@@LfunkeyA Lonerism is a great album, but it does nothing to bring psyche music into the future. It is steeped in classic psyche rock stylings. That’s why Currents is a watershed album, it actually brought psyche to a new place.

𝗟𝗲𝘁 𝗜𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻 Literally one of the best songs I've heard in recent times. I was the dude in the dark brown hoodie when I first discovered this song in 2015 (it's release year) now, 8 years later, I'm actively the dude in the red pants whenever I hear this song. (Sorry, don't know names yet, a new viewer & subscriber!) Tame Impala typically gets a bad rapport. Not sure why.

@@Koricometh Happens often. It’s a division of people who respect his work vs. people who don’t. The people who don’t respect the craft make mention that his work isn’t special, implying it’s not actually difficult to be a 1-man-band, if that makes sense. It’s the same complaints that Kevin is being glorified for simple work, essentially. I see it a LOT from garage bands. Instead of respecting his work, they’ll just find ways to pick it apart instead of worrying about their own sounds.

There is very little bad rapport. Most people that really take the time to dive in to his music, are more times than not, dissappointed they didn’t find him sooner. He’s dearly loved by his fans, including me.

I think now people are upset that the "tiktok normies" or whatever have gotten a hold of him in recent years, and there are also a subsection of Tame Impala fans that aren't fond of his newer dreampop sound (Currents, The Slow Rush) vs his original psychedelic rock sound (Tame Impala EP Innerspeaker, Lonerism). However, for that argument, Kevin Parker specifically wanted his music to be more accessible to the mainstream, to be played in clubs and communal settings where friends just hung out and played his music, so he achieved exactly what he wanted with the phenomenal success of Currents. Either way, Kevin is a legend, no doubt about it.

this is one of my favorite albums of life, i’ve been listening to it since the day it came out and seeing your reactions to it make me feel a little close to when I heard it for the first time. I would give up a lot to be able to listen to it again, because after years it still hits really hard, but nothing ever compare to the first time. I heard Tame Impala the first time when I was high af when my friend put it on. We were in his renovated greenhouse out in the yard at night and it was raining heavily outside. I can safely say it was 100% pure happiness, I’ll never forget it. Especially let it happen just took me to a completely different dimension.

Interesting bit about the track Nangs, Nangs is the Australian slang for whippits and that was his attempt to recreate the feeling of it which, as someone who used to go hard on that shit, I think he did a great job
