You should stock your pond with bull minnows and sell them for bait. You could raise enough bull minnows to supply all the tackle shops in Gulf Shores plus your own if you plan to sell live bait.

I worked at Top Gun in Orange Beach for a while after a buddy of mine bought it and Mo-Fishing from the former owner, and was looking for folks to man it. I live in Pcola, but agreed to do it since I was retired and thought it would be fun. I told my buddy that I didn’t know enough to work in a tackle shop, but he said, “all the customers are tourists, and they won’t know that you’re just making it up.” It was true, but one thing I learned very quickly, was keeping live bait was very difficult - the most difficult part of the business. Without live bait, you lost a lot of traffic. Our bull minnows came from Mobile Bay, and there was one bull minnow man, and he was as old as dirt. When he didn’t deliver, we lost money. Same with shrimp, fiddler crabs, etc. we actually made quite a bit of money selling live pinfish during snapper season, which we caught ourselves. We also cast netted menhaden and sold them frozen. I hope you guys are successful. It’s a tough business, but best of luck to you. I’ll be over to visit as soon as you get opened up.

Charge $5 for rod and time to fish. Limit 10 per session and rotate them every 30 minutes. I like the idea of a tagged fish wins something from the junk corner!! Continued success guys. You have earned it🎣

Check the FL regs for transporting live fish. You may need a permit. Just say your eating them and keeping em fresh ;)

There's gotta be a prize for catching Quasi, which is now that bass's name. I think the pond should be for kids under 16 with parents present, and there should be a limit of 5 at a time or less. You don't want them getting hung up on lines or hooking each other. Maybe limit them to cane poles so they don't catch passing traffic, kids do crazy stuff as you may know 😉.

Illegal to catch blue gills in net in NC considered to be a game fish, I was catching shad and wildlife officer came alongside to check out my tank found a small blue gill lectured me and wrote me a warning ticket.

Isn't that super illegal? Correct me if i'm wrong but 99.9% of fresh water using a cast net is a big no no. Literally everywhere will not sell you a cast net if there's no ocean nearby. I even got yelled at by a bass pro employee when all i asked was where are there cast nets. Not sure why he yelled since i was going to the ocean with it lmao but yeah people don't take it too kindly.

The title says cadt net, not cast rod. You threw second net in the same place you screwed the first pne at. It would have been easier, cheaper, to have gone to the store and bought some more cheetos or bread. Threw between the concrete pillers. Where there were 100's blue gill of many size. Oh well better luck next time.

So it may cost more then yall want to spend but most of time there are companies that you can pay to stock your pond and keep it stocked every so often. Might make it easier to keep a healthy population that way.

In the randomly removing fish and taking them for your own water is likely to end up badly. Most waters containg fish are privately owned and those that aren't come under the local water authority so taking them is certainly unethical and may be tantamount to theft. If you take any angling clubs fish then arrange hospital treatment in advance.

Not intending to be rude or negative with my comment just stating my experience as its different then someone elses. Depends on the state. Some consider bluegill as game, others do not. Like where I live I want to to say they aren't considered "game" fish persay but only certain bodies of water can be fished with net because in some bodies of water they do consider them game. Its really werid and hard to follow, they are but they arent, if you know what i mean. My main issue where I live, they absolutely freak out about transporting live fish from body of water to body of water. Even private ponds now. They even check to make sure you drain your live well now because of some bacteria spread. But every state is different.
