You should have acces to quartz and redstone lamps, if you start a new world, you should go caving as fast as possible, if you get out of the cave, you should have redstone and enough obsidian for portal+enchanting table

I’m starting a new Minecraft world and wanted to plan which biome I’m building in ahead of time, even though it was a bit outdated it still covered most of the main biomes and gave me a better idea of where I want to build , thanks 😌👍

Try to put a pot, a dead bush, and then the leaves. It looks more real, aesthetic, and it's just build changing.

Campfires put out make great wall things, like you did with the stairs and gates on the forest build, but instead a campfire.
