I modded my Gameboy micro to run purely from the energy of nearby passing celestial bodies. One cool side effect is that it now floats in place wherever you release it, entirely removing the need to worry about fall damage.

I just want to point out when the solder looks like a bubble like it does at 5:16, there's a high likelihood of it not having a good bond with the pad below. Besides that, what an awesome build!

It doesn’t matter what is current, there will never not be a time where the Gameboy system doesn’t bring joy to the user. In a world of currents and must haves, having a system I’ve had since I was about 9 or 10 with gradual improvements made as time has passed just brings me a huge satisfaction

I built almost that exact same GBA about a month ago. Same blue metal shell (without the engraving). Boxy Pixel makes a really good shell and buttons.

I don't usually comment on these but hey really really nice touch. The mod work I enjoy seeing as it helps me get a little less crappy soldering with my overly basic cheap kit and I can do some good work these days in some ways. But no, it's not the help, it's the rare LOOK at seeing the person light up getting the fixed up old memory made modern as possible. I just had that joy a month ago, picked up a nearly destroyed original model GBA and popped it into a Super Famicom style kit, v4 IPS panel, wired up too, but I kept AAs. Maybe my age, or the fact you can always find those, not a charger...easily upgraded. But my memory was 1989 Christmas, somehow I slipped Super Mario Land out ahead of the GB, then came the mad dash. :D
