now, but it is out of touch with the viewers that subscribed from your Burning Man days. I hope you have a pleasant weekend.
