Hi Lisa! Fun fact- the reason you feel that “vibrating” sensation when you eat spicy foods is because it triggers the same pain receptors in your skin that react to heat, called polymodal nociceptors. These are pain fibers that exist all over the body. The spicy food excites those receptors and we feel the sensation of ‘tingling’ or ‘vibration’. 🙂

As a child I was afraid of eating those spicy noodles coz my spice tolerance was severely low. I admired the kids my age who willingly asked to have spicy noodles and foods for snack time though. Now I love spicy foods and I often look for spicy noodles in grocery stores. Younger me would be proud, though she'd be disappointed at the same time coz I only started eating spicy stuff before I finished college, which wasn't that long ago.

lol this sounds like me. my spice tolerance is wayyyyy too low (i have no idea why). i can’t eat those flamas doritos, or takis, or even when i eat buldak ramen and put the tiniest amount of the sauce, i CANNOT take it, it hurts waayyyy too much. idk what happened, two years ago i was fine with spice tolerance but it really sucks now 🥲🥲

With so many people trying the spicy challenges I was trying to do as much research as I could about what works best for spicy food to calm the spice & this is what I found. Basically once you reach into these higher scoville ranges you're pretty stuck with the spice for about 20 min. The bread will help absorb any surface chili oils out of the mouth & everything remaining is only fat soluble so whole milk & ice cream will help break it up. The reason for the 20 minutes is because hot peppers cause a chemical reaction in the brain & the higher scoville brings a longer reaction because your brain thinks something is burning you which is why you make a ton of saliva, snot & tears to try & flush it out & it takes about 20 min for your brain to decide you're safe.

This reminds me of the time I made noodles at my grandmothers.. went to add some pepper flakes, and used to POUR side instead of the SIFT side 😭 I tried not to waste them (not knowing that noodles were dirt cheap as a child) and by the third bite, the heat coming off the noodles mixed with the heat from the pepper flake was unbearable. My grandma laughed as she found me dying from the heat 😂😂😂

My friends test my tolerance as a party joke all the time, tried the one chip challenge with someone though(mind you I’ve eaten ghost peppers before- even got gifted ghost pepper powder to sprinkle on food 😂) I. FELT. DEATH. My stomach literally felt like a volcano was stirring up in there lmao. So watching her throw it back not once but twice was impressive

same ! when i first seen this it genuinely shocked me that people can endure all this spice, for me, i have interstitial cystitis so i can’t eat anything even moderately spicy without facing the painful consequences 😂

I'm someone who can't really handle anything hot or spicy so watching her eat all of this spicy good makes my mouth burn just watching her! I just don't get how people can enjoy food that literally turns them red from the spiciness

I used to not be able to eat spicy at all, but then I got a thai boyfriend and i ate at his house quite a lot. His mom always cooked authentic thai food which was 9/10 time super spicy. Since then ive been able to eat pretty much any spicy food as long as its not too ridiculous xD Im glad I learned to eat it cus spicy food is sooooooo good

“It’s hot, but not hot hot” would literally be perfect on a coffee mug since that’s what you drank milk out of sometimes.

To be honest, whenever I eat spicy ramen I like to pair it with an egg because the first bite is always spicy but then when I mix an over-medium egg with it the spicy goes away the more and more I eat it.

Apart from the Lemonade and maybe the yogurt, every other suggestion to calm the spiciness down was horrible. Props to Lisa for giving them a try while going through the extreme spice, but shame on the people who suggested those things.
