When Rust first came out my cousin would always try to get a band of people together to make a town and build up defenses while I preferred living in the near by mountains away from everyone like a hermit, Its still my favourite way to live out a wipe.

Man i used to play on 8 man groups everytime i was the only one who played the whole day so i Always had to grind the upkeep and mats to do the bases solo and when my teamates logged on we just went to pvp and raids,once i started the chill solo life just like willjum i just cant understand why i used to play in such stresseful way like grinding all day for a bunch of ppl to lose it

Every time I watch a rust video, I have a deep awareness that at any moment death can come from anywhere. They are usually pretty tense and I am exhausted after a half hour of suspense. Willjum's video are the exception to this. I never feel like he can be ambushed at any moment. It's either a testament to his editing style or his playing skills, but either way its great and I love it. Thanks!

I think part of it is his attitude, which is usually "oh, I can take this fight". He isn't often scared of encounters, and instead views them as opportunities, just like a minecraft player spotting an ore vein in a slightly hard to reach area. There is risk, but the risk is never really a focus, and instead the focus is on the potential gain.

ive watched a bunch of diff rust youtubers both sweaty and memey, and i dont say this very lightly, this vid is legendary. at the end of wipe day around 11:38, i felt the coziness and safety similar to falling asleep under a big blanket when its raining outside, something ive barely ever felt in videogames. i felt like i was playing alongside u instead of just being a spectator, and this statement is true for most of the other things u did. feels like watching bob ross, 10/10 cant wait to watch more of ur content!

You asked during the video how we like to build solo bases, so I'll share: Recently I've taken to building elongated bases with loot rooms at both ends. This last wipe I built something like a scuffed 4x1, splitting the loot between main TC and a loot room on the other side. I got raided right in the middle, and they didn't get any main loot rooms despite spending 16+ rockets.

When I first watched your videos I thought the quality of editing was amazing however each one you make just gets better. Your ability to create such a good narrative and story without being bored once is unreal. Rust is a limiting game with how exciting it can get yet you’ve still kept every video so entertaining. It was quite relaxing watching this and listening to you talk. You aren’t as speedy of a talker as other youtubers, and it’s a pleasant change of pace. The background music was quite peaceful and the vibes are good

When I build a solo base, I go for medium and hidden. Hidden in rocks, the forest, etc and I try and make it look a little nooby and roleplayer-y. Not a base that a super chad is going to live in. But I go for tons of interior garage doors, full hq bunker. So, medium, hidden, a bit goofy looking and really expensive to raid and I hardly ever get raided. Also try to build where itd be a nightmare to raid. Tons of bushes and rocks and trees to where Raiders would just be getting destroyed by rats and counters.

They could also use the bushes and rocks against you tho so get to know your area very well

Here's a tip: if you're going for the "hidden" base then glowing outer door is a horrible idea.
