I can't tell you how much this series means to me! I am a father of three daughters, and the oldest and I, (5) watch every night before she goes to bed. She has so many questions and it's awesome using your videos as a teaching tool to show her what the hunting lifestyle is all about! Keep up the great work and thank you again!!!

You're absolutely right when you say there is SUCH a sense of pride in butchering your own meat! Every single meal we have I am just so thankful that I am able to get out in some of the most beautiful country and bring home some free range organic meat! Thank you guys for this series! Congrats on your harvests! Super stoked to see how y'all do out here in Colorado! Stay safe and good luck guys!! 😀🤙🏹

I am a PA Whitetail bowhunter hunter and have not had to buy beef for a decade because Venison provides all my red meat needs. From the field to the table my hands are the only hands that touch the venison until after I serve it on a plate. You guys make awesome videos, but this one showing how you care for the meat on the road is just as cool as calling, shooting, tracking and finding your elk. I also take incredible pride in the venison I feed my family and friends. Really great videos you guys are producing.

Well I've loved the whole series. It pushed me to go elk hunting in Colorado in Pagosa springs. Didn't see anything but I fell in love with the altitude. About 9500' the timber changes, the cedars and blue spruce and aspens. I loved it so much I cried when I got there and cried when I left. I had never been to the mountains before. It's where I long to be. I chase whitetails pretty hard but now elk is all I can think about. Thanks for your hard work in bring this to us!

I am loving this series, finally got caught up after being off the grid for a few days. I never watched BRO prior to this series, but I will be a fan for life now! Your humbleness, appreciation, and simple love of hunting speaks volumes. My 4 and 6 year old daughters are hooked on the series with me now and you all are certainly great people in the industry to look up to. My wife may be getting sick of hearing bugles every day though lol. Thanks so much for spreading the public land message as well.

I agree 100%. I just started processing my own venison a few years ago (I haven’t been able to elk hunt yet). The most rewarding part of the process is when I sit down at the dinner table with my family knowing that I did all the work to get that meat on the table. We stopped buying any red meat years ago. Thank you guys for this series! You’ve convinced me to put bow hunting elk on my bucket list!

My husband hunts New Mexico archery every year. He has the same problem with finding dry ice. We live in Grants Pass so when he has to drive home it takes a couple of days. His suggestion for you packing freezer is a generator. I am sure you thought of that now. We can not wait for tomorrows video. Don't STOP!

Hey Trent, Here's an old meat cutter trick: Buy a whole roll of teh plastic bags grocery stores provide for the vegetables. One roll will last a long time. You want the thin plastic bags in a roll. Before you wrap the elk in paper, put it in a layer of plastic bag. Put the meat all teh way to the bottom of teh bag and get all teh air out. I've had elk ten years old that was in perfect condition, no freezer burn (no air).

The freezer idea is the way to go. I have been using that since 2012. About two weeks before the season starts, I plug in the freezer and load it up with 2-liter bottles about 3/4 full of water. By the time we are ready to leave, everything is frozen solid. The freezer stays cold and frozen during the hunt. I also take a small generator so I can run the freezer if it gets hot. I have also run the generator in the back of the truck on the trip home to power the freezer to make sure the meat stays cold. It is the best option if you don't have access to a meat locker to hang the meat.

I run a 5.5 cu ft freezer ($139) off an inverter (1200 watts will do it) I hooked up to my truck. It is right under the hood with a 110 extention cord run back to the freezer (zip tied/taped to the roof rack) I leave home with a load of frozen 1/2 gal milk jugs (cushioned with and old blanket). When you get your meat, pack it mixed in with the jugs. Water ice is far superior to dry ice for cooling down the meat. The freezer will run when you are going down the road and you will be solid by the time you are home. I process my meat in the field. If you are bringing home quartered meat just run the freezer enough to keep it cool. A couple of tips: bungee the top of the freezer down to keep it tight and don't forget to UNPLUG THE FREEZER WHEN YOU STOP for any lenth of time as it will run down the battery. I tie a piece of marking tape to my keys as reminder.

here is a tip...prefreeze gallon jugs of water in your freezer....then when you put your elk in your freezer it does not take days to freeze....the frozen water jugs wll help to cool down the elk meat faster.... i do this on my antelope hunts when we have shoot a bunch of antelope...i have cool off 5 goats in one freezer this way...before the meat would stay warn in the middle....important to layer the meat with the frozen water jugs...

Great episode as usual guys! If I may suggest one amendment to your meat wrapping process... I do the same thing with my venison and waxed butcher paper, but go one step further by wrapping the meat in clear freezer wrap first. I find that the clear freezer wrap keeps all of the air off of the meat. I have found stranded packs of venison at the bottom of the freezer that are 3, 4, sometimes 5 years old that hold up just fine. I've also tried the vacuum sealer and that doesn't typically work. I find that the seals come undone frequently. Keep up the great work! I'm loving every episode.

I was thinking as they talked about freezing it over night that it wouldn't be enough time, usually 48 hours to freeze a volume of meat like that. You should go into more detail about the trailer setup. I wonder if an upright freezer with coils under the shelves would freeze quicker- the meat would be spread a little thinner. Not as efficient as a chest freezer though.

Another great video. Congratulations Joe And Jerry whoever you are!.. Noticed you have a Vortex hat on....hmmm. More sponsors climbing on board? This made me hungry for back strap steak- (try a double wrap on the meat to seal the air out) Surprised you didn't have a small generator to kick on until the meat was frozen. Glad it all worked out. I bought an insulated fish bin for the larger quantities of meat (moose). Used ones are cheap & those yeti coolers are spendy. Each situation is different though. Obviously its was better to have numerous coolers in your case to alleviate opening an already frozen cooler.

Great videos guys. Do yourself a favor though, if your gonna be butchering a lot of animals, there's three things you shouldn't be without. A butchers saw 22" (hacksaw style bone saw with the nose shorter than the base of the saw), semi-stiff boning knife (6" or 8"), and a butcher's knife 10". It's not that it can't be done with a hunting knife, but butchers knives and saws are just easier to use. If I'm 10 miles I to the backcountry I'm not hauling that stuff, but to have it in your trailer would make things smoother. Cheers.
