1) I use waffle towels not only for the kitchen, but also for sewing things. I’ll show you what an unusual thing came out of an interesting pattern.
I offer a pattern for a robe, which immediately has shelves, a back and sleeves. You only need to make two lines so that you can try it on.
Since I have three pieces of fabric, and not a whole piece, I will combine and sew them together.
- This pattern makes the sleeves long, I shortened them by 10 cm.
- I folded the pattern like this.
- For the length of the robe, I sewed two more strips of towels, overcast each line and stitched it along the front side.
- Now I made a connecting stitch along the front, then it smoothly goes into the sleeve. I did the same on the second shelf.
- I placed a stabilizing stitch along the neckline to prevent the fabric from stretching before processing.
- I cut strips 11 cm wide from the fabric for the strip.
- I basted the strip and stitched it to the robe, overcast the seam and laid a finishing stitch.
- Hemmed the sleeves and bottom of the robe.
- A mandatory addition is two spacious pockets.
- I sewed a long belt.
- I sewed tabs for the belt along the waistline.
- The robe turned out to be very comfortable, soft, you can immediately feel the natural fabric on the body.
We were just getting ready for the mountains, and there will be a bathhouse there - I’ll take it with me.
2) I bought two Uzbek towels. But I will not use them for their intended purpose. I'll show you what they are for me.
A terry robe is not cheap. You can reduce your costs by sewing it yourself. The cost will be purely symbolic, but the item will turn out no worse than purchased.
To do this, you need to purchase a couple of terry towels. In the Svetofor and Dobrotsen stores you can buy quite decent towels in beautiful colors for little money. As soon as I saw and felt these pink bath accessories, I immediately fell in love with them and bought them.
The size is large enough 70x130 cm so that a couple is enough for a robe. Composition: 100% cotton, made in Uzbekistan.
The model is very simple, you don’t even need a pattern. If your hip circumference is up to 130 cm, then this towel size is suitable for sewing.
- I turned each towel 30 cm for the sleeves and cut off these pieces. The edge has already been processed.
One part goes to the back of the robe, the other to the front.
- I cut out a neckline on the back.
For the front, I cut the towel lengthwise and cut out the neckline.
- Then, when I cut it, I thought that it would be better to arrange the fabric so that there was a finished edge for the zipper. But a good thought comes later, I had already cut out the neck, it was too late.
- I sewed all the seams on an overlocker. First I joined the shoulder seams.
- I found the middle of the upper part of the sleeve and attached it to the shoulder seam at this point, stitched it.
- Next, I built up the sleeve and sides with one seam, not reaching the end, and made cuts at the bottom.
- I swept the shelves and neck.
- I turned the neckline up 1 cm and made a finishing stitch.
- The robe requires a detachable zipper. I stitched it up. turning the ends inward.
- I sewed the finishing stitch.
- I tucked all the threads inside the stitching.
- I sewed a loop.
Ready!
The robe turned out to be loose, very comfortable, cozy, pleasant to the body. It will be nice to put it on after a shower or bath, and the fabric will perfectly absorb moisture thanks to its natural composition.
