Dollar Store, cotton balls soaked in Vaseline keep in a little water tight container, will light with a good spark and burn for 3 to 5 minutes

even better - use an antibiotic ointment instead of the vaseline, burns just as well but makes a single use item dual use

Most people think my method is overkill. Split the thumb width or larger twigs lengthwise. Sometimes the outer bark of the twigs are damp. I cheat and use a cigar lighter. It provides a half to one and a half inch solid flame even in windy conditions. It is almost like a mini torch.

Another great video, I like how you are often trying new ways to do things . I don't know about camping in the snow by your self , u are defiantly a fearless young women. The B C scenery is so specular especially this time of year hope u stick around this province for along time.

Corgi's make the best camping, hiking and overlanding companion's. Small dog, under 30lbs, with an 80lb bark. Their very smart, alert, tremendous hearing and senses and a heart for adventure and fun! Their awesome snugglers too on a cold night!

My friend has one of the Alu Cab 270 Awnings, it came w/ his Vagabond camper. The thing snapped on the Mojave trail when it was deployed w/o guy lines. They're designed to snap in high wind load so it doesn't start bending the mounts and subsequently the roof of your vehicle or even turn into a sail and allow your vehicle to flip over. But you can for sure deploy the legs, guy down the awning, setup the room and camp in inclement weather. Snow loading should be zero problem. There's a short upward deploying leg that actually creates a peak on the top of the awning allowing for snow loading and letting rain easily slide off the edge of the awning instead of pooling. Pricey, but it's a good product. Also they sell replacement supports so it's not a big deal if it breaks, just kinda pricey.

I love the thought overlanding Especially how cool and easy you make it look. But I don’t know how people could or want to camp in the winter. Just too uncomfortable and cold. At first I thought I wanted to go off roading the mountains and camp but the more I thought about it the more I realized it ain’t for me. I’ll just watch these KZfaq channels lol. Keep up the good work!

The biggest think I see with your fires is the size of the wood you want to start burning right away. You're trying to take on too thick wood, which is why they won't light. First start with your tinder bundle for your spark to catch on; then once burning, put your tinder bundle into sticks as thin as a no.2 pencil lead; then when they are burning, put on sticks as thin as pencils; then move up to thumb width sticks then wrist.

Remember not to use your awning in heavy snow during the night, unless you are willing to get up every 10 min and take it off. Otherwise either the fabric or the metal will brake beyond repair. Powder snow is approximately 4 kg /m2 (assuming that the height is 20 cm). If it stays a little and be packed, it goes up to 12 kg/m2 (again at 20 cm height). And finally if it's wet it rises to 30 kg/m2.

I think it was in July I was watching a camping video and this guy camping in the snow and I thought what in the world is that in the back of his truck so I back the video up and it said Napier on it so I ended up getting me a Napier camo truck tent so I go totally cool so now I had to go get all the stuff I had to get an air bed queen size sleeping bag, 12 volt coffee maker in 7 minutes you got all the hot water you need for hot chocolate, hot tea, hot coffee, and oatmeal, got a 12 volt electric blanket. It appears that I am ready to go. Then they shut the forest down because we had no rain temperatures averaging in the 90s every day no rain extreme fire danger so the forest was shut down. !!!!!

Depending on how much effort you want to put into training and exercising your pup a Australian Cattle dog is a great outdoor pup! They’re super smart, very dedicated to usually just their owner. Great size for camping and anything outdoors, they just need to be trained well and consistently. They also go by the name blue heeled or red heeler. Would be my dream adventure pup.

Just a heads up, you don’t want to charge lithium chemistry cells below 32f or 0c. That charger that you had plugged into the jackery more than likely does not have a low temperature cut-off and will pass current to the cells, potentially damaging them and shortening their lifespan / capacity.
