Sad day in the world when a base model Tesla gets more head turns than a blue E46

I used to own an E36 M3 and IMHO the E46 is still the best looking M3 BMW ever produced.

I have the dressed down 330Ci which is the baby brother to this car. Less HP, the same steering rack, mostly the same chassis, and a reasonable 5W-40 oil spec instead of the bonkers 10W-60 oil of the S54. I've refreshed the interior, the suspension, the cooling system, the ignition system, all the oil sealing gaskets, the power steering system, and next year I'm pulling the intake to do the CCV and the buried coolant pipes/vacuum lines. If the M3 gets zero looks, the 330Ci gets negative looks, especially in a boring color. But it's not about how it looks for me. It's about how it carves up mountain highways. It's about the feel of that steering rack. It's about having a car where I can use every drop of the power when the mood strikes me. And yeah, I can take it to Costco and buy cat litter.

The E46 with ZCP (and shorter steering ratio) is a great handling car. And perfectly balanced. With certain modes like KW V3 suspension and an exhaust makes this car a dream to drive. I miss my E46 M3 ZCP also.

His cra looks great, i like the wheels... funny u say it gets no looks...i get more comments on my old 2004 e46 m3 in velvet blue than i do in my f series m4. or my 2020 RS7 c8 (well that one does get a lot of comments ...they seem to respect a cool an old school car

Great car! Look amazing, I think everyone should experience them but your right too many other better options. Having driven an E46330ci daily, an E90M3 and now a F80M3 they all are progressively better. With unlimited funds of course it would be nice to have. Next stop for me are the Pcars. Cheers

17-21 yrs old give or take I don’t take 130 thousand as high mileage at all, as all at this level are welll well maintained and looked after.

Definitely miss my e46. It was a fantastic car, but I agree. More options out there that give you a similar, sometimes better feel for around the same price. Great review!

Had e46. M3. Manual. No sunroof. LCD screen. No hid. Lighter cloth in the middle seats. I could turn that car into a track car. Problem is with them. Subframe crack and vanos :)

Of course, if you have a Porsche nothing else compares, except maybe an S2000! :-) Have driven the Honda's VTEC, BMW M's, and Porsche 911 997.1. Best overall driving experience, Porsche 911. Best all around transmission and gearing w loads of fun is the S200. Most practical, easy to maintain, looks good, and gets 30 MPG, and hauls 5 people US E36 M3/4/5.

Love the looks of the e46 M3. It’s iconic. But the seating position I cannot stand. You sit so up so high on the oem seats. Seems like you are driving an SUV.

Hydraulic steering is what BMW lost. The feel of the drive has been lost since. Straight line over the twisties is now BMW mantra sadly! This is last great M, and this from a ‘18 F80CPkg owner.

Redline is 8000 rpm. Peak HP is at 7900 rpm.

Maybe where you live it gets 0 attention I get a lot of people looking at my e46 m3 people don’t give thumbs up but stare hard 😂😂

doesn't matter if cayman s performs better. the E46 m3 looks better. that's most of E46 M3 appeal..its incredible wide stance mean look.
