When you fix mechanical stuff in this car, I recomend reading "modifying aerodynamics of your road car" by Julian Edgar. Simple flat underbody could do wonders for improving sound isolation and fuel consumption. With naturally aspirated EJ20 this car would be smooth AF for its age and shape.

If I was in your spot with the van that you are in right now by having to basically re build the whole thing, I would be upset at first. But as time would go on I feel like I would truly start to enjoy that I needed to rebuild it. You learn your car inside out. And in a way build a connection with it. I think one day I would like to rebuild a Mustang Mach 1 (69), but that's way out of my skill level to pull off lol. But who knows, maybe I will just go for it one day. Good luck with the van!

I wouldn't forget some 40mm respirators with a few ABEKP3 filters useful for virus protection and anything else toxic in the air and an NVA Rubber NBC suit or two as they can be used for extreme cold going into the water up to neck hight (great for fishing) and will allow you to get out of a locked-down region without mush issue if something major goes down, the suits are around 20USD a pop off eBay and last decades with a bit of talk, masks and filters will run you 80USD per person tho its a great investment you never know what you might run into on a continental trip these days from riots to plagues or the end of the world its the little things that help :)
