The boss characters were "inspired" (i.e. ripped off whole sale) by characters from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Namely Riff Raff played by Richard O'Brien and Frank-N-Furter played by Tim Curry (with the eye patch stolen from lead singer Pete Burns from Dead or alive). 😆
