Probably once in my minds eye I see it as; when it was to be used there was stuff stacked up against the wall in the way. So the stuff was moved, the table taken down, and the stuff put back. Then with the stuff in the way, the table wasn’t put back and shelves went up to hold the stuff and the table gets pushed up near the wall. At least that’s how it would work out for me😂

I tried to get my bro to build me one of these 37 years ago. I was in a studio apartment and had no room for a dining table. He said I was ridiculous and wouldn't build it. That my idea was impractical. What I had designed was maybe half this size, length, and width. Makes my heart happy to see you build this great work space. Unlimited possibilities. 😊

@@jefferyshall That wasn’t my point at all. Not close. It’s a 1 minute video. It’s so efficient, I don’t need to sketch plans. Every detail can be seen - in under a minute. Maybe you don’t have experience teaching. Try it. You’ll find it’s easy to tell people what to do. It’s rare they can then go do it. Good teachers know how to hit necessary points. What they leave out is as important as what is featured.

After I watched this I used this idea to get my motorcycle lift out of the middle of my garage. Same concept. I lower it all the way down, roll it against the wall, and hinge it against the wall. It is supported, and hinges on top of a few 4x4 posts about 8" high. Its about 300 lbs or so, so it takes a bit to hinge it up, but once its up I use a few wood screws with fender washers on them and screw them through pre-existing holes that are in the deck of the lift. Works like a charm. I have a fold down work table on that same wall that folds down and hides the motorcycle lift. Thanks for the idea! 🍻

There's two problems with this. Problem 1: It will always be cluttered with junk, so you won't be able to readily fold it up as intended. Problem 2: In the rare event that you DO clean it off and fold it up - the area it would occupy when unfolded will fill up with clutter and then you won't have room to unfold it and use it. Nice try though.

Man I guarantee you work or have worked in a shop, because over the years when you always run out of work bench space and build another one, it never fails to happen that no matter how many workbenches you have they always become junk collectors. I had a boss that loved me and my work. I could do no wrong with him. But when I said I wanted to build a workbench, he said John clean anyone of the benches you want to and you can have it. They are nothing but junk collectors, pretty soon you won’t be able to move around in here with another one. He was so right.

Like lanes in an LA freeway. Everybody thinks a fold-up workbench is a great idea so videos like this do really well. In reality, better workflow and easy-access storage shelves are the only way to "make more space". Been here done that.

❤😂🎉That's cool. I built a similar workbench from thick ordinarily plywood and those cheap two by fours. I was very strong and quite easy to disassemble. The design was inspired by The Trade Tables they use for Street Markets in Geneva. Switzerland .
