Do you think it was worth it?

Ignore the noise and do your thing. I've assembled my own guitars with authentic Fender parts and hardware and saved a ton of money.

Nice build, I’ve assembled a jazzmaster , just under the 700 in the past and I love it. Doing a tele next with a squier neck Resale value will never be high. But to build something with your own specs in mind, and save a lot of money as well is the bonus

Nice build. You can be assured that you have a great, personalized guitar, every bit as good, if not better, than a Fender model. And for less. Which brings me to my point. That is, it be even less costly and with no less quality, if you purchased the neck also from GFX. Save $200 right there. Many high quality components every bit as worthy as name brand, also could be used to save on expense without sacrificing quality. I really like the body and neck by GFX, as well as some Tonerider pickups, and electronics that are as good as 920D. Love the color. I'm getting same thing.

Shit, I took a bullet squire that had a real thin chincy neck and bought an $89 Glarry Thinline just for the neck. Reshaped the headstock, dropped in some Guitar Madness quarter pound pickup, didn't even have to touch the frets which shocked me. Now you can put it down -if you're into 50's necks. Thing is 10 times the instrument it was with that stock neck.

beautiful sounding guitar...and overall beautiful build... curious about the input jack plate though.. did it not go into the body all the way? seemed like 1/8" sticking out or something. about to try building one of these myself and wondering what to look out for.
@loopngroove7414
@loopngroove7414 Жыл бұрын
Great question! And something I didn't address in the video. This is not a standard tele input jack, it's one of the Electrosocket jacks that come with a threaded hole (so they never get loose). With the curve of the body it didn't fit perfectly into the cavity, but that's part of the design of the Electrosocket. They are a bit weird, but I recommend them for saving headaches with the input jack getting loose and spinning inside the guitar.

Should have put a neck with a rosewood or ebony fretboard on it! Maple fretboards just make a guitar look cheap!

I have a almost new Fender Stratocaster Ultra American wich I am selling to get me a Tele, but I dunno anymore if I will buy off shelf or if I should do like you here; go for a parts-build... hmm!? Those choices!? :) -Nevertheless: Tnx for a great video! - Keep 'em comin'! -AP from Norway

Very nice build, I have the same xgp body in lake placid blue, which is a vintage specification and the modern bridge is the same as yours and gives me 25.5 plus 1/8, could you explain how you did it? Thank you
@loopngroove7414
@loopngroove7414 Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Interesting, that's strange. I honestly don't know exactly why this would be different, but for some reason my bridge pickup routing location did not allow for the correct 25.5" length when I placed the modern bridge. No idea! But I'm glad yours worked! Hahah
@mondodicromo
@mondodicromo Жыл бұрын
thanks for the reply! Maybe I wasn't very explicit, I couldn't put the modern bridge the same as yours because the body of the guitar has “vintage” specifications, it is for the bridge with three saddles. My question is, how did you install it, did you achieve the measurement of 25.5 or did you have a difference of 1/8 like me, which I can't move the high E saddle anymore. Thank you again!!
@loopngroove7414
@loopngroove7414 Жыл бұрын
@@mondodicromo ah now I understand what you're saying. To intonate properly, you would need to move the bridge that 1/8 inch. I ended up buying a different bridge (I show it in the video) to hit the 25.5 measurement correctly. The modern bridge didn't work, so I had to buy something else. The fender one I used was very budget friendly though!

@@loopngroove7414 Nice build. It's been a while so I don't know if you'll see this, but, when you changed the bridge did the string through holes still line up or did you have to top load it? I've looked at those bodies before.

I’m about to do my first Strat build. Do you ever have problems with the finish cracking or breaking when you pre drill the screw holes?
@loopngroove7414
@loopngroove7414 Жыл бұрын
I didn't have any issues with this. I would use painters tape in the areas you'll be drilling, and go nice and slow with the drill. The finish can be delicate on some of these guitar bodies, so take your time. What holes are specifically are you talking about?
@EricMakingWaves
@EricMakingWaves Жыл бұрын
@@loopngroove7414 the holes for the 2 point tremolo are my main concern. And the pick guard holes to a lesser extent.

As a guitar builder, I feel you're using the wrong term for what you're doing. You are actual "assembling" a guitar as opposed to "building" one. I can see you have that stated in your text but not in your commentary.
