FINDING FREEDOM IN VIETNAM #21
Still on the way to Kon Tom, I’m taking it slowly trying to learn a bit about the rural culture out in the mountains between cities. Most of the people out here are considered “dân tộc” people, they come from different ethnic backgrounds. Most of them can speak Vietnamese but some older folks only understand the local language.
The boys I chased down at the end come to stay at the school for 5 days every week. Im pretty sure it’s because they live really far away and can’t afford to drive there and back every day. They came up to my camp at night, I played them a song on the guitar and the next morning at 5am they were outside my tent wanting to hang out before they start school.
