Thanos was stupid. Let's take Earth as an example. We kill half of everyone on the planet. That destroys civilization so another quarter of the population dies of disease and starvation. 8 billion humans and after Thanos, 2 billion left. The Earth's population was 2 billion in 1927. That means that all Thanos did was set the universe back 97 years.

I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You're a plague and we are the cure." In the comics, thanos wanted to eradicate life to impress mistress death (the cosmic entity of all death) because he had a crush on her. The resources thing makes a more grounded and less whack reason for his actions, but having all six stones (honestly the reality stone would be enough) he could just create endless resources for eternity. The stones aren’t bound by physics so yes, they actually can create something from nothing.
@kylethekidable
@kylethekidable Ай бұрын
They are bound by some of the fundamental laws of physics and matter though. It has long since been confirmed that even the infinity stones cannot create something out of nothing. Instead, what he could do is use the time stone to rewind entropy or the reality stone to convert unusable energy/material into a usable form. Hell he could take entire desolate planets with zero life and convert every atom of them into a lifetime supply of cheeseburgers for everyone on a few planets. There are plenty of ways he could have achieved his goal without erasing half of existence, but creating matter out of thin air is not one of them.

but, on the other hand, more resources doesn't necessarily solve poverty, lack of food, lack of fresh water. What solves that is less people around. And his method means that the rich can't just will away their assets to other rich people instead giving it more chances to be distributed amongst the lower classes of the world (not guaranteed, just an increased chance of it), and if nobody knows what happened, they can and will take that as a sign from a higher power to stop and think about why it happened, whether it IS too many people alive or the wars or the constant alienation of our kin, no matter who they are, what they believe, or what they look like.

Famine happens when supply chains collapse, and Thanos just collapsed all of em. He snapped his fingers and now millions of tons of crops are rotting in the field, or sitting undelivered in warehouses because he just snapped away half of all the farmers, factory workers, truck drivers, and shipping crews and everyone in between who we depend on to get our food from the farmers field to the grocery store. There's a good theory that arised after the movie 'Eternals' which is that Thanos was aware of the existence of celestials. In order for a Celestial to hatch from a planet, the population of the planet has to reach a certain point. Thanos could not reveal the existence of celestials to the avengers without creating too much drama, problems and wars. Thanos can't snap celestials out of existence either because infinity stones don't effect beings as powerful as them. Therefore the only solution he could come up with was to not allow them to hatch and drive a generation of them into extinction. In this case, less people would die to The Snap than Celestials hatching from planets in the absolute longterm of the universe's existence.

Questions that need answers: Couldn't the inhabitants of his planet traveled off planet? How far away was the next planet or/and civilization? Was it an scarcity of food or orher types of resources? Because they could have initiated trade relationships with another planets for resources.

His suggestion might work in the movies, but in reality, his "suggestion" would lead to such a widespread and cascading collapse of supply chains that it would cause the very civilization-ending mega-famine that he was trying to prevent in the first place. He isn't in the right. His plan is bad. And if I'm being honest it genuinely disturbs me how Disney has kinda recklessly convinced so many people that mass-murder is a viable and necessary solution to scarcity. I mean, what could possibly go wrong!?

Thanos wasn't wrong to begin with bc at the end of the day it was mercy that saved them. Mercy for 50% to survive and mercy for the 50% that wouldn't have been able to. If they live and everything's shvt making them somewhat die anyways, minimizing that to mitigate as much pain as possible is not just a W, but genius. Everyone quick to play family but it's selfish tendency to keep them around when all they will suffer from is pain. Heros are good heros when they realise their actions are also the byproduct of the ppl.
@GTRNights
@GTRNights 16 күн бұрын
The reason why it's a folly idea is because people reproduce. You get rid of 50%, so what? That's not a solution. Overpopulation is just going to happen again, so you randomly snap another 50% out of existence? Randomly? What about those people's right to live and experience life? It's not a solution at all. It's repetitive tragedy that is a bandaid and doesn't address the underlying issues. It's incredibly short-sighted and naive.

Because the problem was overpopulation but limited resources. With the feasibility of bending space, time, and reality by large and the capability to change the fabric of the entire universe at will, his solution was cutting population in half. Effectively killing half the universe. They understood what he said but it's not the solution especially the killing half the universe part. A hard core issue is how with the ability to do anything to the entire universe to fix his problem, he decides half the universe's death is his choice. He could have changed reality to fix things. He could have made it so resources grow along with the population. He could have made it so when they're about have a population that's too high for their resources, it'd start getting harder for them to have children thus curbing the birth rate til more resources is added. He could have thought of a number of things. He's got the power to do it all when he gets all the stones.
