11:32 What you've essentially created here is a pump & accumulator system. The pump feeds the accumulator which keeps your flow at a constant, usually faster, rate than just off a pump.

A really simple solution to the first (and last) row is to just move the hole one block forward for the first row and back one block for the last row, so there's only a single block gap instead of two. Instead of the sensor resting under a hole, the hole is right after it starts moving. Assuming the trigger is at the hole and not between (sensor to NOR to cannon). It can fire one block later because the plot is 3x3, not 1x1, and the water splash is also an "area" not a single block, so it doesn't need to be exact.

If you leave the chunk with the pistons extended, they will be extended when it loads; if it loads with the logic telling them to contract, they'll immediately start contracting and vice versa for the reverse situation. There are two ways to optimize this, you could set it to twelve hours apart to minimize the average time until it waters them or you could try to set it up to increase the chance of it watering them at a specific relevant time. The former seems more useful for full automation, as watering them at a specific time is irrelevant if you aren't going to also harvest them immediately.

Or. . . he could just ditch the stupid alarm clock and go with a looping timer instead. Water more times than once a day. Now that we fixed our refill rate, it's not like we can't afford it/our intake of water would still out preform the water we use. If we water frequently due to timer intervals, chunk loading doesn't really matter. What does matter is finding out the right timer length for most time watering without outpacing your intake.

I was waiting for it to click. Yeh, it's about the chest being a big buffer, and utilising the flow rate to the watering container to compensate for the size of field.

I did some quick math based on what I saw in the video Water system math hypnosis Old: collection/s = X, dispensing 1/s = 5Y, dispensing 2/s = 5Y, dispensing 3/s = 5Y, total storage = 300 water, available water = 300, transfer rate(switching containers) = Z Calculation: 5Y>X which prevents filling of other tanks Z is not used often here New: collection/s = X, dispensing/s = 15Y, total storage = 700 water, available water = 100, transfer rate(switching containers) = Z Calculation: 15Y>Z>5-14Y>X with Z being close to 15Y it allows for smooth watering even though it has less available water than the old system

Shouldnt the piston logic gate be xor, so if you want to water the crops and the alarm clock is on you can flip the switch and it retracts 28:28

I think it starts watering again as soon as you entered the chunk, and thus by the time you could actually see it, it was fully watered and extended again. I think you can sort of hear the pump going at around 23:40 when you are driving back (it is VERY subtle though)

Easy way to test this. Pull up a dirt then put it back down so it's dry.

No, what you heard will have been the pumps being triggered exactly once because their switch turned back on. They won’t actually have moved though. The game won’t retract the pistons when the chunk is not loaded, only start when your back in the chunk and their trigger is off.

I'd like to see you make some automated base defenses, so you don't have to jump in and gun/cut down a bunch of cows every time you want to farm. Unfortunately, just like the base game, this mod doesn't really challenge you on the survival or base defense elements, and the gunplay gets a little bit stale. Also, since you mentioned other mods in the last video, I'd be interested in seeing you check out Fant Mod. It's not new, by any stretch, but it's still being updated and it incorporates a lot more in the way of new mechanics and mechanical pieces, like a more diverse set of weapons, more vehicle components, new tools, and new enemies.

If you want to get around the first row issue you can use a fourth piston, it can be level 1 since you only need it to travel 2? blocks. Then you set up the rail of cannons 1 block back so that the sensor gets to run over a trigger at the start and end. Also, I have never had cannons hit every crop plot on large fields if they are set high enough to work under them.... You might get them accurate if the cannons are less than 15 blocks up, but then you need the cannon rail to retract all the way out of the way to one side.

You should just use a piston to keep the first hole closed and it opens when you start the system so it hits the first plot.

Yeah but like, that would be required for both the first and last hole. Which means 2 pistons. And even then, it would still need to be a toggle. . . which is what a memory bit is. . . where if you are going that far. . . you already made a memory bit, making the pistons irrelevant.

With the way you currently have it set up, it will only water your crops if you are at the base at times when the alarm has changed state. If you are only ever there while your alarm is on, it will never water. e.g. with it currently set to be on from 0400 to 2000, if you are at your base at 1200, to get it to water you need to be at your base at some time from 2000 to 0400. If you are only there between 0400 and 2000, it will never water. What I would suggest is to make it so the timer is on for a short period, put it into a not gate, then a rising edge detector, and put the output of that to a timer circuit which stays on long enough for the pistons to fully extend. That way, if it remains loaded, the alarm goes on and then off, causing the output of the not gate to go off and then on, with the change to on causing the edge detector and timer to extend and retract the pistons. And if you leave the area and come back, the not gate turns on, triggering the rising edge detector and also causing it to get watered. At least that is how I think it should work.

23:52 The reason the pistons were still extended is because the game "remembers" the state when you leave the chunk, and loads in that state when you return to the chunk, and the logic hadn't changed its state yet, so no movement was required.

If you move the first and last sensor holes so that there's only 1 block between them and the next, then the first and last plot rows shouldn't get skipped on the first pass.

The manual switch should go into an XOR gate, not OR. Otherwise you can’t manually water when the pistons are extended, which is most of the time. Also I’d really like to see that system with the memory bit, shouldn’t take too many gates and would be more reliable than your current system: right now if you leave your base some time between 04 and 20, and come back the next day also during that time, the crops will not get watered for more than a day.

To avoid damaging ur water pump, u can go underground using ur lift n place it there. U just have to somehow make the pump n ur base one creation.

the missing may also be from the movement speed. the drops may be getting too much momentum from the pistons and occasionally drifting past the plot.

The missing is probably due to the speed the positions move vs the speed the cannon shoots you probably could set up a controller or timer to help regulate the speed

Are the wolves , bears, and bulls scared of saw blades and drills like the bots in the base game? A do not see a point on a timer on the watering system. Just leave the water on, and put a switch to water when you plant. You could also have a 4th piston in the system so it have enough room to start before the first plot and go to just past the last plot. Literally the piston only needs to go 2 blocks so it should not need to be upgraded. Can you put a sensor at each end of the system to make it go from one end to the other when you press a button... or maybe go out and back when you press a button. The other thing I was wondering is if you had that extra piston you could add a planting and harvesting system. Can you use a bunch of T parts and just have say one chest and connect all the pipes to that for 2 rows. You have what 15 plots wide, so 30 vacuum pumps, 30 T pipes, maybe 4 elbows and a couple of filters. I ran a system that had 6 chests with vacuum pumps harvesting, 6 water pumps, and 6 chests vacuum pumps to plant. I had 2 pistons and I think this let me have something like 8 rows. I just pushed a button and let it go. I usually had it grow the makings for vegie burgers with 2 rows of carrots, 1 of tomatoes, 1 of beats and 2 of potatoes. This game me a lot of extra potatoes for my spud gun too. Most playthroughs I am lazy and just do a 5x10 plot with a row of 5 water cannons in the middle and put a bearing on either side to oscillate the pumps from 60 degrees back to 60 degrees forward using a controller.

Couldn't kan just use the alarm clock as a means to "pulse" a logic signal to an OR gate for the initial water shot? The memory bit seems a bit unneeded. Personally, no offense or anything, but using the alarm clock instead of say. . . a looping timer. . . it just seems kinda. . . unwise. Using one alarm clock means it only goes off once a day. A looping timer means it goes off every (set amount of time). Chunk loading doesn't matter if the intervals are frequent enough. Like, we SUPER improved our water load times that I don't see why we WOULDN'T take advantage of it with more frequent watering. It's not wasteful if your refill out-paces the crop watering. . . which would be defined based on the frequency/length of the looping timer. My point is, you can HEAVILLY optimize this system in VERY simple/easy-to-setup ways.

The pulse is also what I thought of initially, but it’s actually more complicated, because you then need to lengthen the pulse to last long enough for all pistons to extend. That would require a decent amount of logic, too.

@@rccookie6202 You misunderstand. The pulse would be for the FIRST water shot (since it currently skips the starting position). It fires off before ANYTHING piston related happens. If anything, you want it to be quick so it turns off before the hole sensor reaches the next hole. There are 2 things hooked up to the or gate. First being the pulse that is triggered every time the alarm changes state, and the second is the gap sensor system he already has. Both of these don't do anything to the pistons, it just tells the water when to shoot.

You should make that manual trigger logic gate xor Atm while its on most of the time you wont be able to manually trigger it because of the alarm clock so the switch will do nothing

I'm curious as to why you upgraded the width of the ramp, but didn't move it such that you didn't have to constantly dodge a rock every time you used it. Seems like simply moving it to the other side of the garage, any side where it can fit correctly, would be better than dodging the rock.

For the first and last row, couldn’t you just have a block that’s rotating on a bearing which would cover the hole for the sensor when the pumps reach the end and then uncover the hole just before the pumps retract (maybe use a controller) and a similar thing for the extension

Pretty sure you miss watering because the pistons is slightly to fast and doesnt always line up overshoots the soil try like lower the piston speed with like 1 or 2 notches since you have 3 pistons the watering header basicly moves at the piston speed x3 minus whatever the friction the rails reduces the speed.

Possible solutions for missing first row when watering, move the hole for the first and last one block. The first row closed to piston move the hole one block forward. The last move the hole one block back.

Or loop a NORMAL timer. . . so this way it can water every 2 minutes or whatever intervals he wants. The watering only once or twice a day thing. . . I don't get it.

@@GreenAxolotI If it goes off frequently enough, it shouldn't matter. What does matter is making sure you don't go off too frequently to the point where you are using more water than you are obtaining. It comes down to learning your input:output rates and finding how long a delay you need to have the ratio be 1:1. Alternatively, isn't there an inventory observer now? He could just making it activate again when the large chess is full. This would be the MOST optimal way to do it. Well I mean, you would also need a failsafe timer toggle to make sure you don't reset the pistons prematurely.

the farm misses because it is still to fast i think, can you make that when first piston finishes his extension it triggers a sensor for second piston and the same with third one and by moving piston 1 it deactivates 2 sensors and 2nd and 3th piston go back as well

I think why it misses a plot is when it uses up a stack of water one pump misses getting water then it goes to the next stack of water

Would require and additional piston then. Even if that piston is only level 1. Taking apart the system to set it back up is a pain. You aren't wrong, but still a pain. Spaghetti logic, much less painful.

The fact that the watering system still misses bits is very strange and frustrating. There is no reason for that to be happening... unless there's a bug in the game itself. Devs?

0:42 your reasoning of four component kits to say 12 to 16 Capone kits makes sense kon gaming that just my point of view on your statement, other of yours may differ from you and me, but what you’re saying on the intro of the response for the whole not using pistons makes complete in other sense and quite frankly I agree with you on the not using pistons once you explained it the only thing that was gone through my hole is why did you not do the symmetry on both sides for the hinges but you explained it in the last video that it was able to work fine with meeting a second hinge like that first one on the opposite side and when I heard that I thought well if he doesn’t need to make a second long wood hinge on the opposite side to hold up the door then that’s good for him, especially if it’s still manages to maintain the weight of the vehicles crazy piston idea on a different sidenote would be a sliding piston platform into the garage for your hover vehicle if you didn’t do it on top of the staircase area where you were going to use all that concrete or stone or mentioning in the last video and the reason why I said! crazy kan it’s because I’m not sure myself if a you’d be able to get a single or double pit it in platform that would hold the weight of that however vehicle that can go in and out of the garage without colliding from the floor garage into the ceiling clearance wise but like I said crazy does that mean you have to do it? No, not necessarily it is your play through after all you’re serious videos as well. Hell, I don’t even know what I’m throwing out There would even work only the scrap mechanic expert who played the game would know if what I’m throwing out there in terms of suggestions would work that included you kan gaming

kAN, you should set the alarm clock to be half a day long to maximize the chance it hits an interval. The way you have it set up now, if you leave before midnight, and return after 4 AM it will miss that day's watering. Conversely, if you set it up to be 00:00-12:00, or 06:00-18:00 you would have to be out and back longer than 12 hours to miss a watering schedule
