I haven't played Runescape for a hell of a long time, every single one of my friends and I can attest to the toxic side of OSRS and have been caught in scams, lures, etc. and lost deep into the 9 figures of items. I just want to say how much i appreciate what you do for the community, particularly the new and inexperienced players.

Maybe someone can answer this. KempQ is saying he is risking his PMod status if he falsely mutes someone. But some of those scammers have PMod contacts who mute pretty much everyone who is competing with them. How do they keep their PMod status ?

Thank you for muting all of the GE bots. I have wanted p-mod for the last year just so that i could do the exact same as you did. Every day i log into the GE the first thing i do is mute/report all of the bots spamming the chat.

Got a topic suggestion that could help a lot of players in PVP worlds; There's a select group of max mage ahk rushers, who use a ridiculous stall you must've seen before, allowing 3 full fire-strikes in pvp before the character steps into dangerzone; This is the longest stall I've seen used with pking, having played since 2007... and the joke is that Jagex ''fixed' stall rushing on all the items of the past. Therefore, it's blatant bug abuse to gain GP over other players, in a PVP scenario... + ahk script use! I would sub 100x to see you and sir pugger deal with thoses pests. Only ever seen Gompie anti one for 1.5b.

Its so weird to me, i got my first tbow about a month ago and almost every time i go to the ge now with it equipped, the lurers come up and start talking to me. I just ended up turning public chat off.

the ge bots that 'buy items' at low prices you can get stuck in a trade loop which stops them from spamming. after usually 3-4 minutes they log out

part 2 reminds me of trying to kill the scouter level 3 bots at rev caves with my level 20 magic pure. ( not easy lol, lots of waiting and spam clicking ) Basically just ended up having to mark the square they logged into ( at the time of doing this I was forced to spam click over marked tiles, usually doing the OLDest (by memory) squares, but sometimes I was wrong and missed opportunities, cause no timer program for individual tiles that let me put a stop watch on a tile , which would of let me learn about how long it took for 1 bot to make its "scouting rounds" and then I could of basically rotated tile to tile to kill them more effectively, but I digress. ... I even looked into plugin development.. but gave up quickly despite how easy it is to make a timer plug-in in python or swift, or c++, after 30 minutes of researching how to make runelite plug-ins , I gave up lol)

Scams in general, someone was trying to reach out to me to try and serve court documents. They gave a tracking number and a company name. So the scam is to look up the company, try and track the "court order", in which you make an account and give all your information. Be on your toes. Court papers are just served. No one tells you beforehand they are coming.

I've got a pmod account, I definitely have done a few runs of clearing worlds but it gets exhausting. Also they add my alts as well that arent pmods to their list.

Hey @KempQ, what are some thing the average player can do to help combat botting and scammers? It makes me sick, sad and furious seeing all of them in game. Especially the gambling bots and lurers. I feel like I cant escape it and I want to do something about it.

Glad I got scammed for full rune in 2006 rather than my SSN or bank info or something. Learned a hard lesson but I didn't really lose anything, and now I have a healthy level of skepticism.

i still get scammed in runescape from time to time, some guy was doing the fabled doubling scam awhile back at the GE but i caught it early as he was “proving” doubling by accepting some small double trades, i traded up to 5m profit and then said screw it i’ll throw 10m see if he doubles that to if he logs it is what it is, i accidentally traded a random standing next to the scammer my 10m and in a panic i traded the scammer 5m in a desperate attempt to get my 10m back and he logged with it. 💀 My tomfoolery cost me 15m that day.

that home killing trick, defo should be allowed, as when in pvp worlds, most players are given a warning and if they disable it, its their own fault, but the fact we can get bots with this is amazing! :P stealing from the rich and give to the poor, when you kill a bot =p

Taking out scammers is great, but there's a double edged sword with taking out bots. I'm not convinced the bot situation is jagex's inability to deal with them. It's how much the game would change without them. You realize how much stuff insta-buys or insta-sells on the GE. That goes away if you have no bots. The game is already one of the grinding games ever made and a lot of the bot accounts are making their gold by doing that grind. This is what's keeping supply over demand for a lot of in game items. If there were no bots, you might not even be able to just buy skills instantly (or as fast as buy limit) because the supply chain wouldn't be there. Some bots should absolutely be taken out, but some bots genuinely are a bonus in the economy. This is what makes bots such a tricky issue to solve from the game's perspective
