No idea of the history and history should be remembered. They are great art and oak leaves is the way I enjoy seeing them the most. I hope to gain enough skill with carving to add to my dream building of a Murphy Bed and at least some additional beauty such as the antique furniture from 200 years ago. Thanks Alex your inspiration given me drive and I'm learning at age 72

Hello Alex. I found your site because of your little whittled green man project, which I made as a Christmas present. I started an embroidery channel last year and my Green Man embroidery was so popular that I have a tote bag painted with my own design for sale in my shop which only opened just before Christmas. I find that people outside of the UK, and Europe in general have no idea what the green man symbolises. Although it is part of English mythological history. Anyway, thank you for your whittling project. I did my best with it and the recipient was very happy. She works for a conservation charity.

Geesh dude that's a really nice greenman. Very crisp carving. You also did an excellent job showing emotion in his face. My three favorite things to carve are greenmen, grotesques, and gargoyles.

You do awesome work. My big question is, are you charging enough for your work? Many craftsmen under value their work because they look at what they can afford and not what the client can afford. Many times when bidding a job I was the most expensive, but, the people wanted the quality of my work.

DanSpiggs ...I am in ATL Ga.... Georgia is full of hardwoods....have some cedar...that is what I am carving...but wood like cottonwood bark is certainly hard to find in Ga
