I Cant Believe I Hooked a River Giant!

The Ginger Fisherman

The Ginger Fisherman

Күн бұрын

The aim this session was to try and target big river perch on shads. The river had finally ran off from some floodwater conditions and seemed a perfect time to target these predators. Working the lures quite quickly it didn't take long before the fish started biting! It was some nail biting action.
Rod - abugarcia-fish...
Reel - abugarcia-fish...
Cannibal shad - savage-gear.co...

That was probably 30lb+ Pike. That Is how they run when first hooked. All you got to do now, Is mark that spot, and go back In the Winter with Deadbaits. And then try to nail Her. Big fish like that usually stay In the same area. Great Session again Chris, Hope that all Is well on the home front to, Keep 'Em Coming.

@@iamrathercool12121 i moved back to UK from Malta 2 years ago.. I watched these every day over there.. no rivers no lakes no fresh water fish for me to catch... I can honestly say Chris is a massive influence as to where my fishing has taken me over the past 24 month... first 6 months i put in at least 25 hrs a week on the canal and river just trying to find the big fish... after around 14 month its possible to catch a 40cm+ perch at least once a week if you know where they live ;) as for chub... same story if you know where they live you can catch them... hats off to Chris for the devotion he puts into this channel and now his career... i would have given up after those big fish if it wasn't for watching him make it look so easy... however Chris must put in hours an hours of searching and just watching the water.. hence the bike ;) if you want these big specimen fish and move away from catching 20cm baby's a bike, 20 hours a week minimum and a hela lot of early mornings haha its truly possible. Thanks chris for making me obsessed with fishing again

I don't know if they have ever been seen or caught in this river, but I don't mind betting you hooked a catfish, the way it fought and went off leaving a trail of bubbles from the bottom, is classic catfish behaviour.

Having that Perch, Pike and Chub in the same net is awesome man. Your videos have really inspired me. I got myself a 1-5 gram set up to fish the local rivers. I’ve had some good fish but never managed a Perch, Pike and Chub in the same session, never mind the same net. Thanks for the inspiring videos look forward to seeing what you catch in the future.

Great video! Hope you manage to get the big fish at some point. I hooked a 20lb pike on my 3-10g rode once when perch fishing. Took nearly 15 min to land it and it bent my metal net out of shape. That was two years ago and haven't managed a fish of that size since.

Hey mate, been following you for about a year now and love the content. Hope you don't mind me being cheeky, but could you make a video on the boring stuff like the laws of fishing. I know I need a fishing license that I have, but I really don't know about the permit stuff about fishing a river. Plenty people say "get land owners permission" or you need to be a member of a club etc, but I am really having difficulty in finding clubs and rules of rivers etc. Much appreciated in advance and keep up the good work

Seen plenty of bream but they don't hang about, they swim straight through at a good rate of knots so they must be heading to a regular feeding area but I'm not sure where. Got a few ideas where the tench are hiding which I'll be trying but in general it's nearly all tiddlers at the stretch I go to. Might be some bigger perch hiding somewhere just not seen them yet. Biggest I've had is about half a pound. Found a nice pocket that's always full of jack pike tho so will be having a go after them

11:46 : I bet that was a Pike 20lb Minimum. You never stood a chance of landing it on the tackle you were using for perch. Could have been foul hooked like you said, that can make them much harder to play and control as you can't turn the head.

If that net is the same net as I have which is the fox rage Street fighter then if the chub managee to get out, the net should have floated because theres some foam around part of the hoop. If the fish did eventually manage to get out of the net by itself then the net would have floated to the surface or down stream

Hard luck losing that monster. We all have stories like that so heres mine: fishing a lake in Essex for carp and my rod screams off. I strike and it continues to scream off. It takes me halfway across the lake lengthways and i think 'crap this is not stopping' it continues at the same speed so i tighten my drag......no effect. Tighten my drag again....no effect at this point its 3/4 of the way from the top of the lake nearer to the bottom so i tighten drag again and now its almost pulling me forward whilst still taking drag. So i go for broke and tighten it up again and after pulling me forwards my 15lb line snapped. Idk what the f@#k i hooked as the biggest fish in there was supposed to be a near 40lb carp, but this was like hooking a car. It didnt stop. Didnt slow down. I did hear rumours afterwards that there might be a couple of catfish that someone put in there illegally, but i dont know what it was. I REALLY wish i could have seen whatever it was, I've never felt power like that.
