Because: *1.* Team Usyk initiated the head contact and thus assaulted Jon first. *2.* He was one old, fragile, obese old man - and they were 30 young prime fighters. *3.* The smaller lad he headbutted had made his way in front of the security that were trying to separate the two teams. *4.* So Fury anticipated another clash of heads and did a preemptive strike *5.* Whether or not the threat posed by the smaller lad was genuine or not is irrelevant - only the fact that Jon genuinely believed he was in danger. *6.* Also, the rules/laws around combat sports press conferences are vague. *7.* This kind of controversy is actually liked by the promoters - because it sells the fight. Similarly, Team Usyk should pay John for what he did - because he will be increasing their wages by a significant amount. *8.* Last but not least - who is going to prosecute? The court fees would be ridiculous + it would derail the fight negotiations. It would make no sense. *9.* Even if he was prosecuted - he'd only get a suspended sentence for actual assault due to excessive force in self-defense - or he'd get a not guilty verdict due to self-defense. I don't think John would even care about getting a suspended sentence lol

And on top of the above comment he could probably get off the charges by saying he tripped
